In this sail life vlog, we go on a dinner date in Governor's Harbour in Eleuthera, Bahamas. I feel like this video is a fairly accurate reflection as to what a normal day is like while out cruising. You get up, you clean the dinghy, you do laundry, you run out of cash so you go to the bank, then you grab a nice hamburger because by that time, you've worked up an appetite. If you ever do laundry at Governor's Harbour, be warned. The laundromat is hotter than Hades. The dryers vent all the exhaust directly into the building itself. Holy moly, it was like being in a sauna. No matter - we round off the day with a nice island-style family dinner date. Nothing like enjoying a good meal with my 2 ladies as company - especially on a beautiful island in the Bahamas. It just doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for watching!! So we have made it safely across the North Sea! It took us around 20 hours to get to Ijmuiden Seaport Marina from Lowestoft and was a much better sail than our previous one! We had a couple of nights to recharge our batteries then we began our journey into the Netherlands canal system. We continued our journey towards Amsterdam going through Kleine Sluis by Ijmuiden to get us down to the correct water level. It was a relaxing journey down the super wide canal and Scrappy came out to enjoy it with us. Amsterdam was reached after about a 3 hour journey and we squeezed ourselves in Sixhaven Marina opposite Amsterdam Central Station. A 5 minute walk from Sixhaven gave us access to a free ferry across the canal to the city centre. There was SO much to see and do - we spent hours exploring! We throughly enjoyed a meatball sandwich from 'Mister Meatball' - highly recommend a visit here - and wandered down the streets lining the many canals of Amsterdam. Numerous 'coffeeshops' were passed and hundreds of stunning buildings. During our stay in Amsterdam there was a very impressive thunderstorm. The recording of this is probably my favourite part of the video! Check it out at 11:37. Further exploration of Amsterdam led me past Anne Franks's house and the almighty Westerkerk - Anne could hear the bells from her attic room and they provided her with some comfort. After we had exhausted ourselves, we decided to keep heading North up towards the Markermeer.
