We arrive at the famous Cala Mitjana where we are surprised by its lonely landscape and Noemi on board her Paddle Surf board explores the turquoise waters of this beautiful cove. We make a short stop in Cala Galdana and continue our course towards Cala Macarella and Macarelleta. Surrounded by such spectacular landscape, we relax and share a delicious Paella that we prepared with the few ingredients we had on board. In this episode we tour the interior of the island, visiting the villages of Sant Lluís and Alaoir. We also visited the Far de Favàritx, one of the most visited lighthouses in Menorca located in the northwest of the island. this episode I head out to the reef after being in Hervey Bay (K'Gari) for over month. after a long anticipated weather window we set off into open ocean with a split in my mast and a newly installed anchor winch and drama that was about to unfold which I had no idea about! I had never been out onto the open ocean before with my dad so I was soo excited to share this experience with him as we sailed alongside each other. although some wild stuff went down I still felt filled with joy being at lady Musgrave and knowing that I made it there in one piece! Wendy Tuck and Campbell Geeves arrived in Hobart yesterday afternoon aboard Colin Geeves’ Beneteau 34.7 Speedwell. Given the the boat is not ideally set up for two-handed racing, their 3rd position overall in IRC for the Two Handed Division was all the more remarkable. Here Wendy and Campbell talk about the close-knit two handed community and the minor but important piece of damage to a family heirloom that Colin will have to report back to his mother and father!

With a large group of yachts finishing overnight, the bulk of the rather diminished fleet (32 boats retired) is now berthed in Hobart. Most notably today we saw the presentation of the Tattersalls Cup to Matt Allen and the team aboard Ichi Ban (their third such win since 2017) and the arrival of many of the Two Handers including Disko Trooper-Contender Sailcloth crewed by Jules Hall and Jan Scholten, winning the Two Handed divisions on IRC, ORCi and PHS.

The protest lodged by the Race Committee and Ichi Ban against Celestial (which resulted in a time penalty for Celestial and a time redress for Ichi Ban) involved a number of factors that warrant broader discussion. So to get some clarifications on protest and jury processes for ocean races and to discuss the general role of VHF, Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) and flares, we asked Michael Spies to give us some insights and offer his thoughts on some wider learnings from this particular event. This is a 12 minute interview but well worth hearing it in full. It was an impressive win on IRC, ORCi and PHS in the inaugural two-handed division for the RSHYR in 2021 for Jules Hall and Jan Scholten who related some of the challenges and rewards of their race, including their approach to managing the tough conditions of the first night at sea and how they went about picking their way through the numerous light air transitions in Bass Strait and down the Tasmanian coast.

Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. Bereits 2018 starteten wir Richtung Wien, doch ein Motorschaden in der Straße von Messina zwang uns, den Überstellungstörn abzubrechen.
