It's time to say goodbye to Croatia which has been our home for the past 3 months. Unfortunately we leave on bad terms. It's like a bad breakup. You instantlly forget about all the good times and now when you think of them, it reminds you of that last moment. A very frustrating end to a great country. But anyway, we leave and head for Greece, our new home! On this passage, we motor for 20+ hours before really getting an opporutnity to sail! We also have a bit of a problem with our jib/genoa on the way. We also talk a lot about the dogs... so if you don't like dogs.. 🤷♂️ Anyway, enjoy the video, dont forget to leave us a comment, like and subscribe, and all those wonderful things! Part of the adventure of life on the sea is eating what Mother Ocean provides. in the rias in northern Spain, fish and seafood, especially mussels are in abundance. In this episode, we hook up again with our friends from SV Heron in the Ria de Pontevedra. Vin and Michael gather mussels for dinner. A lot of work for very little monetary savings. Is there a lesson to be learned ? Another beautiful ria with good friends. We hope you enjoy it. Music by Troy and Paula Haag.

Over the past 18 months we've sailed 7,000 NM and visited 7 different countries! Now the task at hand it to prepare Delos for long term storage in the Panamanian jungle before we fly to Sweden to visit family. There are many things to be done including folding sails, vacuum bagging clothes and food, and of course servicing the mechanical components and water maker to make sure everything functions when we return. In between preparations we take a few moments to enjoy our beautiful surroundings and reflect on the amazing, incredible time we've had onboard with The Little Nugget. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. The VIDA MIA is a legendary wooden motor yacht that has recently been restored and is taken guests out on the water to take in the views of the beautiful coast of Waikiki. Too find out about getting on one of the morning coffee cruising, Live Music at Sunset Cruises or a Private Snorkel Charter please visit: https://www.thevidamia.com You can also find and follow them on their social media accounts at: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vidamiahawaii Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevidamia Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYJjhwe1FQwjm1Dj71Jo3Uw From the website: Built-in 1929 and recently restored to her original elegance, Vida Mia has been host to intimate affairs, bustling parties, and unforgettable moments on the water for decades. The worldly 61-foot wooden yacht has traveled the California coastline and crossed the ocean to Hawai‘i, where she currently resides at the private Waikiki Yacht Club. If her teak could speak, it would tell stories of celebrities like Louis Vuitton, Elizabeth Taylor, and the Travoltas sipping champagne in the lee of Diamond Head. Built for luxury, the Vida Mia served her country during World War II, when she was commandeered by the Coast Guard to patrol the San Francisco Bay. She arrived in Hawai‘i after serving as an unofficial escort of the famed Transpac sailing race in 1963, although it’s said perhaps the Transpac racing fleet was really escorting her. “Vida Mia” translates to “my life,” a term of endearment in Spanish, and is the perfect venue for a romantic evening for two or an intimate wedding, or the private charter of your choice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you enjoy the channel please "Like" the videos and Subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes. Once we were cleared out of Curacao we made sure we were prepared to lift the anchor at the first signs of light because we wanted to arrive in Bonaire before sundown. Against all odds, it turned out to be a fast and comfortable trip and we were very happy to see how well Nohma performed upwind. We were determined to have a stand up paddle board for the boat and at this stage, our budget just doesn’t allow for a new one. Teagan and Colben came across a board that needed A LOT of TLC and we decided we could make it yet another project!! 🤦🏼♀️. After a lot of filling, fibre glassing, fairing and painting she didn’t turn out too badly. Teagan added some artwork and even used a yoga mat to make the grip areas. We also spent some time out in the bay to let Teagan practice maneuvering the yacht, pivoting and steering by using the two engines only.

This small inflatable sailboat is easily assembled in 20 minutes without any tools. Easy to handle, its sailing qualities will give you a thrilling experience. Very responsive, stable, and comfortable in light winds, the Tiwal 3 is dynamic in more challenging conditions. Whether you’re sailing solo or double-handed, it is perfect for your adventures at sea or on a lake! Boat of the Year Award | Best Innovation | by Sailing World U.S.A. "The thing was a blast. I couldn't believe how well it sailed. You could have some serious fun with this, especially in big breeze." -------------------------- ** The Tiwal story ** * The Birth of Tiwal * As a girl, the first time our founder Marion Excoffon was told, “No!” by her father when she asked to use the family boat, her life as an inventor began. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative high-speed vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2,500 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailing craft. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance. The Tiwal 3 received the Boat of the Year (Best innovation) Award 2014 from Sailing World in the USA and the Red Dot Award, with recognitions, accolades, and smiling faces continuing to join together on the waves worldwide. Join us! -------------------------- Don, from Cincinnati, Ohio, recently moved from Cleveland, where he was an avid sailor on Lake Erie. Now, he sails on Caesar’s Creek, a scenic and clean reservoir. He has owned a Tiwal 3 since August and values its ease of storage and transport. On his first outing, he encountered a large wake from a powerboat and capsized, but he was able to right the boat effortlessly. This reassured him of the boat’s stability and forgiving nature. As a former Hobie and Laser sailor, Don was impressed by the Tiwal 3’s similarity to the Laser in terms of rigging and maneuverability. However, he finds it far more comfortable. He enjoys its quick responsiveness, even in light winds, and looks forward to sailing in stronger conditions. One of the aspects he appreciates most is its portability. The boat fits easily in his car, allowing him to explore multiple lakes in the region. Don recalls a calm day on the water when he simply drifted, enjoying the peaceful surroundings. He values both the excitement of sailing and the moments of quiet relaxation. He hopes to take the boat back to Lake Erie for more adventurous sailing and dreams of exploring the waters of the Florida Gulf Coast and Chesapeake Bay.

Hands-only CPR It's not as hard as it looks, British Heart Foundation Vinnie Jones advert. This video has saved lives, would you know what to do if someone collapses and stops breathing. This is a great video which we show on Royal Yachting Association First Aid Coursers to spark conversation on CPR, when is hands-only appropriate and why was this video made. Hands-only CPR, also known as compression-only CPR, is a technique used to help save someone's life in the event of cardiac arrest. Unlike traditional CPR, which involves both chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing, hands-only CPR focuses solely on chest compressions. This method is easy to learn and can be performed by anyone, even those without formal CPR training. Here are the steps for performing hands-only CPR: Check for responsiveness: If you come across someone who appears to be unresponsive, call out to them and gently shake their shoulders to see if they respond. If they do not respond, call for emergency services immediately. Begin chest compressions: Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person's chest, between their nipples. Place your other hand on top of the first hand, and interlock your fingers. Position your shoulders over your hands and straighten your arms. Then, push down hard and fast, using your body weight to help you compress the chest. Compress the chest at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. Continue compressions: Continue performing chest compressions until emergency services arrive or until the person starts breathing on their own. It's important to note that hands-only CPR should only be performed on adults and teenagers who have collapsed due to cardiac arrest. For children and infants, or in cases where the person is unconscious due to a respiratory issue, traditional CPR with rescue breathing is recommended. Hands-only CPR can help improve the person's chances of survival by keeping oxygenated blood flowing to vital organs until emergency services arrive. However, if you are trained in traditional CPR, it's recommended that you perform both chest compressions and rescue breathing. We hope you enjoy this as part of your First Aid Course with City Sailing
