As last year I empty out the small amount of standing water in my watertank so I can fill on some clean and fresh water in the spring, someting I discover is a lot of sand in my tank, maybe pretty normal but still a bit odd the habor has so much sand in the water system. In my examination of my navigation equipment I discover that I have to wait a long time before my gps chartplotter find the satellites, and the NO FIX symbol appears for a long time. In this video I show you why the error appears and how to fix it very cheap.

What better way to celebrate the 12 year old birthday of a boat kid than a mad food fight on a remote white sandy beach in the Caribbean? Our son David turned 12 while we were here in Antigua and we had a great day, starting out with life raft drills with 6 other boat families (we all take safety at sea seriously out here), followed by some crazy fun with the beach food fight, rounding out the day nicely with a beach campfire (including some pinata madness). In this episode we also explore other parts of Antigua including the resort at St James where yachties can tie up for a small fee and use all the resorts pools and toys - including their little Hobie cats which were so much fun. English harbour was a historical beauty and the hike up the mountain to Shirley heights to the lure of the steel drum band party with its amazing views was a highlight of our time here. We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! Semaya, a Navetta 31 is a classic luxury charter yacht, offering comfortable cruising at ten knots with very low fuel consumption. She has five cabins (four double with private bathroom and king size bed, and a fifth cabin with 3 single beds and 1 double), all custom built. Her interior design is a mix of traditional and contemporary style, but with the benefits of modern technology. The only original feature of this super yacht is the hull; the rest (engines, generators, electric & hydraulic systems, furniture and other components) have been completely refurbished. She has a spacious fly bridge, large outdoor spaces with sofas, tables, bimini tops, outdoor TV & audio. She offers an ideal space for sunbathing, relaxing or entertaining. Frewin Island is really paradise found. A tiny village in the centre and a perfect golden sand beach bordering onto a vibrant coral reef, coupled with loads of friendly and curious kids and you have found the right spot. We first decided to come to Langkawi for the tax free imports to the island and the fact there was 4 different boatyards to choose from. We shop around for a boatyard and finally after waiting a week, off to the boat yard we go and are hauled out and life on the hard stand stand begins. We have just sailed 2000nm through Indonesia and have arrived to Malaysia to complete major boat work, ready for the next big adventure. He is teaching us alot and is an excellent communicator as well as an expert marine diesel mechanic. Plus, he has his Master's Captain License and has vast experience sailing on the ocean.
