In the Sea of Marmara, close to Istanbul, you will find The Prince's Islands (Turkish: Prens Adaları, literally “Islands of the Princes”). They are named this way, because they once served as places of exile for princes, members of royal families and other high-ranking figures who had fallen out of favour. During the Byzantine era, unwanted heirs and deposed princes were sent here, far from Constantinople (now Istanbul). Later, under the Ottomans, disgraced relatives of the sultan or other notables were also exiled here — hence the name. Besides the busy islands, there are also small natural islands. We visited one, called Sivriada. We found a lovely small harbour here to stay in. And 4 other boats with Turkish locals arrived later that day, probably from Istanbul, for a day of fishing or barbecuing — the grills appeared in the late afternoon. Very cosy! Look at the amazing colors of the high mountain, which looks like a collapsed vulcano. We flew from the litte harbor with our drone to the mountain and took a look over the sea towards the other Prince's islands.

This passage tested us. We set sail from Mayaguana, Bahamas to West Caicos and quickly found ourselves in a rough, uncomfortable sail—things flying, gear tossed around, and water making its way inside the boat. Not exactly the dream crossing… but all part of life at sea. After finally arriving in West Caicos, we continued on to Sapodilla Bay, Providenciales, where calm waters and turquoise blues were a welcome change. Plus an easy, straightforward check-in to Turks & Caicos, anchoring off a busy but beautiful tourist beach with restaurants just steps from the water, and a scooter run to a well-stocked grocery store with surprisingly good prices. From rough seas to island comforts, this is cruising life—highs, lows, and everything in between. Filmed June 2025.

We fly to the French side of St. Martin and kick off a brand-new sailing adventure aboard a 50-foot Leopard catamaran with an all-new crew. After provisioning and getting settled, we set sail along the coast toward the iconic anchorage at Grand Case. Once the anchor’s down, things take a turn… we head ashore and stumble into one of the most fun, high-energy beach clubs we’ve found in the Caribbean. Cold drinks, great music, and an unforgettable atmosphere make for an epic night off the boat. We wrap it all up with an incredible dinner and one of those nights that reminds you why sailing the Caribbean never gets old. 👉 New crew 👉 New boat 👉 Great sailing 👉 And a night ashore we won’t forget If you enjoy sailing adventures, catamarans, and a little Caribbean chaos, you’re in the right place. Regatni brod zaslužio je da ga testiramo s regatnom posadom, svjetskim amaterskim prvacima u klasi Melges 24. Jedrilica je opravdala reputaciju Beneteauove linije First. Krstaš od 10 tona okretan je i poletan kao znatno lakši primjerci, a istodobno pogodan za krstarenje

The $100K Cruiser Showdown: How the Catalina 380 Stacks Up: https://www.practical-sailor.com/sailboat-reviews/catalina-380-comparison The new Beneteau Oceanis 52 is one of the most talked-about cruising sailboats in years. Bigger, brighter, more comfortable, and more modern than ever before—but has Beneteau gone too far? In this video, we take a full walk-through tour of the Beneteau Oceanis 52 filmed at the Annapolis Boat Show and dig into what this boat really represents. Not a brochure overview. Not a sales pitch. A real review for sailors who care about how boats actually sail, live, and age. We look closely at the Oceanis 52’s hull design, cockpit layout, sail handling, and interior, and talk honestly about what Beneteau got right—and where compromises were clearly made. We cover key specs, how this boat compares to other modern cruising sailboats buyers might be considering, and why comfort has become such a dominant theme in today’s production designs. This is a boat aimed squarely at modern cruisers sailing short-handed, anchoring often, and valuing ease of use—but that raises an important question: does prioritizing comfort come at the expense of sailing performance and offshore credibility? If you’re considering a Beneteau Oceanis 52, comparing it to other 50-plus-foot cruising sailboats, or just curious where modern sailboat design is headed, this video is for you. Let us know in the comments: Has Beneteau gone too far—or is this exactly what most sailors actually want? ► The 2020/2021 health crisis, environmental challenges, and the ever-increasing size of boats have caused - and continue to cause - many difficulties for indoor boat shows. Still, this type of format has one undeniable advantage: it often makes it possible to observe hulls and other appendages up close. ► For Aquila Catamarans’ very first appearance at boot Düsseldorf, we were able - together with Alain Raas, the brand’s director - to take a closer look at the two steps that promote lift, and above all at the impressive carbon foil that links the two hulls of the 42 Coupe. This model, which we discovered at the World Premiere in Miami almost a year ago, managed to reach 40 knots during our sea trials off Saint-Raphaël last September, thanks to lift from this foil amounting to 30% to 40% of the boat’s total displacement. ► A full test will be available very soon in Multihulls World! ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! This Monday, January 19th, at 4:20 AM (French time), Thomas Coville, Benjamin Schwartz, Frédéric Denis, Pierre Leboucher, Léonard Legrand, Guillaume Pirouelle, and Nicolas Troussel on Sodebo Ultim 3 crossed the equator and are back in the northern hemisphere. After 34 days, 7 hours, and 19 minutes at sea, they still maintain a lead of 20 hours and 49 minutes over the record held by IDEC Sport, who crossed it in 35 days, 4 hours, and 9 minutes in 2017. But the North Atlantic, the final leg, promises to be a new challenge with its share of difficulties, particularly rounding the Azores High to the east. Then, they will likely have to navigate rough seas off the coast of Spain and in the Bay of Biscay due to a powerful low-pressure system crossing the Atlantic. To break the record, the crew of Sodebo Ultim 3 must cross the line before 8:31 pm on Sunday, January 25th and cover the last 3,279 miles to the finish line between Ushant and Lizard Point! You can track their progress at https://sodebo-ultim3.sodebo.com/ #sailing #ultim #julesverne

Is the Coast Guard watching you right now? It doesn't take much to get pulled over on the water. One missing sticker, one burnt-out light, or one wrong turn near a restricted zone is all it takes to trigger a full boarding inspection. And if you aren't prepared, that "routine check" can turn into fines, citations, or a terminated voyage. In this video, we break down 10 Things That Will Get You Pulled Over by the Coast Guard in 2026. From the obvious safety violations to the sneaky environmental rules you might not know about, we cover everything you need to avoid. We discuss: Registration Red Flags: Why faded numbers are an instant target. The "Overloaded" Look: How weight distribution catches their eye. Erratic Maneuvers: Why weaving or drifting looks suspicious. Flag Etiquette: How flying the wrong flag can get you stopped. Restricted Zones: The invisible lines that trigger an armed response. 'Absolutely amazing!'.....'The best conditions!'.......'Phenomenal Racing'! It was clear what the sailors thought as they stepped ashore at the end of the opening event of the 2026 SailGP season. Expectations leading into the event had been high, thanks largely to the reputation of the notorious local sea breeze, The Freemantle Doctor. And from the moment teams went out to practice in the days before it was obvious that the chatter hadn't been hype. Injuries, breakages and high speed dramas had been delivered before the racing had event started, and when it did, the competition was explosive. Fleet racing at speeds of 30knots upwind and 45 downwind made for some hair raising mark roundings and plenty of stress. Here's the PlanetSail review of a spectacular opening weekend.

Day Two of the 2025-26 Australian 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour today was an historic day for the championship when the German team of Black Knight (Heinrich Von Bayern, Tom Martin and Andy Martin) became the first international team to win a heat of the title in its 114-year-old history. The German team was superb in the SE wind conditions which fluctuated in strength and direction, taking out both races in a style which marks it as a strong threat in JJ Giltinan Championship to be sailed on the same Sydney Harbour course in March. In the first of today’s two races Black Knight defeated a gallant Brisbane GC Sails team (Scott Cunningham, Joel Turner and David Cunningham) by just 2s in an incredible finish after the two teams had battled hard for the entire race. The third team to share the battle was another Brisbane team, Big Foot Bags and Covers (Dave Hayter, Trent Neighbour and Elliott Mahar), which finished in third place 36s behind GC Sails. Shaw and Partners Financial Services (Keagan York) finished fourth, followed by Sixt (Jacob Marks) and Vaikobi (Kirk Mitchell) In the later race, Black Knight again had a great battle with GC Sails for the first half of the race and it looked likely there may have been another close finish. Unfortunately, GC Sails had a gear problem and lost up to two minutes, leaving Black Knight to go on to a 48s victory over Yandoo (Micah Lane, Fang Warren and Lewis Brake). Shaw and Partners (Keagan York, Matt Stenta and Tom Anderson) finished a further 10s back, ahead of Sixt, the unfortunate GC Sails and Vaikobi. While it was a great day for the German team, it was a disappointing day for the Day One-winning team of Yandoo. A gear problem on the way to the start of today’s first race forced the team to miss the race entirely and was followed by a poor start in the later race which severely cost it any chance of victory. The racing conditions have been extraordinary over the two days as wind strength and direction, heavy rain and low visibility have played havoc with the fleet. Despite the conditions, racing on both days has been very close and the performances of both the German and Brisbane teams have been the greatest threats to the strong locals for many years. With the reduction of racing on Day One, when only one of the two scheduled races were sailed due to weather conditions, there is a potential that three races may be sailed tomorrow to make up the originally planned six-race regatta. As each team is allowed to discard its worst race result from the final total, current points could be very deceiving. If Black Knight discards her worst score she would lead with a net total of 2 points, ahead of Yandoo on 3, but each cannot afford another disappointing result in tomorrow’s races. On total points from all three races so far, Shaw and Partners Financial Services leads with a total of 9 points, which would be reduced to 5 points, after discard. GC Sails has a total of 11 points which would be reduced to 6 points after discard. Tomorrow will be critical, particularly if there are three races, to the outcome and finding the eventual winner may come down to the final spinnaker run in the last race.
