Immersing yourself in the wonders and beauty of the seas for weeks on end has never felt more comfortable than when you’re onboard the Grand Trawler 62. Designed exclusively to let you travel non-stop and uninterrupted for days on end in pure luxury, the Grand Trawler 62 is the latest evolution in yachts. A yacht that lets you voyage in style for long periods, enjoying the peace and tranquility that only ocean exploration can provide. The key to the success of this style of boat, indeed any type of long voyaging craft, is to combine autonomy with performance. And having built over 1300 Swift Trawlers, BENETEAU is firmly established at the top of the trawler market. Learn more: https://www.beneteau.com/us/grand-trawler/grand-trawler-62 -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. YES! Cruise ships are still doing game shows, but they are a bit different now. I was very excited to be the first picked for "Who Wants To Be a Royal Caribbean-aire" on Adventure of the Seas. They sanitized the microphone after each contestant and we sat 6 feet apart. Crew members all wore masks but the guests did not. The chairs in the room were spaced out in small groups 6 feet apart.
Taking the covid antigen test the day before then end of the cruise was a very streamlined and easy process. Cards were left in the rooms with the ways to sign up for a time slot for the test. The process was quick and easy. Royal Caribbean delivered printed results on the final day of the cruise that I needed to fly back to the USA. 0:00 Appointment for Test 1:00 Taking the Test 1:42 Tips for avoiding lines 2:03 Getting the results
We finally decided to unwrap our girl. The tarps have protected her running rigging, among other things, from the sun since we put her up on the hard. It is finally time to take off the covers and see what we got underneath. We chill out at Kata Beach in Phuket and get in some much needed chill time away from boat work. I have been working on my surfing since I got to Phuket. Until we arrived here I had only caught one wave on my own, ever. Now I am catching them regularly. Surfing with Captain King and picking up tips has been quite the experience. He has been surfing for over 40 years, most of which he did in Hawaii. This week his daughter hangs with us, and no surprise, she surfs also. Our time in Thailand is getting short and Matahom will be going in the water soon. We cannot wait! Thanks for watching as always, and we hope you enjoy the vid.

The 2021 Plymouth Fastnet 500 saw extreme forecast and most boats retiring. Dazcat 1195 Sueños, racing just two up with the oldest and the youngest of the Dazcat racers on board is currently one of only five boats still racing. Some footage from the start and a brief clip from on board as the round the rock. Also still racing is Ian from our Multimarine build team, on board monohull Orbit. Awesome racing from Sueños. Of all our Dazcat owners Rupert is the most experienced multihull racer. His preferred way to race has been often single handed or two up, as they are now. At 71 he has competed in more offshore races than many would have had day sails, including several transatlantic races and cruises. He and Elliott first teamed up to race Firebirds and soon progressed to the Sueños dream team, at just 22 Elliott and Rupert became the two-up oldest and youngest in the Dazcat fleet when they joined forces for the 2018 @Round Britain and Ireland Race race, in company with four other Dazcats (links to the race videos playlist below). They are currently on track, making 10.5 knots with 337.7 nm to go. The weather is still unpredictable but all the boats currently have shelter options if needed. Sueños also has a top of the range drogue ready to deploy, though when I asked him about it Rupert looked slightly astonished and said "I've never dragged anything, but it's there if we need it. It cost a lot and I don't think we'd be able to recover it so I don't really want to let it go but it's there and ready." Only a week ago, with Elliott as skipper, along with his younger sailing friends, took 3rd place on handicap, in a chartered monohull as quickest boat on the water and won the Tillman Trophy for quickest team with 4/5 of the team to climb a mountain on the Barmouth to Fort William Three Peaks Yacht Race through some fairly harsh conditions... We're thinking about all the fleet as they fly towards home and wishing them good and safe sailing. You can follow the race live here: https://yb.tl/plymouthfastnet2021#performancesailing If you are using a mobile phone you can download the 'YB Races' App for free and then enter the Plymouth Fastnet 500 race to follow. We have Tropical Storm Elsa heading to the west coast of Florida and as of this writing it should make landfall somewhere north of the Tampa Bay Area. That said, we have to make storm preparations because we can never tell where a storm would ultimately land. So I explain the things I do to prepare Reverie and my home for a storm whether Tropical Storms Elsa, or any other Tropical Storm or Hurricane for that matter. Some key things to keep in mind: - Understand the weather event ahead of you - Consider your location and the impact of the wind and storm surge. - Plan your strategy - Secure your vessel accordingly. Hope this helps you prepare for future weather events.

In this episode, we head to Catalina Island and make a last minute decision to anchor at White Cove. We have 18 kts of wind with 7-8+ kts of boat speed for a lively sail to the island. The anchorage is a bit crowded due to the 4th of July Holiday weekend. We opt to anchor on the outside in about 80 feet of depth. Follow the Keeldragger Sailing Blog and Tracker: https://bit.ly/3CxpYlk
In this episode, we haul up at White Cove and spend the better part of a half hour removing kelp from the anchor. While motoring back, we encounter an adrift dinghy. I spot a blue ketch, also adrift, approximately 1 nm away. I suspect this might be the owner of the dinghy, so I swing by to investigate. Ghost ship???? After several minutes of yelling and getting no response onboard from the blue ketch I proceed to hail the Coast Guard..... Follow the Keeldragger Sailing Blog and Tracker: https://bit.ly/3CxpYlk
Boatlife, fixing things in paradise! Whatever can break, will break! After we hiked up last episode the spectacular Mount Pahia, it's time to leave Bora Bora and sail back to Tahaa, where we will meet again with our friends of SY Yumyum. They promised us to make a special dinner for hiking up and we hope to get our well deserved dinner! Next morning we want to fix a small rip in our Genoa and while dropping the sail, somethings breaks. Of course, we have no spare part and we can't get the sail up again. I put my outboard motor arrangement to the test with getting me out of the narrow, winding channel to Jackson Creek. Then comes the next test, which is removing both the outboard motor and bracket in preparation for heading offshore. Fair southwesterly winds are forecast, so I push off for Maine on June 27. Those winds are not fair, however, until I complete a 40-mile beat down the Chesapeake Bay first ... Welcome to this BONUS Episode of Sailing Melody In this special feature Andy takes part in the historic and famous ROUND THE ISLAND RACE, around the Isle of Whight in the Solent, probably the most famous sailing ground in the world. As part of the crew of Lady Hope, a Beneteau 27.7, Andy joins Alan Robbinson from Performance Sails Ltd in Evesham, Richard, Adam and Andy (a different Andy) to complete the circuit in 4h 47m and finish in 12th place in class. The Island Sailing Club put on a spectacular 90th anniversary party for the 2021 Round the Island Race. The huge fleet of over 1200 boats showed how much people love taking part in this event. On the water there was everything from flat calm to 25 knot gusts, fog and sun, and as with every Round the Island Race, nothing compares to the sight of the fleet stretched out around the stunning Isle of Wight coast. Local Cowes boat Eeyore, an Alacrity 18 Bilge Keel, secured back-to-back overall victories and retained the prestigious Gold Roman Bowl which she has held since the 2019 race. Owner and skipper of Eeyore, Jo Richards said: “The thing with Round the Island Race is that it’s like buses; you wait years and years and then two come along consecutively. Interesting race yesterday; we had a shocking first leg down to the Needles and luckily there was a little bit of a lull under the cliffs and we got back into our class, and from then on it was really tight. When we got to Bembridge Ledge, having got the rating list out we knew we had to finish a minute and a half ahead of one boat and three minutes ahead of another boat. It was pretty tense the whole way back, and being the smallest boat in the fleet, you’ve got no control if a 55ft boat sits on top of you. It was only when we got back to shore and people starting texting that we thought we might have won. A great day out.” Meanwhile, the Alan Buchanan designed Cherete won the Silver Gilt Roman Bowl, awarded to the first boat overall in the ISCRS divisions. Owner and skipper of Cherete, Brian Haugh said: “We had a totally unexpected result and we were late getting to the start line. This was our tenth Round the Island Race, we had a great day and it felt like normality had resumed.” Peter Cunningham’s multihull MOD70 PowerPlay was the first to finish the race with a time of 4hrs 11mins 01secs. A light start to the race prevented any chance of beating the race record, which was set by PowerPlay, as Concise 10, in 2017 (2hrs 22mins and 23 secs). PowerPlay finished this year's race ahead of the ULTIM Actual and the 32m trimaran IDEC. Tala, owned by David Collins, was the first monohull to finish the race, with a time of 6hrs 11mins 36secs. The Island Sailing Club would like to thank their race partners for their support: Haven Knox-Johnston, Helly Hansen, Marlin Leisure Marine, Raymarine, Chelsea Magazines and Cowes Harbour Commission. There are openings for new partners in 2022 and beyond; email sponsorship@islandsc.org.uk to start the conversation. The race in 2022 will be on Saturday 25 June. Remember we're doing all of this so we can go full time cruising as a sailing family in a few years time. We're hoping eventually to get the boat set up for single handed sailing so we can relax knowing she is an easy boat to sail in any conditions from light winds to rough seas. Making sure our mast is in perfect condition along with our rigging is super important and we will be spending a lot of time getting it perfect! This is obviously a huge refit and refurbishment of this big, old, abandoned steel yacht and it's not only time consuming, it's complicated and quite expensive so we really do value any help we can get, whether it's helpful advice and comments on the video or gifts through our Amazon Wishlist or actual contributions through Patreon, Paypal and Ko-Fi. NEW Family Member on our Sailboat while we are SAILING Göcek & Fethiye. Join us in our newest sailing family vlog, a little different than our last sailing vlog. We put a couple of weeks into one. A nice combination of our final sailing in Turkey and a family living on a sailboat. Although Gocek & Fethiye are quite busy and not our preferred places to be, we did enjoy our time here very much. This is also part of living on the sea and we had to wait a couple of weeks on deliveries and we hoped Greece would open up for us. But no, so we got our new dinghy which is quite a necessary element in our family sailing around the world adventure. She is temporary but the size fits perfectly with our sailing yacht Beneteau 57, we sailed nicely through the bays and we did find some spots secluded and where we could be alone. In this episode I'm running from Hurricane ELSA sailing solo from Martinique. Planning for Bonaire but sailing south first to see how weather develops. Facing some minor challenges on my way south and decide to ride out ELSA in Bequia. Pretty close call with the center of Hurricane ELSA passing just a few mile north of me. Before I left Martinique Hanna invited her to see the expedition ship TARA You can read more about it here: https://oceans.taraexpeditions.org/en/m/about-tara/ Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy this video! You can also follow sailing with Thomas on other platforms for almost daily updated pics and videos: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingwiththomas Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailingwiththomas ABOUT THIS CHANNEL: I'm trying to sail around the world in my Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever I have time for it. Most of the time I sail singlehanded but occasionally I do have sailing friends onboard. Still in the Caribbean due to Covid and was supposed to be in Asia by now. Even though this is season 3 on youtube I have already sailed 4 seasons full time but did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and been sailing ever since. PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS! I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.
Episode # 196 : A Change of Course Hello Friends, Here is the story of my ill fated attempt at solo sailing our 30ft sailboat Triteia to the Hawaiian Islands. We had pushed hard to finally live land life behind and were 2 months behind our planned departure date due to parts shortages and unexpected complications with getting our new mast installed. Our original cruising plans were for James to sail solo to Hawaii then continue on to Alaska where Camille and Mister Steady would come on board. All of the delays and the advancing summer season gave us a very tight time window on making this dream come true. This resulted in not enough time to throughly sea trail the windvane.... After days of beating into 20-30 knot winds, my self steering Windvane began to work its self loose from the boat. The threads in the housing of the windvane itself failed which presented the possibility of losing the vane into the sea or WORSE possibly damage the transom of the boat due to the massive loads placed on this gear at sea. Impossible to fix underway I made the hard call and came about and abandoned my attempt for Hawaii. Could I have lashed the windvane and continued on? Possibly yes but my concern was once I made it to Hawaii would I get stuck in Hawaii if the vane was not able to be repaired? I also had to consider there is no quick exit from Hawaii. It is 3 weeks or a month sail from Hawaii to anywhere on the West Coast of the North America. I had not 1 but 2 electronic "Tiller Pilots" as a back up and for coastal cruising in light winds but these units are, strangely enough, Not waterproof and tend to burn out very easily. So I wasn't without redundancies but anyone who goes ocean sailing knows that a windvane is the most critical gear on the boat especially so for a solo sailor. So as with all things sailing, one must be flexible and willing to change course when necessary. If you enjoy our channel please "Like" the videos and Subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes. #310 Keep up to date with our live streams every month......Check out our Patreon page here: http://bit.ly/SLVPatreon We successfully completed our two weeks quarantine!!! 🥳🥳 Having a child in doors for two weeks is challenging but Lenny was as good as we could have hoped for. Flying to Alice Springs to surprise the SLV famous Papa Whitelum was super satisfying. With so much uncertainty over the last 18 months, faced with lock downs, changes of plans on a regular basis, it was so comforting to be back in familiar places and seeing familiar faces. We couldn't be this close to Uluru and not show you one of the great wonders of the world. Papa Whitelum was up for the challenge to squeeze us into his car and head off on a road trip. Alice Springs to Adelaide via Uluru. More to come next week! Could you catch, cook, clean, and eat these little guys? It was a crazy adventure being on a boat that needs barely any water to keep moving! It was a completely different kind of night than what we are use to but we had a blast and in the words of Catherine they taste just like McDonald's ;) The next time you see Frogs on a restaurant menu give them a try! In this episode, we make our way from Honeymoon Harbor to Great Harbor Cay in the Berry Islands of the Bahamas on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. We claim our own private island (sort of), and we replace our lazy lazy jack lines. Then we have a boat visit from the island medical staff to fix Adrienne's wrenched back muscles. Jeff got to break in our new Zizzo folding bikes as he explored the island while Adrienne was flat on her back for a week. Also in this episode, we feature a great Albert Castiglia song called Masterpiece. And always, thank you to Damon Fowler for creating and performing our theme song.
