We finally set off from Green Cove Springs Marina and anchor for the first time in front of Green Cove Springs Park! We first had to install our new wash down pump from Jabsco so we could clean our anchor chain more efficiently. We had a fresh water pump onboard already but didn’t like the idea of using it all the time to clean our anchor and chain. So we installed a high power raw water wash down instead. After install we said goodbye to our marina family to start off on the first part of our journey down the Intercostal Waterway in Florida. The fifth video in the 360 series places you in the cockpit of VRED5 Daniel ( Ricks ) Katzav during the python manoeuvre. In the video you will hear VRED1 easing the formation up and calling on the coloured smoke. The formation will then enter a barrel roll. After the first roll the smoke will change to white and the formation will then enter another roll which is over 360 degrees. Giving the appearance of a snake like shape in the sky.

The sixth video in the 360 series places you in the cockpit of VRED6 Daniel ( Slider ) Grove during the big battle to short diamond arrival. In the video, you will hear VRED1 call the formation up into a loop and then call the team into short diamond. After the call VRED 6 & 7 acknowledge it followed by VRED8 calling 'go' with VRED9 acknowledging. After the manoeuvre is complete VRED9 calls the smoke off.

The seventh video in the 360 series places you in the cockpit of VRED7 Brett ( Magpie ) Skerry during the heart manoeuvre. VRED6 calls 'and pulling up' then calls the split at 90 degrees vertical where VRED 6 & 7 then bank 90 degrees left and right with the smoke on forming a heart shape in the sky. While performing the manoeuvre VRED8 will spear the heart from the top left. VRED7 then calls 'clear' to signify the end of the manoeuvre.

The eighth video in the 360 series places you in the cockpit of VRED8 Steve ( Teabag ) Cousall during the tornado manoeuvre. VRED 8 & 9 are trailing behind the rest of the formation. VRED1 will then call '8 and 9 roll go'. They then start rolling around the rest of the formation with VRED 9 calling 'aboard'. They roll around the formation 6 times before VRED9 calls 'complete'.

The ninth video in the 360 series places you in the cockpit of VRED9 Dale ( Delta ) Brewis during the corkscrew manoeuvre. VRED6 will call '6 rolling in' and will proceed to roll inverted with VRED7. RED6 will then call '8 & 9 roll go' which will start the manoeuvre, VRED 8 & 9 then change to coloured smoke. 8 & 9 will roll around 6 & 7s smoke clockwise and anticlockwise crossing perfectly at the top and bottom 4 times. VRED9 will then call 'complete' after the end of the 4th roll.

While racing started on time for the second day of the GC32 Lagos Cup 2 on Portugal’s Algarve coast, sadly only one race could be held before the wind and sea state escalated to levels felt to be too dangerous to sail. Nonetheless, the one race sailed was a good one, with the wind in the high teens and gusting over 20 knots, and even though the breeze from the prevailing northwest was offshore, a short sharp chop had developed. The race also featured two lead changes.

It's 5:30AM and squalls are ripping through the anchorage. A sailboat drags past us and ends up hard aground on the beach. Now it's a race against time to get her off and afloat before the tide drops leaving them stranded in the Dry Tortugas Seaplane landing zone! The only problem is they have no windlass and their dinghy painter has jammed up the prop- leaving them without power and disabled. After an incredible downwind sail we find ourselves back in the Dry Tortugas, waiting for a weather window to make the 300 mile sail to Mexico. The weather is incredibly calm and we find ourselves taking advantage by paddle boarding and scuba diving our hearts out. All is well until a front moves through and puts the entire anchorage on a lee shore. A few boats drag right past us without event but then in the middle of the night one actually ends up on the beach. It's all hands on deck to get our gear and assist with our neighbors to literally winch them back into deeper water using our spare anchors and line. For more sailing around the World Action! We've arrived in Grenada where we will be spending most of hurricane season. We initiate the check in and quarantine process in Grenada They lost our PCR test samples so we're stuck on our boat for much longer than we're supposed to be! We should have only quarantined for 2 days, but it ended up a lot longer than that and we're running low on food! Once we're finally checked in, we explore Grenada, get a lay of the land and check out the Underwater Sculpture Park. We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
