We originally had no plans and really no clue what we were going to be doing for the holiday season. All we thought was that we weren't going to be with our family and that a nice, cozy, quiet time, just the two of us and Seawind was sounding pretty nice. As time and miles passed by and we realized that there was a chance of making it to where some friends of ours live in Delray Beach, we decided to accept the challenge with hopes of a tropical holiday. BOY were we surprised at the warmth and kindness that awaited us. We had an absolute blast getting to know these friends who now are considered family as well as making many new friends in the area. We’re sailing to a new island here in San Blas, Panama to check out a new spot with our buddy boat s/v Delos - Our ‘routine’ while cruising here. We recently added friends Andy & Charli to the mix (friends since the TTYC days) and today we’re adding our friend Plucky on s/v Sailing into Freedom. And you know what they say when three boats are headed in the same direction . . . it’s a race! The breeze is up and in the teens and there’s a large swell - Big, rolling waves nicely spaced apart. Plucky’s boat is only a couple feet larger than ours so we have a good chance of beating him though Delos will be a challenge being such a larger boat. We set out on this beautiful day and all being YouTubers we capture some great footage of the sail - Our boats taking turns disappearing beneath giant waves only to rise back up again as we ride them up. Plucky chooses the outside route and looses ground and for awhile we keep Delos at bay. Once out of the big swell coming off the bank its a reach with winds on the beam and we howl along. Delos finally passes us but it feels so close! At least we got some great shots of us heeling in the stiff breeze - Thank’s Kazza!!! Once anchored we wait out a brief rainstorm and Bill sadly spills all the rainwater he collected. Generally it’s sunny here but occasional rainstorms do happen and today we spend the evening at anchor on Calico Skies. The next day the first thing we do is check out the beach which happens to be a gorgeous sandbar. We’ve got it all to ourselves - Turquoise water, white sand and plenty of large sand dollars. We swim and play with our friends Brian, Kazza & Nugget in the water and ponder the future. Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. Bereits 2018 starteten wir Richtung Wien, doch ein Motorschaden in der Straße von Messina zwang uns, den Überstellungstörn abzubrechen. Nach der Katamaranbesichtigung geht es weiter im ganz normalen Urlaubsmodus. Wir segeln von Großenbrode in meine Heimat, nach Rostock und erleben einen fantastischen Segeltag bei perfektem Wind und viel Sonnenschein. Ein Highlight des Törns wird die Fahrt die Warnow hinauf bis in den Rostocker Stadthafen. Aber seht selbst! Viel Spaß dabei! After the catamaran tour, we continue in normal holiday mode. This week, we finally complete a sailing trip we've been trying to finish for ages. Weather and tides kept holding us back, but this time everything came together perfectly. We were treated to stunning sunrises and sunsets, with calm seas and ideal conditions to enjoy the water — even if the wind didn’t quite show up! I also whipped up a serious cheeseburger with all the trimmings to keep us fueled for the adventure. Along the way, we unexpectedly found ourselves in the middle of an exciting sailing regatta. We wake up at famous Shipwreck Beach Zakynthos in this week’s episode of SV CUBA, but now we are no longer alone. So, we use the day to do some video editing, finally fix the fridge fan, and plan where to sail next. The wind is predicted to come from the west very soon and it will no longer be safe for us to anchor here at Smugglers Cove. We decide to sail to the historic natural harbour of Pylos about 80 nautical miles southeast. On our sail to Pylos, we are met with only very fair winds. But after a night sail, the arrival couldn’t be more spectacular. Once the anchor is set, we check out the town, grab some street food and make our way to the Neocastro. Pylos has been a site of many sea battles and has also been inhabited for thousands of years so we could not let the opportunity pass to learn a little more about this magnificent place. Just a few hundred meters from the town center there are 3 museums within a fortress, housing numerous precious artefacts, which have been unearthed in many different sites around the Peloponnese. We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany, a sailing couple. We are living on a boat, our tiny house, creating a travel vlog as we sail around the world. We have almost zero sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. We are by no means film makers or video editors so please let us know what you think about our videos, what you like to see more of - or less ;-) Sailing life can be a real challenge and a bit scary at times (especially when your home dangles from an iron thread just 10 mm thick). Sailing amongst the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, we’re always on the lookout for the perfect weather window to spend time amongst the coral lagoons of the outer reef. In this episode we scored perfect, glass out conditions for a three day stop on Our Dreamtime at Bait Reef surrounded by nothing but the Coral Sea. Here we were able to snorkel the world famous Stepping Stones coral formation and come face to face with some of the most inquisitive reef fish we’ve ever encountered including a giant Māori Wrasse. Well .... there are times when you have to go back to demolition mode. While removing the old icebox we noticed a lot of rotted wood. We also removed the old water heater which was not operational. So when we came to Reverie last night we decided to finish doing the demolition of the galley to see what we were dealing with. Boy I am glad I did. We decided to go electric in our galley so the propane is out. Stove/Tank/Hose/etc. We also removed the stove liner. Took the old shelves out and cleaned everything up so we could get a clean start. It’s finally time to leave Guruliya Bay in the Wessel Islands and head east to the ‘other’ half of the Wessels, or so some people say. We take refuge in Refuge Bay. It’s pretty ordinary and we only spend one night there. We make our way to Galiwinku. We are running very low on water and have just about run out of fresh food. We are turned away at Galiwinku and so continue our journey to Milingimbi. Unfortunately, we are unable to get water at Milingimbi either, so we have to make a decision on what to do next. With a broken water maker, do we make a bolt for Darwin, or try and find somewhere else to get water? Thanks for watching. Until next time.
