Thanks for joining along as we refit our 39' Trimaran named "White Shark." Denis and Shaun Cleaned the bottom of the boat again. Shaun had an issue with his camera housing but was still able to catch some cool sun rays. We're still working on wiping everything and laying down primer in the port side hull. Almost ready for bilgekote! We've now used 3 quarts of 1026 and have covered less than 1/3 of the boat. We thought the paint was the expensive part. We didn't even think about how much the primer was going to cost us! The fumes are definitely as bad as they say. Just a couple minutes without PPE will give you a headache. The smell reminds Shaun of a bowling alley. In this episode we leave Saint George Grenada and head to Ronde, a private island just north of Grenada. We go searching for some lobsters with our friends from Tula’s Endless Summer...and boy oh boy do we land some MONSTERS. The island is PERFECT for a nice little bonfire where we cook up our catches. After that the anchorage gets pretty swelly, so Beau fashions up a swell bridle and we are the only ones left in the anchorage. We head out to find some more lobsters and BAM! Catch another BIG guy! In this episode we show how we upgraded our SD50 sail drives on our Lagoon 450 to alleviate the problem of the slipping cone clutch, which is an extremely common issue with these saildrives. Also, on our way into Rio Dulce, Guatemala, the sail drive developed a loud, disconcerting ticking noise, which I had no idea where it was coming from after dismantling the unit. However, as a huge coincidence, while upgrading this unit, the ticking noise disappeared. Since this episode was filmed we have sailed over 2000 miles, using the engines on regular occasions, and the sail drives have not skipped a beat. Do we spend time in a big city or find a secluded anchorage? We were about to skip Bergen altogether, but fate had other plans for us. Between dodging squalls, we have one beautiful and sunny day as we cross into new territory on the coast of Norway. We're prepared to wait out another strong blow in an anchorage just outside of Bergen..but find they don't take kindly to people dropping the hook. So, into the city center we go. Once the weather clears up again we tour the town and take the train up to the lookout for some spectacular views of the city and fjords. Enjoy! Objectif formation pour ce partenariat : les stagiaires pourront s’exercer à la navigation en solitaire à l’utilisation des systèmes d’alerte et d’aide à la récupération d’homme à la mer, mais pas seulement… fonctionnement de l’AIS et performance sont au programme de nos formations embarquées. Le Rebelle est équipé d’un système de pilote automatique nke. Celui-ci apporte : - un confort à bord quand il fait nuit, quand la visibilité est mauvaise, quand il pleut ou que les conditions ne sont pas évidentes. Un équipier est mieux à la veille, reposé et disponible plutôt que scotché à la barre. - une sécurité supplémentaire grâce à la fonction MOB (homme à la mer) qui n’est pas une option mais incluse dans chaque télécommande. En cas de chute d’un équipier, l’ensemble de l’équipage sera prévenu par une alarme sonore, le bateau sera mis automatiquement face au vent par le pilote et l’afficheur indiquera la distance et le cap pour rejoindre le malheureux. Et en plus, elle flotte ! - une autonomie de plus car grâce au pilote automatique, plus besoin d’appeler Pierre, Paul ou Jacques, vous avez toujours un bon barreur à bord. - un élément indispensable pour la navigation en double ou en solitaire.
