Gustaf Lundström is a young buck hailing from the northern reaches of Sweden. One of the latest of a long line of talented shredders to be spat out of Malung’s snowboard academy, the sure kid’s got some swag about his riding – as evidenced in his 2018 highlights clip. As a rider who’s hitting the contest circuit pretty hard, Gustaf’s naturally got all the hectic spins and rail tricks you’d expect, but, refreshingly, he also seems to have inherited that Swedish affection for tweaking hard and experimenting with less run-of-the-mill grabs. This inner city jib contest hosted by Vans Europe's Russian street rider and ambassador Nikita Sekh was set during a friendly backyard party outdoors – it all lasted for 5 hours! Vans Russia built some cool figures and rails, including kink rail with pole jam, donkey rail, a big wall with a creeper rail, etc., whereas the most catchy object was a vintage Russian Volga car – the craziest riders jumped it in the final hour. The invited and amateur Russian riders – Artyom Smolin, Arthur Kurgak, Egor Chebanov, Anton 'Brook' Borodachev, Vitaly Sukhomesov, 12-year-old Pyotr Ershov and many more – did their best to bag swag and cash for tricks, and the Rider of the Day title was won by pro rider Denis 'Bonus' Leontyev.
