We woke up in the cockpit by the Limestone cliffs and caves in Kleftiko, Milos, to a wonderful sunrise. Thru the night we felt some gusts coming in but nothing alarming. After coming to life we set sail bound for Naxos but found that winds were strong and gusts were sudden and intense. We had to reconsider about sailing to Naxos and took shelter at the Firiplaka beach on Milos before we set sail for Naxos the next day. We had winds and gusts of gale force on our way and quite gnarly waves sometimes. Sunglasses were salty and life was good! We set sail from the island of Santa Cruz after completing the entry formalities of clearing into The Solomon Islands. We had heard about a fascinating group of islands about 30 miles away. The Reef Islands also known as Swallow Islands and Matema Islands are a group of 16 islands with a population of just over 5000 people. We were particularly interested in one of the small islands, where an English couple settled in the 1950's, obtained a lease, traded and raised a family.

In this episode we visit the Greek port of Volos. Volos is the port where the ship, The Argo, crewed by Jason and the Argonauts set sail from on their venture for the Golden Fleece. Join us as we give you some information about this delightful port and a a bit of history about the place. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it if you are in the area. The town is beautiful with quaint wine bars as well as the traditional Greece. Whilst in Volos we read the book "The Jason Voyage" written by Tim Sevrin who recreated the actual voyage of the Argonauts. Atlantic crossing: 7 weeks to go. I don't get emotional often, but saying goodbye to our friends, leaving Almerimar (this odd place that we came to love so much) and seeing everyone go on their decks to wave us goodbye brought a few tears to my eyes. First part sailing around Guadeloupe and its satellite islands. In this part we sail from Dominica to Les Saintes and pick up Sander from the airport on the main island of Guadeloupe.

After an eventful hospital admission and stay, I make a speedy recovery and we go sailing! The Sillette leg was working and we were child free, which is an exceptionally rare occurance. We had thick fog in the Solent and little wind but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.....and the peace and quiet! After practicing mooring in a new Marina we had a go at anchoring with our new ground tackle and bridle and picked up a mooring ball too (which was harder than we expected) This is as much practice as we get, join us next episode as we finally set off around the world!!! Seit 6 Monaten sind wir mit dem Wohnmobil unterwegs durch Europa und haben schon sehr viele tolle Strände entdeckt. Leider gab es auch an jedem Davon unendlich viel Müll, Plastik Müll. Wir wollen nicht einfach nur zuschauen wie unsere Welt allmählich im Müll versinkt sondern etwas dagegen tun. Daher sammeln wir an jedem Strand mindestens 2h.
