We started with Race 3 of the New South Wales 18 Footer Championships and the classes mentor and oldest skipper, John Winning, had a thrilling win in his new boat, YANDOO. Yandoo grabbed the lead early in the race to hold a 20 second advantage at the first windward mark in Rose Bay and steadily increased her lead throughout the South East course. The Yandoo team is John Winning, Mike Kennedy and Fang Warren. Elsewhere on the harbour was the inaugural Australian Maxi Championship. First off on Friday was the Cabbage Tree Race which sent the fleet north from Sydney to round the island, finishing back in the harbour. Monday saw a number of shorter, line races, and Tuesday was the annual Big Boat Challenge. Charlie Dalin and Paul Meilhat, in APIVIA, are the winners of the 2021 IMOCA Globe Series Championship. Congratulations, and well sailed. We have the "Wrap" video of the Oman Sailing, 2021, Ilca 6, World Championships. All the competitors enjoyed their time in the race village. Denmark’s Olympic gold medalist Anne-Marie Rindom slipped past into first overall, just one point ahead of Poland’s Agata Barwinska, and Greece’s Vasileia Karachaliou. The final race was won by Mara Stransky representing Australia. Tuesday on Sydney Harbour and the Maxis' lined up for their annual race around it. It was time for the Solas Big Boat Challenge, and the numbers were close. It was up to Law Connect to lose, and Scallywag to force a win. The racing was close, and thrilling. Sun Hung Kai Scallywag Skipper David Witt gives budding sailors some well deserved advice on how to join the ranks of the super sailors. Sailing Arabia, The Tour, Organised by Oman Sail, connects sailors with Oman’s long-standing nautical traditions as they explore dramatic coastlines in the Omani peninsular. Team France claimed the Sailing Arabia - The Tour 2021 trophy with another win in the final leg at Al Mouj Muscat. The debuting crew led from start to finish, winning seven of ten days. Axel Mazella and Poema Newland have become champions of Gran Canaria, the fifth and final event of the 2021 KiteFoil World Series. Both French riders have also been crowned champions of the 2021 season. For Mazella, this is his third World Series title to go with his victories in 2017, and 2019. For Newland, her maiden victory in the Series is the perfect conclusion to a dramatic year of improvement.
