Is Every Sailing YT Channel in the San Blas? Racing Delos & Plucky! (Calico Skies Sailing, Ep. 133)

We’re sailing to a new island here in San Blas, Panama to check out a new spot with our buddy boat s/v Delos - Our ‘routine’ while cruising here. We recently added friends Andy & Charli to the mix (friends since the TTYC days) and today we’re adding our friend Plucky on s/v Sailing into Freedom. And you know what they say when three boats are headed in the same direction . . . it’s a race! The breeze is up and in the teens and there’s a large swell - Big, rolling waves nicely spaced apart. Plucky’s boat is only a couple feet larger than ours so we have a good chance of beating him though Delos will be a challenge being such a larger boat. We set out on this beautiful day and all being YouTubers we capture some great footage of the sail - Our boats taking turns disappearing beneath giant waves only to rise back up again as we ride them up. Plucky chooses the outside route and looses ground and for awhile we keep Delos at bay. Once out of the big swell coming off the bank its a reach with winds on the beam and we howl along. Delos finally passes us but it feels so close! At least we got some great shots of us heeling in the stiff breeze - Thank’s Kazza!!! Once anchored we wait out a brief rainstorm and Bill sadly spills all the rainwater he collected. Generally it’s sunny here but occasional rainstorms do happen and today we spend the evening at anchor on Calico Skies. The next day the first thing we do is check out the beach which happens to be a gorgeous sandbar. We’ve got it all to ourselves - Turquoise water, white sand and plenty of large sand dollars. We swim and play with our friends Brian, Kazza & Nugget in the water and ponder the future.
