In this video; Sailing is only part of the adventure! Sailing for most 'cruiser sailors' is only about 15% of the time out here living aboard. Most sailors just drop the hook and hang out at anchor, but not this Trio. We like to get off the boat and explore the countries we anchor in. In this video we're off on a road trip to the interior of the Yucatan peninsula from Cancun to the yellow town of Izamal. We're exploring ancient Pyramids, fresh water Cenotes and making lots of stops along the way... Get more by joining us on Patreon. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time. Cleaning fibreglass and Gelcoat can be time consuming and messy if you use power hoses or steam cleaners and both of the techniques can still leave stains due the pours properties of fibreglass and gel coat. Many of the most hard clean stain in fibreglass are a result of small particles of metal (often in the form of rust) getting sucked into the fibreglass. The best way to address this is with an Oxalic Acid based cleaning solution. The acid penetrates the fibreglass de-solving the stain which can return even the most stained fibre glass back to near new. An Oxalic Acid cleaning solution not only attacks rust stains, it works equally well with mould, algae or anything else that has passed into the fibre glass through osmosis. Most of the commercial fibreglass cleaners have Oxalic acid as their primary ingredient, rather than paying over the odds for expensive products you should purchase some oxalic acid and make your own fibreglass or Gel Coat cleaner for a fraction of the cost. OXALIC Acid 99.6% 2 Lb. Crystals https://amzn.to/34keh3v OXALIC Acid 99.6% 5 Lb. Crystals https://amzn.to/31j0kk9 To mirror the commercial cleaning products add some detergent and wallpaper paste powder and you will get a product which you can apply to any surface. 1 litre of luke warm water 200g Oxalic acid powder 50mls car wash detergent (any mild liquid detergent) Wallpaper paste powder (to required consistency) Add the acid to the water then slowly add some paste powder until mix starts to thicken. Stop short of the consistency you need and let it sit for a few minutes, it will thicken further, finally add the detergent and give it a final mix. Brush on, leaving for 10-15 mins before pressure washing off to reveal your sparkling hull. Once you are clean it is a good option to neutralise the acid with some borax. Just throw on some borax and mop it around before you mop up the acid remains. We hope you enjoyed the latest episode as the team at bottom up boats restores their Mumm 36. SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. Nordhavn 40 - Sea Trek is an ocean ready, full displacement trawler that can truly travel to almost any place you can imagine. The Nordhavn 40 design is the smallest passage maker built by PAE. A sistership completed a 26-week circumnavigation in 2001. The Nordhavn 40 platform is solid, stable, and capable - engineered to safely take you across the ocean or along the coast in an economical package that has no equal in this size and price range. Saloon: 01:23 Galley: 02:04 Lower Level: 02:55 Head: 03:10 Guest Stateroom: 03:38 Owners Stateroom: 03:54 Engine Room: 04:40 Pilothouse: 05:47 Foredeck: 07:18 Boat Deck: 08:18 Flybridge: 08:43 Cockpit: 09:10 Lazarette: 09:38 The 40 is the sixth design in the Nordhavn series. She was conceived to create an entry level vessel that an adventurous couple could use to explore with an “out of the box” range of 3,000 miles. Most of the people who buy a Nordhavn 40 are owner operators, whether new or seasoned they appreciate the generous interior accommodations (saloon and galley on the entry level, raised pilothouse and two staterooms with one head on the lower level) and seakindly ride through the water with home comforts and conveniences. Sea Trek is a first generation (US built) Nordhavn 40 – hull 32 out of 44 produced in southern California by legendary cruising sailboat builder, Pacific Seacraft. When this California builder faltered at hull 44, PAE/Nordhavn shipped the tooling to the Nordhavn yard in China to continue production starting with hull 45 and differentiated the two versions in this series as Mark I US made, and Mark II China built. The saloon is spacious because it is pushed out on both sides, no wasted space filled with rarely used walking side decks. Sea Trek was ordered with the optional fly bridge, which provides an excellent outdoor area above the pilothouse for taking command underway or relaxing when at rest. Following in the footsteps of the older and larger siblings that preceded her, the Nordhavn 40 established a production hallmark that set the standard for all Nordhavn models to follow. Starting with highly polished tooling, she has a solid fiberglass hull layup with integrated swim platform. The deck layout took advantage of many preferred features including a recessed anchor well on the bow, built-in deck boxes on the foredeck and a Portuguese bridge. Outside and up some steps, takes you to the boat deck and flybridge. The dinghy is mounted aft (athwartships) and the mast supported boom is used to launch and retrieve the tender. Nearly (70) Nordhavn 40s have been produced, approximately 44 in the US and 30 in China. The rising costs of materials and labor has pushed the new boat price for a well outfitted Nordhavn 40 into an uncomfortable territory. Fortunately, the quality construction and owner care supports a high residual value for brokerage (used) boats that have kept this model increasingly popular for nearly over two decades with no end in sight. #JMYS, #Nordhavn40, #TalkThroughTour, #Trawlers Jeff Merrill | mobile +1 949.355.4950 (call or text) | email: Jeff@JMYS.com Please subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/JeffMerrillYachts?sub_confirmation=1 Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jeffmerrillyachtsales/?fref=nf Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/merrillyachts Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmystrawlers/ Jeff Merrill Yacht Sales, Inc. #JMYS (licensed and bonded yacht brokerage in California and Florida). Vivez l’aventure Fish of the Day à bord du Merry Fisher 795 ! World under Sails, episode 27. Lockdown on Martinique! Eight weeks of everyday life on board with a strict curfew, then the great freedom on a dream island without tourists ... http://annamera.de Seit sechs Jahren leben wir unseren Traum von einer Weltreise unter Segeln. Denn unsere Bootssuchen stehen an erster Stelle. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans.

In this week's video, we spend some time on Gwynn Island, VA. It's all sun & games...until a MASSIVE lightning storm rolls in! (Oh, boy) We find ourselves braving the storm at anchor, without any protection from land. The Captain does his best to secure our vessel (and full-time home) from the storm. It was very scary - but the video footage is pretty cool! The next day, we snoop around the area a little more and come across a researcher (and his dog, Bo) that give us the low-down on all of the oyster beds that we saw in the Piankatank River. To learn about the oyster restoration efforts happening in the Chesapeake Bay, visit the Nature Conservancy website: https://www.nature.org/en-us/about-us/where-we-work/united-states/virginia/stories-in-virginia/oyster-restoration-in-va/ Thanks for joining us on this adventure! We can continue cruising the cut now that the Canal and River Trust have fixed the broken lock that held us up last week so we can leave the Stourbridge Canal at Stourton Junction and head South on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. The journey itself was proving to be pretty uneventful until we saw a familiar boat on the horizon. It wasn't just any boat however, as you may just recognise this one from BBC4 Canal Boat Diaries! After being starstruck by this encounter with a canal boat celebrity, we finally make it to Kinver just before the sun sets. ⏱ Missed the last episode? A Panama Canal crossing with your own sailboat – what can be more exciting than that? After hard preparation circumstances due to the set-in rainy season, an indimidating crocodile, nasty termites (ahh! We have a wooden superstructure!) distracting us in the marina and troubles clearing out of Panama, we finally pass the 51nm (82km) long man-made canal and Gatun Lake in one day being raised and lowered 27m from Atlantic to Pacific sea level along with huge cargo ships in three sets of locks.

In this the 29th episode of The Art of Boat Building I work on shaping the deadwood and forefoot for the Haven 12 1/2. The deadwood and the forefoot continue and fill in the shape of the keel. The forefoot is located at the front of the ballast keel and helps complete the shape of the keel into the stem. The deadwood is located aft of the ballast keel and ends with the stern post that is in line with the transom. Two woods are used, white oak for the forefoot and stern post and Douglas fir for the deadwood. “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” -Bob Emser- Subscribe for more Boat Building from The Art of Boat Building: https://www.youtube.com/user/bobemser/featured?sub_confirmation=1 Share this video with a friend: https://youtu.be/rx7NdRDsMFU How to support The Art of Boat Building.
