The search for a new cruising sailboat has been much more difficult than we anticipated. We never would have anticipated that just as we became ready to buy our next boat that the used sailboat market would explode into the most aggressive seller's market in history. Last time we were boat shopping you could just about name your price and there was a decent chance that your offer would be accepted or at least strongly considered. Now, good cruising sailboats are selling in days instead of years and at prices that are sometimes 200-300% more than just a couple years ago. That's great news for today's sellers, but I think this will ultimately result in a glut of boats that thousands of buyers will eventually regret buying. Perhaps that eventual onset of widespread buyer's remorse will play a factor in finding our next boat. Time will tell. I can tell you one thing though. We're not getting caught up in the current market trend. We won't be paying too much for a boat. We'll continue to be patient and wait for the right boat and the right opportunity to come our way. Eventually this approach will pay off and result in us being able to buy a good cruising sailboat that will not only meet our needs, but be purchased at a reasonable price so that we can live comfortably aboard without the stress of knowing that we paid too much. The great news is that even though we have not yet found a boat, we have found a temporary solution... or, more accurately, the solution found us! This video is about that solution, our plans, our timeline, and how we intend to ultimately find and buy our next cruising sailboat. A new sailing adventure is right around the corner. We continue our trek out of the cold Northeast US with some Short Hop Passages. After our two first Overnight Sails we head in for an inside pass through North Carolina in order to avoid the turbulent nature of going outside around Cape Hattares, known as the GRAVEYARD OF THE ATLANTIC. We had a great stop at a little town called Vandamere, NC and this was a true highlight of our time during this section. We also saw some of the most beautiful BLUE water on our short outside hop from Morehead City, NC to Wrightsville Beach, NC. AND...we found Chris the perfect BIRTHDAY DINNER! Throughout our 130 years of operation as a Norwegian cruise line we have witnessed with our own eyes the impact of climate change on vulnerable polar areas. We want the Arctic, Antarctica, and everywhere in between to remain places of pristine nature, pure water and clean air. That's why we put sustainability at the heart of who we are and what we do. From the beautiful natural world to the remote communities who thrive within it, we want to ensure our expedition cruises protect them both. 🎉 Multi-Award Winning 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐝! - The 2nd Benetti over 63metres sold by RYI in the last 6 months 🎉 Royal Yacht International proves once again to be the most successful seller of European Builds thanks to the sale of yet another outstanding Benetti Yacht in an off-market deal closed by Tommaso Chiabra, CEO of Royal Yacht International. Tommaso says, “I am very humbled by this milestone sale of the stunning Benetti Yacht METIS and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate her new Owners on the purchase of this incredible vessel.” The multi-award winning METIS was built by Benetti Yachts in 2019 and is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 7 spacious suites comprising of 2 VIP cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 13 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. The flowing exterior lines are designed by Giorgio Cassetta and Benetti through a painstaking design, sought to maximise the dynamic proportions of a yacht that has an impressing long bow with vertical straight edge, creating clean, soft volumes and emphasising their three-dimensional nature. The interiors are designed by Bannenberg & Rowell, the London-based designer who worked in partnership with Birgit Otte Interior atelier, together they have introduced a new approach, heralding an original and highly distinguishable asymmetrical layout. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere. The beach club, the main saloon on the main deck and the lounge area on the upper deck are skewed 30 degrees with respect to “traditional” layouts, revealing a new vantage point from which to admire the surrounding sea views. On the main deck, in addition to the saloon containing relaxation and dining areas, there is a customised children’s playroom. The distinctive features are the custom gym on the fly deck, ”touch and go" helipad and the over 160 sq. m Owner's apartment with 2 double beds, a breathtaking 180-degree view thanks to the full-height glazed surfaces on the private bow and a 55 sq. m outdoor terrace all contribute to make “Metis" a unique Benetti model. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000 M53) 12-cylinder 1,851hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 15 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 115,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. The impressive leisure and entertainment facilities onboard make her a truly ideal yacht for socialising and entertaining with family and friends. Have you ever seen a ghost? Let alone ghost ships? Well after spending a little more than a week at anchor in A Coruña, it was time to move on. We decided to head to Ría de Camariñas further west and south along the Costa da Morta (the coast of death) of Galicia. We were not alone! With the forecast of reasonable winds from the correct direction, almost every other boat (mostly Dutch) in the anchorage decided to leave that same day. However the wind prediction was once again... wrong! There was little to no wind most of the day until we hit the sea fog near Corme. Then the wind picked up nicely but from the complete other direction. Luckily Make My Day sails good on the wind. It was in the fog that the ghosts appeared.😳 We arrived safely in Camariñas and settled in. Hiking the area with the crews of Senang and Alskling II. We also, together with these crews, organized a beach party using our potjie (the South Africans will know). Last but not least we were visited by renown dolphin whisperer, Romy from SY Kodiak when they stopped later in the ria. The results speak for themselves. Music by Troy and Paula Haag https://soundcloud.com/troyandpaulahaag Really cool new music by Volzigt. Who also happens to be Leontien's nephew. His music can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/volzigt Thanks to SV Tranquillity for the drone footage. https://youtu.be/5Pc9kVF8TBc Here is their impression of the same anchorage and beach party. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCavIQ0094X-VpdSzrwi73gA Hope that you enjoy it.

We finally make it to Cairns after days of sailing up the coast with no main engine power. It’s a relief to arrive safely. Magnus quickly gets on to the task of finding out what has caused the gearbox leak. We take the opportunity to provision Nutshell and do many boat jobs. We head to Bunnings and buy the piping for the new stack packs. Then, it’s time to say goodbye to Cairns and really head north where there are no large towns. The adventure now really begins. We anchor Maggie and swim ashore to explore this incredible island that reminds us of something out of Jurassic Park. On the way home we make a detour at the beach where we come across our first Sloth Sighting. After a nice time at the coast of Andalusia, I say "goodbye" to the Mediterranean. I set course to Gibraltar and dock in the marina La Linea near the famous rock of Gibraltar, which is a personal highlight for me. I take the cable car up to the top of the rock, where the monkeys are, and then I get around Gibraltar by bicycle and film the impressive scenery. I continue sailing towards the Rio Guadiana. I drive through the area, which the orcas are currently reported to be, but can avoid an encounter. After a rough crossing, I tie down my lines in Ayamonte at the Rio Guadiana. Very pleased to announce my latest book is now available for purchase. The Logs From The Good Ship Triteia; The Prose and Cons of a Sea Voyage. Author: James Frederick Publication Date: November 23rd, 2021 Pages: 258 Formats: Perfect Bound + Ebook Language: English ISBN: 9781088005392 ISBN-10: 108800539X You can buy the print copy here: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-logs-of-the-good-ship-triteia-james-frederick/1140537580 Or buy the eBook version here: https://books.apple.com/us/book/the-logs-of-the-good-ship-triteia/id1595514119 About the Book: This book is the complete collection of the logs that were written in real-time during a ill-fated 32 day passage on Los Angeles, California to Honolulu Hawaii on the 30 foot sloop, SV Triteia. These entries first appeared as blog posts on Triteia's satellite tracking page by the ships captain James Frederick. Friends of Triteia, family and loved ones tuned in daily to see the ships progress and read the logs to see how life on board was going. On day 14, August 26th, Triteia's rudder failed and the captain and his ship found themselves adrift in the middle of the biggest ocean on the planet. After the passage was complete and The Good Ship Triteia and her captain were safely tied up at Ala Wai Harbor. The messages started flooding in about how both friends and strangers alike had become transfixed with the tracker and the updates some described it like reading a pulp serial except that it was non-fiction and no one knew how the story would end,,,, not even the writer. For this 258 page, perfect bound 6"x 9" paper back edition we have included 121 full color photographs printed on premium paper. Printed on demand by Ingram Spark Printing House. This book is print on demand and the printer requires up to 13 business days to print so please understand if the book takes a few weeks to arrive to you.

Yankee doodle is a great beginners canyoneering trail. It took us about two hours in total, and was lots of fun. This is just north of St. George utah about 25 minutes. The wonderful thing about Southern Utah, is there are so many hidden gems just like this. If you have any other great recommendations of beginner canyoneering places, we’d greatly appreciate them!

We bet you’ll ask – Why do we see Umadum in Madagascar if they have been there in 2017? The answer is easy – we never had time to make a film about our beloved island Madagascar, which maybe is one of the best cruising grounds of the world. Let’s look back to the time of 2017. To our normal world with the lemurs, with the whales, with a classical concert on the top of the moutain, with local carnivals and fiestas. And to the question why you should take your time while you are cruising. We started the Indian ocean crossing in Malaysia, sailed to Sumatra and down till we found the wind and then the real ocean crossing started. After 4000 nautical miles at sea we arrived to the red island Madagascar. The northern tip of Madagascar, Cap d'Ambre, is well knowing for pretty high waves, because of two strong currents meeting there. In this film Guenther is sharing his tips and tricks how to round this cape easyly. After 3 days of rest at anchor in one of the northern bays we started sailing south – good wind, flat seas, what a fun to sail there. Sometimes we alternated our course to sail near to the reefs for very good and succeful fishing. Most of our time we spent around Nosy Be island, on the northwestern side of Madagascar. All transportation is done by traditional local sailing boats – there are no engines, only sails. And these people are very very good sailors. Everything was colorful there – markets, clothes, food, music, dances. And everything was full of contrasts – one day we went to the classical music concert on the top of the mountain and few days later we were guests at local fiesta in one of the small villages. So, take a deap breath and dive with us into this beautiful world of Madagascar. You will see – why it’s so important to sail fast, but to cruise slow – you will never get all this experience if you rush from one anchorage to another. Take you time. This episode we leave Freshwater Bay and sail around Hat Point in a fairly strong current where we see whirlpools going past No Regrets, before stopping at Borda Island where a very friendly crocodile swims out to welcome us. Heading further south we pass around part of the huge pearl farm and make our way to Crystal Beach (or also known as Careen Beach), and take the most difficult climbing route to see the crystals on the beach, before anchoring at South East Rocks. WHO ARE WE? We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussies couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. Gostou do vídeo? Subscribe, Like, Share etc. Support our Sailing Channel. This is the Sailing World on Water, December 10, 2021. These are highlights of the sport of Sailing, filmed in the last seven days. We started with Race 3 of the New South Wales 18 Footer Championships and the classes mentor and oldest skipper, John Winning, had a thrilling win in his new boat, YANDOO. Yandoo grabbed the lead early in the race to hold a 20 second advantage at the first windward mark in Rose Bay and steadily increased her lead throughout the South East course. The Yandoo team is John Winning, Mike Kennedy and Fang Warren. Elsewhere on the harbour was the inaugural Australian Maxi Championship. First off on Friday was the Cabbage Tree Race which sent the fleet north from Sydney to round the island, finishing back in the harbour. Monday saw a number of shorter, line races, and Tuesday was the annual Big Boat Challenge. Charlie Dalin and Paul Meilhat, in APIVIA, are the winners of the 2021 IMOCA Globe Series Championship. Congratulations, and well sailed. We have the "Wrap" video of the Oman Sailing, 2021, Ilca 6, World Championships. All the competitors enjoyed their time in the race village. Denmark’s Olympic gold medalist Anne-Marie Rindom slipped past into first overall, just one point ahead of Poland’s Agata Barwinska, and Greece’s Vasileia Karachaliou. The final race was won by Mara Stransky representing Australia. Tuesday on Sydney Harbour and the Maxis' lined up for their annual race around it. It was time for the Solas Big Boat Challenge, and the numbers were close. It was up to Law Connect to lose, and Scallywag to force a win. The racing was close, and thrilling. Sun Hung Kai Scallywag Skipper David Witt gives budding sailors some well deserved advice on how to join the ranks of the super sailors. Sailing Arabia, The Tour, Organised by Oman Sail, connects sailors with Oman’s long-standing nautical traditions as they explore dramatic coastlines in the Omani peninsular. Team France claimed the Sailing Arabia - The Tour 2021 trophy with another win in the final leg at Al Mouj Muscat. The debuting crew led from start to finish, winning seven of ten days. Axel Mazella and Poema Newland have become champions of Gran Canaria, the fifth and final event of the 2021 KiteFoil World Series. Both French riders have also been crowned champions of the 2021 season. For Mazella, this is his third World Series title to go with his victories in 2017, and 2019. For Newland, her maiden victory in the Series is the perfect conclusion to a dramatic year of improvement.
