Unsere "Mola Mola" haben wir in Arrecife zurückgelassen und sind mit "Indigo Moon" Mitte November über den Atlantik nach Antigua gesegelt. Es war eine sehr gute Überfahrt und wir hatten eher zu wenig als zu viel Wind! Besonders schön war das Gefühl frei und unbehelligt von Corona zu sein! 24 Tage waren wir auf See, zum ersten mal mit einem Katamaran. Das enorme Platzangebot und die moderaten Schiffsbewegungen ließen uns fast vergessen, dass es doch immerhin 3000 Seemeilen waren, die wir hinter uns gelassen haben. Aber wo ist die Zeit hin?? Nicht einen Moment der Langenweile, stets gute Stimmung und erfolgreiches Hochseeangeln... das werden wir nie vergessen! Anfang Dezember geht es nochmal zur Inspektion ins Wattenmeer. Der Watt'n Segler 2 soll nun über Winter im Wasser bleiben. Aktuell wütet der kleine "Tüten- Kalkröhrenwurm" in einigen Häfen und macht so manchen Schiffseigner sorge am sein Unterwasserschiff. Dieses möchte ich checken und gucken wie es bei mir so am Unterwasserschiff aussieht. Zudem möchte ich ein paar kleinere Wartungsarbeiten zum Winter durchführen. Den Bootslift spare ich mir und fahre somit zum trockenfallen auf eine Sandbank im Wattenmeer. Dort führe ich dann diverse kleine Arbeiten am Boot aus. Das kalte Wasser und Wetter machen mir dann das Vorhaben da draußen nicht so leicht... Wenn du Lust hast, kannst du mich am Bildschirm begleiten … mehr im Film! Ahio... One of the keel hanger bolt was missing and one sheared off.The only way to drill out the bolt is to take the whole keel down. The good thing is, while we are at the boatyard, it is a fairly easy process with the help of the crane. It is also a good chance to inspect the keel hanger condition.

Endlich haben wir den Absprung geschafft. Laut Wetterbericht tut sich nun, ein für uns passendes Wetterfenster auf. Und so verlassen wir Klaipeda, wo wir die letzten 14 Tage viel erlebt haben. Der Anfang ist sehr schaukelig, wie ich immer zu sagen pflege. Zwischendurch verlässt uns der Wind aber die Welle bleibt. Die Fahrt ist unangenehm und gipfelt in einen Sturm, der mitten in einer mondlosen Nacht über uns fegt. Aber wir kommen sicher in Polen/Leba an. As we sailed from Mooloolaba to the Wide Bay Bar crossing, we encountered some confused seas. Mahina suffered the consequences with a major breakage. Then, going through the Sandy Straits the next day, we ran aground just before low tide and we were obliged to sit it out for a few long hours until the tide was high enough for us to break free. I have to say it was a very stressful time for me (Mimi) and my anxiety went through the roof...I filmed myself with my I-phone to help deal with it, like a diary. I didn't intend to put it on here (I much prefer being behind the camera!!) but in the end I thought it was important to share the lows as much as the highs. It was the first time I experienced such force with strong winds and waves rocking the boat while being aground. But in the end, we finally got to our destination and it was paradise on earth. I think it was well worth all the troubles along the way. Shane wrote a beautiful poem at the end of the video as he has been doing with each episode. It is very poignant. Wahine is leaving her home of nearly ten years and on Valentines Day she said goodbye to past crew and friends.. She seemed to take it in good grace but the skipper was a tad emotional! Also this week was my last work out at the UFC Gym, sailing with the news sails, testing the storm jib and more. So now it is working long hours everyday getting ready to leave Feb 28th. Much to do including a second inspection after the life raft arrives for my permit to sail offshore. Season 3: the Voyage will premier on my Birthday March 20th. Some reef fish species form spawning aggregations, often at reef promontories that have strong current. These sites are very fishy, and it is no surprise that these sites are also important for local fisheries. We are trying to find a safe spot, a typhoon is coming and the winds are expected to be in excess of 60 to 70 knots. There are already quite a large number of ships that have turned up to shelter, in the mangroves.
