Students from the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) visited IMO Headquarters for their student forum in July 2017. The forum's theme was that of IMO’s World Maritime Day “Connecting Ships, Ports and People”. The visit, brought over 60 students from all over the world.

Will an expired liferaft float? What’s inside a life raft? How do you inflate a life raft? We ended up choosing to get a new one. There are many options to decide from. Some of our decisions were practical. Ben wanted to be able to sit up. We needed a small one as most of the time its just the two of us aboard. Other than that we found one that was from a trustworthy company and pulled the trigger. Ahem not the pull cord. With the new one installed, we had to decide what to do with our old one. Since we weren’t comfortable using it ourselves, we couldn’t in good conscious sell it. We have been lugging around an extra raft for just around 7000 nautical miles. Finally we found the right day and place to give the old one a spin. There's nothing for me to sand or paint right now, so it must be time to sew! Two big items we need done before leaving the marina are making a new mainsail cover and an awning for the cockpit. Tackling the hardest one first, I went with the sail cover. Since we were starting from scratch and yours truly was doing the work, we decided to go with a stack pack, where the cover never fully comes off, but instead is unzipped to allow the sail in and out. I've never attempted anything like this before, but luckily Sailrite makes a very helpful step by step video on building one. We're making a few tweaks, so ours won't be exactly the same, but it has helped me with the most important parts. Also in this episode, we spend a little quality time with our friends Jeremy and Courtney of s/v Teho. We'd gotten to know them at the marina just after the new year, and were now able to reconnect after they've arrived back from the Bahamas. Bivouac organisé par l'association Mayotte Astronomie, sur la plage la plus épargnée des nuisances lumineuses, à Saziley donc. Au départ de M'tsamoudou puis en empruntant le sentier des baobabs, à la rencontre des tortues et des astres.

Entre pistes, forêts et plages un samedi à Mayotte

Un weekend sur l'île de la Réunion c'est trop court pour tout voir mais ça donne un aperçu des mille facettes que propose ce territoire. Entre mer et montagne, ciel et lagon, on en prend plein les yeux. Pour notre premier séjour ce sera : ascension du piton de la fournaise, festival Sakifo à Saint-Pierre puis visite de la ville, passage par les coulées de lave à l'Est de l'île et enfin randonnée dans la forêt de Bellouve vers le Trou de Fer

Superbe sortie en bateau avec Sea Blue Safari, le 16 avril 2017. Sur les récifs du nord avec les dauphins, îlot de sable blanc, plage du préfet, îlot M'titi

Notre première randonnée en kayak depuis M'Tsahara vers la plage du Préfet et même un peu plus loin vers la pointe Handrema Seulement quelques kilomètres mais de beaux paysages.
