Part of my goal is to link with students and classes while I am saying as part of the Great Pacific Learning Project. I want to learn and I hope I can enable others to learn as well. We had a really good passage from Mallorca to Menorca though, where we are now seeing more boats but still not many holiday makers on land. We wanted to get to Mahon, Menorca's capital, quickly as thats where our dinghy has been sent. It's a True Fit 2.5 meter dinghy from New Zealand and looks great. It's always all about HER. The most important crew member on board, and the one that always needs the most attention. And it's our job to keep that little furball happy. We do a lot of exploring from where we are anchored in the River Lynher in Cornwall, just outside of Plymouth. Georgie gets to go ashore in Wacker Quay, and then later us humans take the dinghy up to St. Germans to see their viaduct. When the weather lets up from the strong winds we'd been having, we go a few miles down to Barn Poole in the Plymouth Sound, and take a trip ashore to see the famous Edgecumbe Estate. A Tudor style home built in the 16th century, which suffered massive damage during a blitz in WWII. There's so much beauty and history in this area, one could spend weeks cruising all the nooks and crannies of the greater Plymouth area. We hope you enjoy! Much love from England! In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Est ce que quelqu’un a une idée 💡😁 Captain Choupi😅 ✍15 juillet, comment ne pas s’émerveiller de la silhouette solennelle de ce baobab dans le vermillon du levant ! À contre-lumière, dans leur Jahazi à moteur, nous les voyons rentrer de leur nuit de labeurs. Sur chaque embarcation, une dizaine de pêcheurs, ceux-là sont bien visibles, mais il nous faut rester vigilants car les Mtumbwi, plus petits et à voile, sont au raz de l’eau ! Parsemés inégalement le long de la côte, à la dérive, ils entrainent chacun, un vaillant homme, une palangre à la main vers son devoir quotidien. La tâche qui semble si ordinaire pour tous ces braves reste pour nous, un grand mystère. Rien, toujours rien sur nos leurres mais nous nous réconfortons en nous disant que tout provient de la vitesse de Black Lion ! Seulement voilà, aujourd’hui avec le peu de vent, notre Blacky ne bat pas des records et la distance optimiste de 71 milles ne va pas pouvoir être atteinte par mon capitaine avant la nuit, après tout qu’importe, nous n’avons aucune obligation et ne sommes pas pressés. La baie de Kiswere sera pour la nuit une escale juste parfaite… Tant de milles parcourus depuis le Pacifique et nous sommes là, seuls, devant ce village. Les occupants des deux pirogues qui sont venus nous voir, s’attendaient à ce que nous descendions à terre ce soir mais d’ici, le spectacle est trop beau, nous les rejoindrons demain ! Serions-nous devant une peinture vivante grandeur nature ? Même les odeurs y sont ! Et pendant que nous imaginons le poisson frire, emportés, nous contemplons ces scènes de vie de quelques décennies. En muzungus inattendus, sans vouloir déranger, nous avons le désir de partager avec la population, d’échanger, d’apprendre. Le désir est-il réciproque ou intéressé ? Sur la plage, nous nous mêlons à la remontée du poisson, tout le monde se presse pour avoir sa part du butin. Il semble que nous soyons bienvenues. Aysha nous a repéré, enjouée, elle nous fait comprendre de la suivre au village. Elle danse, parle fort, se fait remarquée avec nous à ses côtés. Elle nous amène près de sa famille, et au centre des habitations, les présentations commencent… De ce que nous comprenons, il y a son bébé, le papa, la maman et sa sœur, qui, assise sur un tabouret prépare des sortes de galettes alléchantes, les chapatis. Nous en aurons sept pour deux milles Shillings soit environs quatre-vingt centime d’euros. Entre les maisons en terre, les tout petits se cachent ! Comme dans la rivière de Lukilidi où, quant à notre vue, les canotiers s’éclipsaient dans la nature, ici, nous faisons peurs aux bambins mais nos sucettes ont raison de leur frayeur et nous nous retrouvons avec un cortège d’enfants pour faire le tour du village ! Au début, timorés, nous sentons bien, au cours de la visite un relâchement tentant à nous solliciter. Tant que nous étions avec Aysha, nous étions en quelque sorte ménagés et plus nous nous rapprochons de l’annexe, plus les demandes se font insistantes. Des palmes, tubas, chaussures de foot… Tout ça, est de bonne guerre, et finalement ne sommes-nous pas une opportunité et une incitation à l’acquisition ? 16 juillet, je sais que cette courte escale restera une étape marquante de la Tanzanie. Étions-nous dans un jour propice à la perception ou est-ce tout simplement l’authenticité de ces instants qui nous a touchée ? Je ne saurais le dire et peut-être bien, qu’un autre bateau, à un autre moment, le vivra totalement différemment ! Mais c’est ça qui fait la singularité de chaque voyage, l’état d’esprits dans lequel nous nous trouvons juste à ce point, dans le temps ! La vie nous fera-t-elle revenir par ici, nous en savons absolument rien comme nous ne savons pas de quoi sera fait de-main ! La routine, ce n’est pas pour nous ! Chaque jour doit être une nouvelle aventure, une nouvelle découverte et une nouvelle journée où je dis à l’homme de ma vie, combien j’aime notre vie !

Partis de Port-de-Bouc à 7h15, nous avons parcourus pratiquement 47 miles avec 25/35 noeuds de mistral. Nous étions au portant, donc plus agréable, mais nous étions quand même bien secoués. Nous avons ensuite caboté entre Sanary, La Ciotat et Cassis. Un petit périple de 4 jours bien agréable.
