Now we’re planning to sail up and down the west coast of Michigan, during which we want to spend some time at anchor. This multi-week trip will serve as our shakedown sail for leaving our home port of Racine, saying goodbye to Lake Michigan and heading south. Our Tartan 37, though liveaboard capable, was not liveaboard ready when we bought her. The previous owners used her for summer sailing, then tucked her away for the cold months. Since buying the boat, we’ve kept her in a slip at West Shore Marine (the slip was already paid up through the season) which has proved wonderfully convenient for moving aboard and getting to know the boat. But, a sailboat in a slip is more floating apartment than anything else. We have a lot of work to do to prepare the boat for leaving the dock. In this video we start to tick off a handful items on our looooong cruising prep list. The jobs are arguably small, but hey, we have to start somewhere. We take a trip to Ft. Lauderdale Florida to get some fresh brewed coffee at Bean to Brew. Oh, and we also go sailing on a 46' Leopard catamaran in the ICW with Scott and Holly from Sailing the Space Between. We see a mega yacht get drug through some tight quarters while we were at dock. Unfortunately, the seas picked up and were going to make for an unpleasant sail so we didn't actually get to hoist any sails. But we did get to eat tacos and chat with our new friends. After we docked and said our goodbyes it was back to working on Saoirse. We had to remove all of the old hardware clinging on to the piece of boat that came with them, before the no-see-ums ate us alive. Then we celebrated our love with a delicious meal and some bubbly. With the SuperFoiler Grand Prix circuit closing out the 2018 series in Sydney this weekend we look back to an interview we held with Glenn Ashby when the fleet was mid championship in Geelong. At that time Euroflex, with the highly experienced foil crew of Nathan Outteridge, Glenn Ashby and Iain Jensen on board, was leaving the rest of the fleet in their wake with an unbeaten race record. Now with another two regattas under their belts, their winning record broken at the Gold Coast and damage to the boat taking them out of racing for two days at Busselton, Euroflex’s championship lead is now only a narrow two points. For the Sydney Event Euroflex is without Iain Jensen due to a previous sailing commitment and he is replaced by Australian Harry Mighell, winner of the inaugural international WASZP games held on Italy’s famous Lake Garda in August last year. With less than a day to the start of the fifth and final round of the SuperFoiler Grand Prix being held on Sydney Harbour, we’re looking forward to another weekend of close racing with everything on the line with Super Series Double points; it’s winner takes all. We spoke with Glenn Ashby in Geelong about the revolutionary SuperFoiler boat and how it compares with the AC 50’s, the A Class catamarans and moths.

We left Bolougne Sur-Mer and sailed to Cherbourg on this episode. The sail was almost perfect excpet for a strong squall in the midle of the night that scared the sh** out of us. The weather in Cherbourg was horrible and there was no forecast to keep on heading south, so we took our time to fix a bunch of stuff that needed fixing and also eat all the good stuff that France has to offer... Cheese, whine and Baguettes... After geting stuck in Cherbourg for a couple of weeks, the time has come to fly back to Brazil. We had scheduled this flight a long time ago, and although the objective was to have crossed Biscay Bay before that, we didn´t make it that far and had to leave Kauana in Cherbourg. In Brazil we had a lot of work to do, but instead of boring you with all those office hours, we´re showing you the bright side of Brazil, filled with beachlife, roadtrips and all sorts of sports. Somehow it hapened that the Delos crew was actually right at our doorstep and we went on a mission to try and find them, but that´s on the next episode. Thanks for watching guys!! An unexpected Lightning strike to an already damaged tree Scares and startles me. The tree catches on fire briefly, but the camera doesn't pick that up. I run over to have a closer look to find the bark has been exploded off the side of the tree. Grund genug das Revier im Herzen Griechenlands mal genauer unter die Lupe zu nehmen. In diesem Beitrag beleuchten wir die Region mal wieder aus der Sicht eines Seglers und packen die wichtigsten Infos zusammen. Die meisten Charterbasen befinden sich auf den Insel Skiathos oder am Festland in Volos. Aber auch ab Skopelos kann man Schiffe anmieten. Im Gegensatz zu Skiathos, wo es einen Flughafen gibt, muss man aber, wenn mal ab Skopelos chartert, noch einen kleinen Übersetzer mit der Fähre machen. Hier gibt’s nämlich keinen Flughafen. Von den genannten Stützpunkten aus, kann man dann seinen Törn in die vielfältige Inselwelt der nördlichen Sporaden starten. Bei den meisten Ankerplätzen, Stadthäfen und kleinen Anlegern wird man für die Übernachtungen übrigens nicht mal zu Kasse gebeten. Das hört sich nicht nur komisch an – das ist es auch… Wer bisher zum Beispiel nur in Kroatien segeln war, wird es kaum fassen, dass man hier in Griechenland tatsächlich immer noch so gut wie nie für die Liegeplatzgebühren zur Kasse gebeten wird. Und wenn es mal was kostet, ist man mit einer fünfundvierzig Fuss Yacht vielleicht gerade mal bei einem Betrag von zehn bis zwanzig Euro. Auch gut - dann bleibt vor allem genug Geld für die zahlreichen Tavernen in der Bordkasse. Ansonsten kann man das Revier als entspannt aber dennoch sehr vielseitig bezeichnen. Hier gibt es wirklich traumhafte, naturbelassene Sandstrände wie zum Beispiel den Tsugrias Beach auf Skiathos, den man nur über das Wasser erreichen kann oder zum Beispiel den Agios Ioannis Beach auf Skopelos. Das ist übrigens der Strand aus dem Film Mamma Mia. Und zwar der, wo die kleine Kapelle auf dem Felsen zu sehen ist. Dass das Wasser hier überall glasklar ist und die Tavernen und Lokale bestes Mediterranes Essen servieren, versteht sich fast von selbst. Aber zum Essen kommen wir gleich noch. Ich wollte noch kurz anmerken, dass das Revier nicht nur mit seinen natürlichen Schätzen punktet. Wie gesagt -die nördlichen Sporaden sind vielfältig - Auch die Städte sind traumhaft schön und punkten mit Ihren unterschiedlichen Merkmalen. Skopelos beispielsweise ist aufgrund seiner speziellen und wirklich eindrucksvollen Architektur bekannt. Alonissos dagegen bietet unberührte Natur, sowie schöne, große Sandstrände. Und wer etwas mehr Griechischen Lifestyle erleben möchte, der sollte auf jeden Fall nach Skyros und die lebhafte Stadt mit seinem traditionellen Charme erleben. La televisione nella mia stanza di albergo è cosi sottile, una meraviglia dell'ingegno umano. E cosa vi fanno vedere in questa meraviglia dell'ingegno umano? Merda!!!! Quando la crisi si fa sentire il popolo ha bisogno di non pensare, Volete ridere! E' per questo che nel 1940 producevamo soltanto commedie, ma allora fu giusto così... Eravate un popolo di analfabeti, dopo 80 anni torno e vi ritrovo un popolo di analfabeti, con la testa china a fissare lo schermo di un telefono, in uno stato di coma perenne, depressivo, che vi impedisce di guardare ciò che accade intorno a voi, siete senza sogni in balia dei media sociali che vi rendono: soli, invidiosi, e pieni di rancore. I giornali dicono che quella contro il terrorismo Islamico non si puù chiamare guerra di civiltà, sono d'accordo, è una Guerra e BASTA! Non ridete, la notizia e che la stiamo perdendo prima ancora di cominciare a combatterla. Povertà Infantile, povertà fra i giovani, povertà fra gli anziani, disoccupazione, le nascine non sono mai state così basse. Non c'è da stupirsi... chi viorrebbe mettere al mondo dei figli se poi la loro massima aspirazione è quella di diventare dei cuochi. Stiamo correndo incontro all'abbisso!
