We are Patricia and Ed. We have been living on a 46 feet Catamaran and exploring the world on the water! We have always loved to travel and explore new places around the world. Our first extended trip was a road trip in the US were we got to see over 20 states and ride 30.000 kilometers on our ECO Friendly Van. It was simply awesome and raised our awereness to the fact that we did not have to be tight down to a fisical home to continue to work and travel. Now, we’re on a sailing exploration journey attempting to circumnavigate the world aboard JOY. Patricia did not have any previous sailing experience, but was willing to learn on the fly. Now neither of us are too trechnical and know how to fix things too much, super rich or retired, but we always had big dreams. What motivates us is the possibility to explore and learn along the way, share our experiences here on YouTube, be helped and help others along this Journey. We want to continue to uncover the meaning of Happiness, Joy and Kindness along the way and hopefully bring something to you that will also make you think of alternative possibilities in life. We are so excited to have family visiting again SO soon after Brown's daughter left us only a week ago. But, that means we are going to chill with them and will delay the next fuel video 2 weeks! Thanks for your patience. Enjoy the video on our departure from Beaufort. #sailing #sailboat #sailingprojects NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We had an indirect lightning strike that damaged our instruments and needed to be fixed before leaving Beaufort and heading for Cape Lookout. We were supposed to be North of the 36th parallel prior to 15 June, but we missed the deadline. We remained anchored in Taylor's Creek until Peter from Seacoast Marine Electronics was able to come and assess our damage. He was the ultimate in knowledge and expertise. After his assessment and the arrival of our new instruments, one of his staff members, Chris, came to complete the install. Once that was finished, on Wednesday afternoon, we gleefully moved the boat out to Cape Lookout to stage for our departure to Cape May on that Friday, 1.5 days later. We were ecstatic. The trip to Cape Lookout was uneventful though we did determine that the wind vane at the top of the mast was not functioning. We probably would need to replace the circuit board in the transducer. We had one with us, but that was too big a task to accomplish until we arrived in Cape May. We had other projects to complete like changing the oil and filters in the port side engine, installing our new hydrofoil on our outboard motor and preparing for our 2+ day passage north. What an amazing three weeks in Beaufort. The memories are everlasting, but we were ready to head North and discover new places. #sailing #sailboat #sailingprojects #beaufortnc #beaufort #capelookout #lightning #lightningstrike NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? This episode we leave the Mitchell River and head around Cape Voltaire and into Swift Bay to explore the ancient Aboriginal Art found in the rock caves and overhangs. Pete catches a few fish with his landing net at the back of Laylah when the fish are attracted to the light and splashing on the surface. We return to No Regrets to find a large Lemon Shark that enjoys coming to the rear transom steps to get a friendly pat. WHO ARE WE? We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussies couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. The modified Volvo 70 HYPR is the fifth Maxi to finish, completing the RORC Transatlantic Race in an elapsed time of 12 days 8 hrs 29 mins and 48 secs. The crew of 16 included the youngest competitor in the race, Filip Henriksson. The 18-year-old’s parents flew to Grenada to congratulate him. Filip’s mother was given the honour of calling the finish time by RORC Race Officer Steve Cole. HYPR’s Jens Lindner spoke dockside: “Our finish time is very disappointing for us because the first night we broke the tack line of our A3, so we could not use the sail anymore and this was to affect our whole race. Without the A3 we couldn’t really go up north, so we tried to wiggle through the high-pressure, but we didn’t manage to keep up the speed and we lost touch with our competition. With five professional and 11 Corinthian crew, the important goal was to get here safety, and we have done that. I think they have all had a great experience and that they will be back next year. For the RORC Caribbean 600 we will be stronger with a professional crew and we hope to be really competitive. We are very happy to be in Grenada and we have had a very nice welcome here.” #RORCTransatlanticRace #RORCracing © RORC/Louay Habib/Arthur Daniel/HYPR Ocean Racing
David Colins' Botin 52 Tala has won IRC Zero, completing the RORC Transatlantic Race in 11 days 10 hrs 13 mins 9 secs (elapsed).Team Tala: Brett Aarons GB, David Collins GB, Christopher Cowan GB, Campbell Field NZ, Andy Meiklejohn NZ, Peter Redmond GB, Jeremy Robinson GB, Robbie Southwell GB, David Swete NZ, Paul Willcox. On the thirteenth day of the RORC Transatlantic Race David Collins’ Botin 52 Tala (GBR) and Max Klink’s Botin 52 Caro (CH) crossed the finish line outside Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina to complete the RORC Transatlantic Race. The closest battle in the eight-year history of the race came to a dramatic conclusion. Billed as the closest battle within the record fleet for the 2022 RORC Transatlantic Race, IRC Zero did not disappoint. The dismasting of Botin 56 Black Pearl (GER), which has safely made landfall in the Canaries, resulted in two hi-tech 50-footers battling for class and the overall win. Tala has won IRC Zero, completing the course in an elapsed time of 11 days 10 hrs 13 mins 9 secs. Tala is also ranked second overall, just over an hour behind the mighty Comanche after IRC time correction. Caro was just an hour behind Tala on the water - a virtual photo-finish after over 3,000nm of racing. Caro is a new Botin design taking part in only its second race and the first transatlantic. Caro is second in IRC Zero and third overall. Despite being disappointed not to win, the Caro team raised a cheer having completed the race. Caro and Tala are relishing the next battle, which will be in February at the RORC Caribbean 600. Read more at https://bit.ly/3AfrR62 #RORCTransatlanticRace 📸 RORC / Arthur Daniel / Louay Habib

This week join Katy and I for some very special moments in our journey. We finish the last locks on the Erie Canal, begin our journey down the Hudson River, get passed by our first ever freighter, and complete Seawind's pilgrimage back to where she was built in 1978! Modernizing our 37 Year Old Sailboat's Electronics! / Installing Wind Instruments with the mast up 🤨
In this episode we are modernizing our nav station electronics as well as installing a new chart plotter/wind instruments while the mast is up. How many things do you think we dropped while working 55 feet up in the air 😂?! We shipped a new B&G Zeus 3 chart plotter down from the States. We are installing this chart plotter at the helm. Luckily we are replacing our old chart plotter which is the same brand and has the same connection already present at the helm. We are moving our old semi functional chart plotter down to the Nav Desk. In order for the chart plotter to be useful we make a number of connections; NMEA 2000, ethernet, as well power. We’ve also opted to replace our wind instrument. We purchased a new wireless wind sensor from B&G. Working 55ft up in the air makes this a tricky install. With a bunch of projects behind us it’s time to have some fun. An old friend, @UntideSailing has just pulled into the anchorage and we dinghy over for a fun burrito dinner. It’s a neat story as we last saw our friend Max in the Azores way back in 2018. Finally it is time to finish off our nav station upgrade. We install a Victron Cerbo Gx. This device connects and summarizes the data for all our solar controllers, battery monitor, as well as inverter/charger onto one color display. 0:00 Intro 1:00 New Toys! 1:45 Recap 2:22 Nav Desk Update 3:31 Installing new Chartplotter at helm 7:51 Making Network Connections for Chartplotter down below 13:23 Installing Wind Instruments with the mast up 😂 16:48 Meeting up with an old friend, Untide! 21:46 Installing a bad *ss battery monitor! -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Enjoying our channel? FAST Face Arms Speech Time to call 999 How to test for a Stroke. This great advert helps you detect if a person is suffering from a stroke. We use this video on our City Sailing Royal Yachting Association First Aid Courses. The FAST test takes less than a minute and could save a life. FAST is an acronym used to identify the most common signs of a stroke, and it stands for Face, Arms, Speech, and Time. This acronym can help you quickly identify the signs of a stroke and know when to call emergency services. Here's how to test for a stroke using the FAST acronym: Face: Ask the person to smile and check if one side of their face droops. If their smile is uneven or one side of their face is numb or droopy, it may be a sign of a stroke. Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms and check if one arm drifts downward or if they are unable to raise one arm. This could be a sign of weakness or numbness in one arm, which may be a symptom of a stroke. Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase and check if their speech is slurred or if they have trouble speaking. If they are unable to repeat the phrase or their speech is garbled, it could be a sign of a stroke. Time: If you notice any of these symptoms, call emergency services immediately. Time is of the essence when it comes to treating a stroke, and the sooner the person receives medical attention, the better their chances of a full recovery. It's important to remember that not all strokes present the same way, and some people may experience different symptoms. If you suspect someone may be having a stroke, it's always better to err on the side of caution and call for emergency services. Additionally, stroke prevention is key, so it's important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, control risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and seek medical attention for any concerning symptoms.
Large commercial ships entering the port of Southampton have to negotiate two very tight turns to stay in deep water and avoid the Bramble bank. Small boats and other leisure craft that use this area should know how to stay safe in this area, and in this video we explore the 'Precautionary Area' in the Central Solent, and talk about the risks when crossing the Solent from Cowes to Southampton water. 00:00 Introduction 01:07 The Bramble Bank 02:11 The Bramble turn 02:38 The Calshot turn 02:58 The precautionary area 03:14 Moving prohibited zone 03:57 Notices to mariners 04:48 VTS - Vessel traffic service Checkout our video on listening to VTS https://youtu.be/VmEWO--WyIc

My rudder has been niggly pretty much from the start, but now I know that it was all down to some hidden corrosion inside the tiller. Where you get 2 different metals touching you can get bad corrosion and the steel screws inside the tiller made the aluminium corrode and eventially span. So, I completely fix the rudder once and for all, making sure its ready for anything! 00:00 Looking at both rudders and their current issues 01:26 Fixing the aluminium tiller arm 02:47 Sorting out new up/haul line positions 04:38 Why the tiller corroded 05:41 Marking up and drilling the new screw positions 10:05 New 3D printed screw sleeves 10:47 Tiller fixed and done 11:58 Re-feeding the up/down haul lines

We head off down the river to grab mooring for New Years out on the water. This was the first time that we have stayed out over night on the boat and were a little apprehensive. Despite doing this on many occasions on someone else's boat it was a little nervy for the first time. We wake up at midnight to a thousand fireworks after going to bed at 10am... (sailors midnight) Finally we get up fresh as a daisy at 5:30am and then head back to collect some family from the marina to take them on a trip. Certainly a different way to spend #NYE
