We drive the RV to Arches National Park to check out the "Old Maid's Bloomers" - which is another name for The Delicate Arch. Honestly, I think I like the Old Maid's version better. Much more creative, and a bit less direct - you know? Anyways - this video actually covers 2 days at Arches National Park. The first day kinda sucked. Bad moods, bad weather (for filming, at least), too busy, etc. We felt bad for the lack-luster filming, so we gave it another shot. Having missed seeing The Delicate Arch on the first day, we made it out primary objective to hike to the arch on the second day. i needed a longboard (block sander) for a project i'm working on because i "lost" the only one i had. Since i had materials i decided to make my own. This is an integral tool when it comes to boat building. Being able to sand a something on a curve or making sure that your finish is flat can really only be obtained by a longboard. if you'd like to make one there will be plans on my patreon. A CONCORD YACHT CLUB Is a brief, video introduction to the club in Knoxville, TN.
I can't think of a worse thing to happen right now, just as we got all of this fresh food. And now it's all going bad. 😭 Things were going so well... Then the drama begins when stuff starts to break. Just after getting stocked up with fresh food both our freezers decide to stop working and all our hard won food starts to rot in the tropical heat. Luckily we live in the best neighborhood EVER and our fellow sailors come to the rescue with repair skills and supplies. Our little sailing community comes together for a full day of moonshining on the beach, old school style with a pot still powered by beach driftwood! Hope you enjoy this episode! Sailing Grand Cayman to Chesapeake MD part 1 – Hallberg-Rassy 54 Cloudy Bay -May 2020. Season20 Ep19
Part 1 of our 1,200 miles passage from Grand Cayman to the Chesapeake, on our Hallberg-Rassy 54. A long spinnaker run to Cuba, then lively sailing in the gulf-stream to Florida. After 2 months of Covid-19 lockdown in Grand Cayman, with the hurricane season approaching, we needed to move. Due to all Caribbean and central American borders still closed to yachts, we reluctantly decided to sail 1,200nm north back to the safety of Herrington Harbour in the Chesapeake, USA. This video, part 1 of the passage, takes us from Grand Cayman to West Palm in Florida via the Yucatan Channel at the western end of Cuba, then north up the Gulf Stream. We flew the ISTEC Parasailor spinnaker for over 33 hours on the first leg; got hit by thunderstorms close to Florida Keys, and had a wonderful fast run passed Miami and Lauderdale before coming into the tranquil Lake Worth at West Palm, Florida. 15 May - 1 Jun 2020
When I visited SeaNet Europe in Croatia last year I was fascinated by their business model that allowed clients to co-own a super yacht at the fraction of the price that it would cost to fully own one. Since then their progress has been incredible, I went back to Croatia to find out just HOW incredible.

Finally!!! We are allowed to sail BUT . . . . Only within the district of Antalya, but hey, who's complaining. We're like a bunch of school kids being allowed out on a week night. Join us on our first 2 sails of the season. We were allowed to sail on a Monday, to be back in the Marina before the next weekend's lockdown, which normally started on a Friday and ended on a Sunday midnight. As the season draws to a close we decide to milk a few extra weeks out of the summer season. We cruise with winter friends, explore a 10th century BC citadel and find a dunny with a great view.
From Namibia to Brazil, crossing the South Atlantic ocean we sailed on our catamaran 3200 nautical miles (nearly 6000 kilometeres). After 25 days of an ocean passage we came into a big bay - Bahia de Todos os Santos. We decided to sail first to Itaparica island and give us a rest. The last night before arriving to Salvador we didn’t have much sleep. It was pretty much traffic – fishing boats, tankers, squalls, rains. But we were in a really good mood – We made it again! Second ocean crossing! Ola Brazil! We chilled in Itaparica. Strolling the streets, listening brazilian street music and enjoing famous Bahian food. “Itaparica island is seen as a green spot on the blue background of the sea. It is so smooth near the shore that it seems that you can see stones at the bottom.” – Jorge Amado Few weeks later we sailed across the bay to beautiful anchorages on Ilha Dos Frades and Ilha do Bom Jesus dos Passos. Light breeze, sunsets woven from heat and gold and local saiing boats gliding over the waters of Bahia. For the first time since Madagascar we were able to clean the hulls underwater from tons of barnacles and algae. For this we beached our catamaran and worked hard between lowest and highest tide. Now was the time to sail to Salvador and explore the most mysterious and beautiful city in the world. “When I talk about the main capital of this northern people, everyone understands that we are talking about the city of Bahia, often called, no one knows why, Salvador.” – Jorge Amado This city is full of joy, music and dance. The streets are filled with delicious flavors of Bahian cuisine and stories of famous Bahian writer Jorge Amado. We read few of his books before we came to Salvador and it was such an amazing feeling – like we’re just in his books! We have never had such a wonderful guide book! “Here, in Pelourinho, in this free university, the people create their art. Here is his cradle. And professors and teachers - in every house, in every shop, in every workshop.” – Jorge Amado We were very impressed with Bahian moqueca and came to the Cuco Bistro to learn how to make it. Don’t miss it – in our next film we’ll share with you all secrets of this fantastic fish stew. After 1,5 month exploring Bahia de Todos os Santos we sailed 60 nautical miles south to Camamu. This bay is full of small channels and calm anchorages – holiday area for us. Here we wanted to relax and enjoy simple joys – good food, silence, friendly people, tropical fruits and flowers, secluded beaches, colourful sunsets. Can you imagine? 4 weeks of doing nothing! Ok, ok, we were working a bit on our fims and photos. Those weeks run fast and finally it was time to come back to Salvador to provision for the next ocean passage and check out from Brazil. Our 3 months of Brazilian Holidays are finished and we have to move on. Cruisers reality. A bit more than 2500 nauticals miles are in front of us. We’re ready to sail to our favorite island in the Caribbean – Tobago. Just before we left our watermaker broke. Luckily we got enough water from the land before this long ocean passage.
