Als Corona kommt, geht die Crew. Sebastian Kummer ist allein auf dem Meer. Kein Land darf er mehr ansteuern. Der Beginn einer unglaublichen Odyssee. Es beginnt als ein normaler Segeltörn. Mitte Februar bricht Sebastian Kummer in Frankreich auf, um einen werftneuen Katamaran von der Atlantikküste in die Türkei zu überführen. Mit wechselnden Crews will der Wirtschaftsprofessor zunächst nach Göcek segeln und von dort ein anderes Schiff nach Kroatien segeln. Knapp 4000 Seemeilen liegen vor ihm. Dann kommt Corona und die Crew geht. Eine 90-tägige Odyssee voller Bangen und Hoffen beginnt. Ein Land nach dem anderen schließt die Grenzen. Keinen Hafen darf der Segler mehr ansteuern. Kummer ist allein auf dem weiten Meer. In Griechenland vertreibt ihn die Küstenwache mit vorgehaltener Maschinenpistole, in der Türkei versteckt sich der 57-Jährige wochenlang in abgelegenen Buchten. Er nennt es sein „Niemandsland“. Der Professor ist zum Piraten geworden, verfolgt und vogelfrei. Kummer nimmt sein Schicksal an. Mit grenzenlosem Optimismus und einer großen Portion Selbstironie erlebt er die „schönste Quarantäne der Welt“. Dann meldet sich ein mysteriöser Vermittler. Hat der Mann wirklich Verbindungen in höchste diplomatische Kreise oder ist er ein Scharlatan? Das Schicksal des deutschen Wirtschaftsprofessors aus Wien bewegte die Menschen. Aus seinem Versteck gab Kummer Dutzende Interviews für Zeitungen und Magazine, Radiosender und Fernsehstationen in Europa. In der Türkei schaffte er es auf die Titelseite der „Hürriyet“. Der Journalist und Autor Jens Brambusch hat zusammen mit Kummer dessen Notizen, Tage- und Logbucheinträge ausgewertet. Das Buch gestattet intime Einblicke in Kummers Odyssee, erzählt von Segelabenteuern auf hoher See und handelt von der Einsamkeit eines Mannes, der plötzlich und schuldlos von jedem Land verbannt wird. Our family sailing adventure this week was at Oneroa on Waiheke Island and then Motuihe Island with friends. Oneroa is one of our favourite places to visit, Blake and Toby swing off the side of the boat using the spinnaker halyard, go to shore, see the rock caves, crabs and everyone gets a little scared when dad pretends to pull out a big crab. We then motor over to Motuihe Island, we take some beautiful drone shots of the Island, find a few bird feathers before heading back to the marina. We also hope you like our new Sea Shepherd gear. We also hope you like our Sea Shepherd supporters gear! Post lockdown in NZ things have got a little busy, so has taken longer than expected to publish this video. We still have a couple more to go for this season. We are two brothers, aged 4 and 7, who love going on sailing family adventures - exploring the outdoors and finding super cool wild animals, bugs and marine life. So along with our parents, we’re sailing the world, exploring islands, and looking for interesting wildlife. We start our adventure sailing New Zealand but dream of sailing around the Mediterranean some day. We love our planet and want to look after our environment, so through our travels we hope other kids will feel inspired to care for our planet and wildlife too. In this video, I demonstrate how easy it is to check the system polarity WITHOUT opening a single cabinet. Many times we mix on PA Systems that are not our own and not all that familiar with. I demonstrate an easy way to check the polarity that can be easily done in a few minutes. Run the impulse starting with the kick drum channel and send it all the way thru the entire signal chain. From there you can easily measure if the subs are in polarity. Move up to the Tops as well and check those. Last but not least, you can even check stage monitors. Once you have confirmation all the gear is in positive polarity on a "System" level, especially left to right, you can then decide if a channel polarity flip is needed. Why spend time EQ-ing a PA system if you are not sure what the polarity is. This will save you more time in the long run & will rule out such issues once the show starts. On this episode of WE|Sail, we sail the last of the Pacific Panamanian Coast for Costa Rica. With SV Wolfhound still by our side together we find one beautiful anchorage tucked away with not another boat in sight. We sail into a secluded bay where most can only reach by boat with no roads reaching this coast. There we enjoy a few days of isolation with only the sounds of nearby wildlife playing along the rainforest covered coast. At the time we were unsure if going on land or not was permitted, so we opted to stay away from land and obey the rules, which meant staying on the boat and only exploring uninhabited islands and venturing out in the dinghy. Before living on a boat, I would have thought 14 days in a small space would have been very difficult! But we have gotten so use to close living, and have set up our little routines that it is now a way of life. The only time it felt small was when it was raining, which it did a lot of! But we have now set up our outdoor screens which keeps the cockpit dry, and gives us an extra room! Although it is still very warm in there! In the mornings we got a lot of school revision done, as well as a couple boat jobs. During the afternoon we explored our surroundings, from mangroves, beaches and surf spots. We even met a few cheeky monkey's! We ended up have a great time! After being in the marina for so long the boys had gotten very use to having wifi on demand, so towards the end of the 14 days they were itching to go on land. To be honest so were we! The two weeks flew by, and looking back we did so much! We are loving being back at anchor, and can't wait to see more of Panama and be able to sail off to the San Blas islands, when they open!
