Nach unserem einmalig tollen Besuch von Tobago mit genialen Erlebnissen sind wir mit 3 anderen Schiffen zusammen nach Trinidad aufgebrochen. Das Schiff muss raus, Antifouling und mehr muss neu gemacht werden. Après le démâtage, le rangement et le sanglage, le bateau est prêt à reprendre la route. Nous avons fini tard dans la nuit, nous partirons donc le lendemain. Comme nous sommes dans les temps, nous ferons une étape au camping de l'Oiselon à Pont d'Ain (01). C'est un camping que nous connaissons depuis des années, il est très pratique d'accès pour un ensemble attelé de grande taille. Sa piscine nous permet une pause détente méritée. La baraque à frites sur place évite de devoir sortir le soir. Après le second jour de route nous arrivons en fin d'après-midi. Le bateau est vidé totalement, les affaires sont rangées car d'autres travaux sont déjà en prévision. Fin de cette aventure de 2017, mais sont à suivre les travaux d'hiver et la préparation des congés 2018...

We had our meeting scheduled with Michael from Mayer Yacht Services (http://mayeryacht.com) to talk about our options for the rot already, so we had some time to start on other work. We decided to go ahead and get the port openings ready for the glass to be installed.  For the last month or so, I have had all of the glass out of the boat's house.  I had all new safety glass cut for the boat.  Safety glass is laminated sheets of glass, and they are bonded to a skin in the center.  The skin and bonding will keep the window intact if it were to break or get hit with something.  Tempered glass, on the other hand, is what you have in your car.  When it breaks it shatters into a million little pieces.  It is stronger, but a broken port of tempered glass leaves a 3-foot hole in the boat where safety glass would stay in place and would keep the elements out (or at least most of them) See the rest of the blog posts on the refit (along with photos and videos) at svdreamchaser.com (http://svdreamchaser.com) Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We made it back to Ibiza! It’s funny how you can travel to so many places (about 3,500nm approx) and out of all the incredible places we have visited there’s just got to be a favourite…. And for us it has to be Ibiza, it has a special place in our hearts! We decided to spend a week here waiting to hear if Dave get’s a job before the winter sets in (it’s easy to travel to the North Sea from Spain) and what better place to get all our boat jobs done before starting our Atlantic adventure. We settle in a cracking little bay where hull cleaning couldn’t be less of a chore and it just so happens to be where our friends, Si and Jo live! In this episode we get taken out for a great day by Si and Jo on a super fast yacht called ‘Danger Mouse’ We have lots of champagne and laughs while playing around with the Sea-Doo at Formentera and get up close and personal with the Worlds largest sailing yacht ‘A’. We end the week on a perfect high as we have the day sailing to Es Vedra followed by sunset drinks and lots of bad dancing! Wir finden den Halbwindkurs, indem wir so weit vom Amwindkurs abfallen, bzw. vom Raumwindkurs anluven, bis der Verklicker in einem Winkel von 90 Grad zum Boot steht. Hier wartet der sagenumwobene Belomor-Kanal. Eine künstliche Wasserstraße die die Ost- und Barentsee miteinander verbindet und Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts auf Befehl Stalins von zehntausenden Häftlingen und Zwangsarbeitern erbaut wurde. Ein bis heute lebendiges Stück schauriger Sowjetgeschichte inmitten der russischen Wildnis. Insgesamt 19 Schleusen gilt es hier zu überwinden, um bei Belomorsk schließlich ins Weiße Meer zu gelangen. Auch hier warten mit der berühmten Klosterinsel Solowetski und der Nordmetropole Archangelsk große Ziele auf die beiden Abenteurer. Derweil häufen sich leider die schlechten Nachrichten aus der Heimat, denn Guidos Vater ist schwer erkrankt und so steht wohl bald eine Heimreise an. Ein angesichts der russischen Bürokratie fast aussichtloses Unterfangen. Es muß also schnell weiter nach Norwegen gehen.

A lot of Bavaria boats has a leak by the bollard in the stern of the boat, a leak which occurs when a pole hits the bollard and then make the screws loose. When a little water enters below in the wood the whole construction will be loose and will then let in more water and then there are a problem. This time I temporary fix the problem so I can locate where the water seeps in.

Um dos pontos mais importantes a ser verificado com o barco fora da água são os ralos de esgoto e ralos de captação de água do casco. Ao verificar o ralo de captação de água do motor percebemos que o ralo estava muito enferrujado, quando tentamos retirar a mangueira do ralo a conexão de bronze quebrou, já estava muito oxidada por dentro.
