We try to piece together the previous owner's frame and adjust it since we're leaving the WHOLE RIG UP! If COVID restrictions stay in place when the ice melts, we'll be ready to sail and not have to wait for boatyards or marinas to open:) And, of course, our wind generator brake is broken, so we have to tie it off so it doesn't make noise all winter long...SO Michel must climb the mizzen mast! Or actually, Talia must winch him up the mast! Naomi is going to university to study architecture. She will love our creative capital, Wellington. Even though it's sad, we enjoy the journey in typical Nikau style. We hit the road showing you how diverse New Zealand landscape is. Exploring Wellington city, enjoying concerts and discovering Naomis new home on campus. September 2020 We have a mizzen staysail what we never used before. Time to check it out. It didn't go that well, when we took it down we went faster. But gave us a nice shade for a while. A learning moment for sure. We'll get better with more use. We wanted a furler for the storm jib on our inner forestay and also a new one of the same brand (Selden) for our Genoa before we put on our new sails. So these were added in Lemmer by DeVries Maritiem. They will also be making our new sails. Music by Troy and Paula Haag Michael also tried his hand at making some music. He's used to be an engineer/producer and is not a musician. Hope it doesn't hurt your ears. Enjoy watching

Sailing Catamaran mast climb and Rig Check. We climb the mast on our sailing catamaran In this video we show how we go up the 12 metres mast of 'Double Trouble'. Safety is paramount and we always use a main and backup line as well as a good harness and rope handling techniques. Jo supervises from the deck while I go up the mast and check for chafe and wear of the various stays, rigging attachments, ropes and electronics that make up our mast. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love
