We leave Gove and sail our way north to Elizabeth Bay. The weather is pretty bad so we are stuck in the bay for quite a few days. Once the wind has died down a bit we are finally able to head in to shore for a leg stretch. Cabo Corrientes is much like any cape around the world; expected winds are often accelerated, seas are often rougher and currents often stronger. We have read that rounding the cape is often easiest in the morning and so to get our timing right we drag ourselves out of bed at 2:00 am with a planned stop just south of Corrientes for the evening in order to round the cape first thing the following morning. There was no dodging the thunderstorms and squalls this time around, which preceded the passage of a cold front. Behind the front was moderate northerlies and crisp, cool conditions. Raja Ampat, one of the worlds most beautiful places, for sure, but as its sits right on the Equator there's not a lot of wind. For those of us who loves to actually sail, not ideal. This time we get a few puffs and make the most of it. We've made a few videos showing the wonders of Wayag but this time, its a little different, we bring you, Wayag Wildlife! The sharks at the ranger station are a pretty scary and special experience. There are not many places where you can stand, surrounded by swarming blacktip sharks that are in a feeding frenzy! Scary! Also loads of Manta's to be spotting in the lagoon of Wayag, maybe the wolds most elegant swimmer. Finishing off the video with some nice fast sailing, just the way we like it. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. Then we sailed the Atlantic coast of Europe in 2021 and our next adventure is the North Atlantic islands Madeira and Azores.

We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

This Albin Ballad 30 sailboat came with a quarterberth that was open to the cockpit locker so it frequently got wet. The adjacent seat and nav table were awkward to access. We decided to rip it all out and converted to a sealed cockpit locker with nav table countertop, moved the electrics to a new locker and added a locker for a portable freezer. Velejadores itajaienses farão expedição inédita em comemoração aos 20 anos da Associação Náutica de Itajaí Projeto “ANI pelo Brasil” passará por 15 cidades e 10 estados da costa brasileira Faltam poucas semanas para mais uma aventura marítima partir de Itajaí. A Expedição ANI pelo Brasil partirá de Itajaí (SC) no dia 15 de abril e terá como destino final o arquipélago Fernando de Noronha (PE). O veleiro Gosto D’Água, embarcação utilizada no projeto, passará por 15 cidades e 10 estados da costa brasileira, e só pretende voltar às águas itajaienses após seis meses. A Expedição ANI pelo Brasil irá comemorar os 20 anos de trabalho da ONG itajaiense, que já ensinou mais de 16 mil alunos da rede pública a remar e velejar com o projeto “Navegando Pela Cidadania”. Em cada parada, os velejadores farão palestras abordando a história da ONG, a cultura náutica itajaiense, o desenvolvimento sustentável e a economia azul para o público local. “Queremos que esse projeto leve o nome da ANI e de Itajaí para outros municípios brasileiros que também desenvolvem o mundo náutico. A associação tem 20 anos de história e é um exemplo de práticas educativas e sustentáveis não só para a cidade, mas para o país inteiro.”, afirmou o ex-presidente da Associação Náutica e coordenador da Expedição ANI pelo Brasil, Claudio Copello. Durante as travessias, a equipe irá participar de duas competições importantes do calendário da vela oceânica brasileira. A primeira, Regata Aratu-Maragojipe, e a segunda, Regata Refeno (Recife-Fernando de Noronha). Além disso, o projeto prevê vagas para travessias divididas entre os 15 pontos de paradas. As pessoas interessadas poderão ter a experiência de navegação e imersão a bordo. Was ist auf Langfahrt wirklich an Ausstattung notwendig und was ist einfach nur Luxus? Wir haben in einigen Foren bereits ernsthafte Diskussionen darüber gelesen, ob eine Waschmaschine und Trockner an Bord notwendig sind oder nicht. Sowas kann Träumer stark verunsichern oder von dem Vorhaben, die Welt zu besegeln, abhalten. Deswegen möchten wir in diesem Video zeigen, was wir alles nicht haben und wie wir stattdessen Leben. Manchmal müssen wir da einige Wege mehr machen und auf Komfort verzichten..aber wisst ihr was? Wir liegen in denselben Buchten der größeren, großen und luxuriösen Yachten und es fehlt uns an nichts. Im Gegenteil: Wir sehen uns als sehr privilegiert uns diese Auszeit nehmen zu können und sind sehr dankbar.
