In this episode, Brad repairs the dinghy with a new patch, the family takes a little road trip to Georgia to drop the Oliver and Everly off for a week of fun with their grandparents and cousins, while Brad and Kara celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary. But not without boat drama...while anchored out, the boat got waked and the engine hydrolocked. We called Boat US for a tow to take us back to the marina we had spent the previous week. With the help of a fellow boater and new friend, Matt, who is also a diesel mechanic, Brad and Matt were able to restore the engine the same day by flushing out the salt water and changing the oil several times. We really dodged a major bullet! Phew! For daily updates on our adventure, you can follow us on Instagram and Facebook @unAnchoredAdventures Music credit: 'Glorious' by Adam Friedman

After securing our boat on the West coast of Florida, we travel to the East Coast of Florida to wait out Hurricane Irma with friends. Flooding, down trees, tornados and power outages left the St. Augustine barrier island ravaged. We spent three days helping friends and family clean up debris and then we trekked back to the boat to see what kind of water damage we may have incurred on the boat. Thankfully, we had no damage on our home in St. Augustine and only a little water leak in the boat. We get chased out of the Florida Keys by a category 5 hurricane that threatens the state of Florida. With only 6 days before the hurricane is expected to hit, we make a last minute decision to go up the west coast of Florida and find a safe haven. Four long cruising days later, we make it to Palmetto, FL and secure unAnchored. Along the way, our dinghy begins to sink and fills with water. We manage to temporarily repair the problem without too much of a delay. Follow us @unAnchoredAdventures on Instagram and Facebook for daily updates on our family adventures! This episode features days 7-9 of our journey as we continue to travel south to the Keys. We find beautiful anchorages along the way and dodge knarly squalls, too! So much about boatlife is weather dependent, so we miss out exploring Key Biscayne and Stiltsville due to the storms. Thanks for watching! Day 4-5: We pick up friends in Vero Beach for a day cruise to Stuart. A night stay at Loggerhead marina gave us time to do laundry and provision as we waited out the rain. Unfortunately, it never let up. Embracing the rain, we trek on towards Jupiter where we anchor out for the night and dinghy over to one of our fav restaurants, Guanabanas, for some late night tacos. Day 6: Cruising South, we picnic at Peanut Island and watch the solar eclipse. We also run into MJ Sailing at anchor and meet them for the first time. We've been watching their YouTube videos for a year as they refit their sailboat. We continue on to our next anchorage at Lake Boca and visit with our sweet cousin Chloe. We have loved seeing family and friends along our journey! Follow us @unAnchoredAdventures on Instagram and Facebook for daily updates! Day 2: We cruise out in the ocean from Ponce Inlet and catch some fish. After an eight hour day, we head back into the ICW at Cape Canaveral and go through the locks. We spend the night at a marina so we can fuel up, fill our water tanks and find wifi. Day3: We spent the morning working and head out after lunch. We find an anchorage just in time for sunset near a spoil island just past Melbourne. Final day of preparations before we take our 36' Albin Trawler down the ICW to the Florida Keys. Our dinghy has been patched, repaired and finally ready for our journey. We give it a good test mission, about a 30 minute dinghy ride from St. Augustine to Palm Coast. We stop off at Captains BBQ for a celebratory dinner and then continue south towards the Yacht Harbor Marina. Boat Projects continue as we have an extended Bimini built, DIY exterior sunscreens for all the windows, install new speakers and a stereo system, and find the "leaky" culprit after some rainy days. The kids are learning how to tie boat knots, get in some laundry training and try the new zip line at the park nearby after a donut date with our friends @livingseaworthy. Meatless Monday wasn't the biggest hit with the kids, but it's always fun experimenting with meals on a boat. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @unAnchoredAdventures for more fun updates as we prepare for launch in the next week!
