Docking fails. Docking disaster single handed. It was the 1.st of December 2017 when I left Valencia, Spain heading south for the Spanish Africa coast. First stop on the way was Denia, about 40 Nm from Valencia. The weather forecasts for the day was pretty chill, and in the Marina in Valencia it was just a little breeze, but all that changed once I was out of the Marina. Winds and waves increased thru out the day and when I entered the Marina in Denia it gusted up to 36 knots and the average was well above 30 knots of wind. It was very difficult to controle the boat as the wind was more powerful than the engine from some angles. I believed the Marina VHF channel was displayed at the entrance to the marina, but it was not. (Yes, I was new to the Mediterranean sailing scene) and I didn't have a marina guide onboard. I ended up smasing hard against the petrol quay where I spent 2 nights before I continued. Boat docking failed, or at least it wasn’t pretty. Riley and Josje left me onboard by myself to go and hike a red hill on the island of La Graciosa. The wind picked up to 32 knots, gusting to 35 and the two boats next to me left to find shelter one having dragged anchor first. I’d stayed home to catch up on some work but because stress levels were through the roof, I didn’t get a thing done. But I’m glad I did stay home, because we would have never of known about the sudden change in the weather all the way up on that hill. One engine wasn’t working and the other wasn’t 100% reliable (the same problem with the control boxes needing replacing and a jump start was required if you wanted to fire it up before then). The final round of the five regatta series was held in Sydney over the weekend with Euroflex taking out the regatta as well as the series and winning the inaugural Ben Lexcen Trophy. Bem vindos a bordo... Nós conseguimos !!! Mas o Google não :/ Fizemos nossa maior travessia... saindo de Buzios ate Ilha Grande... foi uma ótima experiencia ... não queríamos fazer paradas, pois precisamos começar a treinar para travessias maiores, já que pretendemos dar a volta ao mundo !! De pouco em pouco chegamos la... sem pressa... ate porque a pressa é inimiga do velejador !! A travessia foi meio vela, meio motor, definitivamente do Rio de Janeiro para baixo não tem vento !!!! Mas foi uma ótima experiencia , fizemos a travessia em uma media de 5 knots .. quase 150 milhas ... Google que infelizmente nao fez suas necessidades durante essas 30 horas... isso nos preocupa muito !!! Já tentamos de tudo... quando morávamos em Sp ele fazia na fraldinha, e não saia passear todos os dias ... Mas agora virou um cão selvagem e não sabemos mais o que fazer para mudar ... At long last we get to relaunch our boat, a Bavaria 47 named Dream. A few nervous moments as the lift picks the boat up and carries it to the slipway. I attempt to show you how I go about photographing halfpipe with 12 year old Australian snowboarder Valentino Guseli. This is obviously a very basic guide and there is much more that goes into a successful shoot. Essential is a good halfpipe, a good rider and good weather. Camera equipment is not as important, a good wide angle, a zoom and a camera that can shoot around 5-6 frames per second will be fine for this.
