Ahoy! We’re on the Northern coast of Sardinia in this video, sailing around the Maddalena islands with our friends. We leave from Palau, go to the exclusive small resort of Porto Rafael, then head across to the beautiful Maddalena islands, which is a national park with incredible beaches. We have some friends spend the week with us, we drop the hook in Cala Coticcio, and we dodge lots of rocks, trying to enter through the shallow passage named ‘Dead Man’s Passage’ which is in between the 3 islands of Razzoli, Budelli and Santa Marta. We do some beach yoga on Razzoli and enjoy the sunset. We sail across to Spargi, Lars goes free diving and marks our anchor chain every 5 metres with line and we go for an evening explore on land. We’re the only people on the island, and we find an abandoned network of old bunkers… which creeped us out a bit but was exciting..! Thanks for watching! We go for a shakedown sail on the new captain's sailboat, SV Intrepid. Does he know how to sail? He thinks its a pleasure sailing trip - but really... its an interview - and there are at least 10 interview questions for the new captain of this sailboat! The other reason for this sail, was to sail back to Hout Bay, South Africa where Patrick Childress, Rebeccas late husband, spent his last days before covid hit him hard. Good of the new captain to sail there knowing this. It took two attempts at sailing to get there. Our second attempt was a success and we had a great sail! We spent a few nights at anchor and one in the marina, to see how we get along on a small sail boat. The two rambunctious sails where Rebecca gets a little seasick, are just the beginning of the interview! This is the beginning of a new adventure. Enjoying every time on my WETA, no matter what the wind conditions are. There is always something to improve and I mainly find it out after I am watching the videos I recorded. It has been a great day out again, with very low winds. In this video I am testing camera angles and the use of FCPX Software to synchronize the two angles of the cameras and show the outcome on a split screen. I am new to FCPX. I like the SW, gives a lot of possibilities but also needs time to explore all this. Any feedback is welcome. The cameras I am using here, an old GoPro fixed on the Gennaker pole and a Insta 360 OneX at the stern. In the video I am playing around with boat handling, tacking with reduced speed loss, balancing the boat by moving the weight at time and position. Trimming sails and testing my Cunningham modification. The conditions as mentioned low winds, very tricky, lots of wind shifts.

It's time for some real Cape Verde sailing. I just have a few projects to finish, and will sail into the night. At midnight we set sail for a 30 plus hour passage from the island of Sao Vicente to Maio island in Cape Verde Africa. Conditions are as expected. Strong but constant winds for the most part, but the swell and wind waves cross and bounce me and Galopin at a good pace. We are always sailing from spot to spot searching for that perfect anchorage with beautiful sandy beaches, and we finally found it right out side of La Paz, Mexico. We have been sailing in the Sea of Cortez for several months now and have seen some seriously incredible places, but this spot we find is the best of all of them! It has a huge perfect horseshoe shaped beach, crystal clear waters with plenty of fish and an epic hike to the ridge where you can see the whole anchorage with the sunset!
