We eventually leave Linton bay and sail up to the entrance of the Panama Canal. We wanted to get measured for our canal crossing before we went to explore Bocos Del Toro. We had a perfect sail there, with good winds and seas. It was amazing to see all the large tankers and cargo ships anchored outside the breakwater wall. I think we counted over 60 of them! We entered Shelter Bay Marina, which is a very well known marina for all cruisers who want to cross the canal into the Pacific. It offers many services for the cruiser including a free bus service to the city to get supplies. Set in the middle of the jungle it is also a fantastic destination. Every evening we would take a walk into the jungle and enjoy the sights and sounds of the animals settling down for the night. We saw everything from monkeys to sloth and even Cawaties, which are similar to Lemors and Racoons. The kids loved the pool, sadly we very rarely got a chance to swim, as we were getting all our boat jobs done. Being in a marina always entails work. There is endless supply of water, which means the boat always gets a good scrub, and we have the dock space to unpack and sort, which we can’t do on anchor. The staff at Shelter Bay are amazing, always happy to help with big smiles on their faces. We absolutely love this marina, and give it a 10/10 rating! Die wichtigste Botschaft wird im Film gar nicht erwähnt: Wenn du noch nicht weißt, wo es für dich hingeht, wenn du zweifelst, ob dein Ding das richtige ist - bleib AUF JEDEN FALL DRAN. Baue dein Momentum auf, verlier' es nicht! Dann kannst du steuern, dann hast du Optionen. Das ist wie beim Surfen. Und bleib unbedingt wachsam in deinem Tun. We say goodbye to Louis the harbour master in the bay of Samana, he fills us up with diesel in a rather unconventional way. We check out the beautiful Marina Puerto Bahia for a last day in Samana relaxing before our 3-4 day passage to the Bahamas. As soon as we leave the bay of Samana with the wind upon us, the main halyard breaks! We took out the cruising chute from the sail locker and prepared her incase the wind was good enough to use her. After we had enjoyed 4 or 5 hours with the cruising chute, the wind picked up unexpectedly and panic set in as the cruising chute started to be overpowered......we go to furl her in but nothing happens, she won't furl!!! As we are racing with the wind behind us and trying to control the boat, the wind is picking up to nearly 20 knots, then the AT rope snapped and there is no way to furl it, we then had to decide what to do to get the sail onto the boat without losing it completely. With the wind still pulling us along at full pelt, the sail ends up in the water and we pull the soaking wet, 210m squared sail manually back onto the boat. We sail into the sunset with a beer to calm our nerves from the dramas that had unfolded!! With a canal width of 60 feet and Delos being 56 feet including the solar arch and anchor it doesn't leave much room for a maneuver. We anchor in Lake Boca for the night, and after literally bumping into our friends on Calico Skies we decide to head south to HollyWood, FL to anchor right behind Papa SV Delos's condo. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. Autumn 2020 we sailed from Gotland to Dieppe and Spring 2021 we continue south towards the Mediterranean Sea.

This is an exsaiting moment for me and also for you, who are following me. The Snowbird officially is in the water and from there l have to take on and do all the necessary jobs to be able to test the boat and hopefully sail across the Baltic Sea. We are about to set sail on a 3000 mile offshore ocean passage. Just the two of us double handed, sailing our 37ft yacht Florence all alone on board, for up to a month at sea. In this video we share some of the preparations as we undertake a full mast tip to bilge check over of Florence. Preparing a yacht in this part of Indonesia with almost no marine yachting services requires us to undertake everything ourselves. It is not long now until we depart Indonesia to continue our world sailing circumnavigation which was put on pause when we were stuck here by the pandemic, we have 16,000 miles of ocean sailing left between us and home in England. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence.
