A organização da Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela, em parceria com a Prefeitura local, está alinhada com as autoridades de saúde para entregar um evento de alto nível de 24 a 31 de julho, no litoral norte paulista. As regatas devem reunir mais de 100 barcos de classes como ORC, RGS, Bico de Proa, Clássicos, C30 e HPE25. Para retomada das provas, os organizadores adotarão medidas restritivas e consultaram dirigentes de outras competições pelo mundo, não apenas de vela oceânica. Todas as atividades relacionadas à Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela atenderão aos protocolos de segurança oficiais relacionados à COVID-19. Uma das novidades para 2021 é a exigência de teste de PCR com 72 horas de antecedência para o credenciamento, que será feito nos dias 24 e 25 de julho. Além do mais, o Yacht Club de Ilhabela (YCI) não estará aberto a convidados. A Prefeitura de Ilhabela segue como parceira histórica do evento, que é apontado pela comunidade como o principal da vela oceânica da América do Sul. A abertura do evento será com a regata Alcatrazes - Marinha do Brasil, acompanhada pela Toque-Toque por boreste e Renato Frankenthal. As disputas na água prometem muita emoção. E isso já está acontecendo nos eventos realizados nos últimos meses em todo País, principalmente em Ilhabela (SP), onde recentemente ocorreu a 1ª fase da Copa Mitsubishi. Antes da 48ª SIVI será realizada de 16 a 18 a Semana de Monotipos, que conta com barcos de classes olímpicas, pan-americana e da vela jovem.

O evento também terá regatas virtuais como no ano passado e rígido protocolo de segurança em função da COVID-19. Em 2021, o primeiro a garantir presença foi a equipe do Silvertip, do comandante Walter Adoglio, que fica na Represa do Guarapiranga, em São Paulo (SP). O veleiro é um Skipper 21 e está inscrito na classe RGS. Nas anteriores, o velejador correu com o barcos Squalus. O segundo mais rápido no gatilho nas inscrições foi o Bravo, de Jorge Berdasco. O veleiro é um Skipper 30 (30 pés) e medirá na classe ORC. ''É o campeonato mais importante que participamos com o Bravo, seja pelo número de participantes, como também, pelo nível dos barcos e tripulações. O retorno às regatas é cercado de muita expectativa e de vontade por parte da nossa tripulação''. Nos anos anteriores, o Itajaí Sailing Team foi o mais rápido nas inscrições para a Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela. Apesar de perder 'no click' a hegemonia, os catarinenses garantiram presença nas regatas a bordo do atualizado S40. O barco de carbono está inscrito na classe ORC e chama atenção nas raias pelas cores laranja e azul. O barco de 44 pés é apontado por especialistas em vela oceânica como um dos melhores projetos feitos no País, misturando velocidade e tecnologia a bordo. O veleiro é um Botin 44 construído todo em carbono pelo estaleiro ML Boats, em Indaiatuba (SP) e que teve como projetista a Botin Partners Naval Architecture. A construção começou em 2019, pouco antes da pandemia de COVID-19, e agora está em processo final de ajustes no Iate Clube de Santos, no Guarujá (SP), sob o comando do atleta olímpico André Fonseca e de Sérgio Rocha. Apesar do tamanho, a embarcação deve pesar no máximo 5.300 quilos. O mastro instalado é de 21,75 metros. As duas rodas de leme e o grinder devem ajudar os tripulantes a fazer manobras mais rápidas. O tamanho da área vélica deve chamar a atenção em Ilhabela (SP), principalmente com a vela balão, àquela utilizada em ventos de popa. Na Semana de Vela de Ilhabela, o Phoenix vai medir na classe ORC e terá sob seu comando Eduardo Souza Ramos, o maior vencedor da competição em Ilhabela com 11 títulos divididos em barcos como Phoenix e Pajero.

Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas, administrada pela Vale do Rio Doce, mantém em operação esse ramal transportando passageiros. Da capital de Minas até Cariacica, na grande Vitória ES. Paguei R$35,00, passagem comprada antecipadamente pela net. O trem possui além da classe econômica a executiva. Muito mais confortável. Neste tempos de pandemia, o carro restaurante, não está funcionando. Lanches e almoço, (marmitex) são servidos nos próprios lugares, não sendo permitido a locomoção entre vagões. Tb estão disponibilizando só 50% dos lugares. Nada de cadeiras ocupadas ao seu lado. A viagem é tranquila, ar condicionado bem climatizado e vagões e banheiros limpíssimos. Não podia perder a oportunidade de reviver viagens neste trem, família toda, rumando para as praia do Espírito Santo. Vale conferir.

We go ashore in Tobermory to bag the island, sample the fantastic produce from the local area at the weekly marina market and visit some waterfalls. It is a sleepy town with small cafes, bars and friendly people. We attempt to leave our mooring buoy when we discover a broken control cable and manage to fix it whilst on a mooring. Interesting times but we are ready to sail again. Let the adventures continue. The Rainbow Reef is home to some of the best diving in the world. Bella gets her PADI dive license here (yes we know she should have had it already!) She passes in record time and is able to do "The great white wall" a very advanced dive (known as one of the most beautiful dives in the world) for her first licensed dive. We do some island hopping to the private island of Matagi that is in a book entitled "1000 places to see before you die" and of course the usual beach BBQ and fishing fun!

We set sail at night to round the infamous Portland Bill and cross Lyme Bay bound for Dartmouth to have a few weeks holiday after all the boat work and preparations to leave and adjust to our new life as full time cruisers. We waste no time exploring the stunning town and area and hike some beautiful routes. We go shopping using our new car aka our dinghy, gather wild garlic to make pesto, watch the unique ferries that cross the river whilst sampling local cider at a shoreside pub and continue the hunt for “the stone” and “the pasty”.
