http://www.berthon.co.uk/about-berthon/berthon-history/#tab3 Brian May, owner and MD at Berthon Boat Company, and Ross Monson, Berthon Refit Manager, demonstrate how to build an original Berthon Collapsible Boat, the vessel that would start a long history in lifesaving vessels being built by Berthon, with the most recent being the Shannon class Lifeboat for the RNLI. There are no complete records of the number of collapsible boats built at Romsey from 1873 to 1917 but research accounts for at least 1400 boats supplied to the Navy, Army, French Navy, Passenger and Troopships. The Army and Navy stores London also commenced retailing the smaller Berthon collapsible boats in 1889 in considerable numbers, as yacht tenders, loch and river fishing craft. http://www.berthon.co.uk/about-berthon/berthon-history/#tab3

Ain't no party like an underpants party! Sophisticated Lady continues south as we leave the incredible island of Guadeloupe. We make a quick overnight stop over at Isles Des Saintes to fill up on water and do some scuba diving, then we journey south to Dominica, probably our favorite island in the Caribbean ever. After settling in to our anchorage we go in search of the Jaco and the Sisserou, two endemic wild parrot species that you can't see anywhere else in the world! This week we take a brief sabbatical from sailing and adventure into the rainforest of Guadeloupe. We spent 2 days hiking a 35km portion of the GRG1 trail (La trace des Alizés) up the side of La Soufrière (the Volcano) and back down to sea level. The hike was incredibly challenging but the scenery was well worth it. The pain in our legs will pass, but sleeping in the clouds and the smell of volcanic steam are two things we'll never forget. The sprit halyard is one of the most important sail controls onboard an Opti. The more you  can actively adjust the halyard tension to match conditions, the better your boat will sail. This is why it’s super important to have a low-friction system that’s easy to adjust while you’re sailing. Check out this video featuring Blockhead ambassadors Chapman and Jack as they install the key components to optimize Jack’s Opti sprit halyard. Antigua may pack 365 beaches into one small island, but with clear seas, consistent breeze and a full regatta calendar, the beaches are just the start. Nestled in the heart of the Caribbean's Leeward Islands, Antigua is the best that sailing has to offer: warm, gentle trade winds, safe anchorages, turquoise waters and deserted white sand beaches.

Hi guys, here you see me a day single hand sailing and filling up the Diesel and water tanks. Always very important when single hand sailing to clean up the boat in and outside and put all the stuff you might need ready like ropes, bouys, tools and whatever you might need. Think before you leave what you wanna do, i go to the harbor first so i'll put the boys out and arrange the ropes so i can throw them or jump off having them. I go sailing so I get most elastic bands that hold the sail together off so I can raise the sail emediatly. I attache the autopilot beforehand

Music by Random Temple (https://soundcloud.com/randomtemple) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What're your plans? Buy a boat, fix it up, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

Join us as we head off on a ten-day trip to the spearfishing Mecca of Ha'apai, Tonga. We dive an active volcano and are lucky enough to shoot some big fish and swim with Sharks, Dogtooth tuna, Whales, Wahoo and even a Whale shark! Does diving get any better than this? It does, the backdrop is two volcanoes one of which is an active volcano that puffs away behind an awesome cone shaped Kao Volcano. This place is epic! Thanks for watching! It was a very action packed week on Inspire. We got robbed, sailed to Ibiza, had our first night sail, ripped our main sheet and hit our first 35 knot winds while sailing to Santa Pola, Spain. We are loving every minute of being chucked into the deep end, you have to learn quick in the Sailing World. Enjoy Episode 3. Thanks for watching, Ab & Ro.
