In this video we come to the end of our sailing season. Join us as we fit in some snorkelling and explore some caves by dinghy before finally arriving at our winter berth in Portimao, Portugal. We explain how we check if our anchor is set on our sailboat using a transit and then go ashore and explore stunning Alvor in Portugal with it’s boardwalks and sand dunes. We then head out to anchor near the amazing rock formations of the Algarve and take the dinghy to explore some stunning caves and get in the water and go snorkelling! In this video, we start off in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and get on with some boat jobs - including rigging a kicking strap after our vang breaks again, running a third reef in the main sail and redoing our entire bed and mattress set up due to having found mold under our mattress. We then go on a hike around the Caldera de Bandama, outside Las Palmas - which is a volcano crater. Then we visit the old town of the city and have an overnight sail to Tenerife. We rent a car and go inland, wine tasting, and go all the way up to el Teide. It's a beautiful evening with the sun setting over la Gomera :D Thanks for watching! Sailing secluded anchorages, beach BBQ's, buddy boating, boat BBQ's and drinks with sailing friends and checking out of Turkey, FINALLY!! Will our visa overstay fine be what we thought? Sailing to some pretty nice anchorages away from the hustle and bustle of Marmaris in for our last few days in Turkey. We don't plan to come back to Turkey as we make our way west in the Mediterranean sea ticking off lots of new countries this year. So we make the most of it enjoying a beautiful quiet beach which we basically have all to ourselves so we set up for the day and have a BBQ Aussie style with our buddy boat. Sadly they cant join us on our venture back through Greece yet due to Schengen visa rules so we say goodbye to all of our new sailing friends in Turkey hoping we'll get to see them again one day After a few enjoyable days we head back into Marmaris to get some last minute supplies and now finally its check out day!! As we want to spend 99% of our nights on Teulu at anchor, it was pretty vital we upgraded our anchor set up. Heading to the shop and buying the biggest anchor in the shop did happen, and so did dropping it a few times and spinning in circles, questioning where the heck the chain was lying and if we were going to drift precariously close to other boats, and worse. Rocks. On this episode I untie from Ala Wai Harbor and make my way over to the Keehi Marine Center for my 8am haul out time. They workers were standing on the dock at 7:30 when I motored up and wasted no time getting. Triteia out and up on jack stands and ready for me to get to work. To say I was nervous would be a gross understatement. By the end of the day I had Triteia all prepared for welding and got her entire bottom sanded for a fresh coat of antifouling. After touring Valetta, the capital of Malta, and Victoria, at the island of Gozo, we do the crossing from Malta to Licata, Sicily. But first we had to shave the beard off Exodos!

After an amazing sail, with a few hiccups, we finally drop anchor in the beautiful Sardinia! I nurse my poor old bruises from having to go up the mast while sailing in rocky seas after Chris screws up with the light wind sail, and then we have a fantastic time exploring the underwater world around out wonderful anchorage! This has worked out to be the lowest point on this project. We had a big upset with the boatyard which we are choosing not to mention for now and at least have the job finished without a major complication. A lack of items to finish projects around the boat has been another big issue as the orders are taking longer to arrive and we can't finish things. So at the moment we have too many unfinished bits everywhere which makes us very unhappy. We feel like the time scales are slipping away from us and it will take forever to finish. Probably it isn't like that but it is the present feeling. Anyway will have to be done ant it will, hopefully we will have a much better week next week and we will feel much better. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

When we first set out on this journey, 2 years ago, we had always dreamed of sailing farther than we'd ever gone before. Well, today is the day we start pushing those boundaries. Leaving from Spanish Wells it's roughly 200nm to Thompson Bay in Long Island and we are determined to get there.
