Magnus begins the task of removing all of the old wiring and unnecessary stuff from the engine bay. We head to Noonamah to do work on Peanut’s captain collars. It’s also time to check if the old gearbox will fit the new Volvo engine. We have a leak in the boat which we can’t find so Magnus empties everything out and sets about finding the elusive leak! As temperatures inch toward triple digits, we put down our tools and head for the water. It's also a good thing we have a new set of paddle boards (thanks to our friends at Vetus!!) where we can ditch out on afternoon work and head to the Chesapeake Bay for a little fun on the water. In this week's episode of work though, I do get around to applying fairing compound to the bulkheads inside the forward berth, and finally squeeze myself back into the cabinet I've been dreading to take on its overhead. With bigger news, the daggerboard cases we worked so hard on are finally ready to go in!! After talking to the builder and designer while in Vietnam, we made slight changes from their layout, so we can push it further out on deck and give ourselves more walking space there. This means lots of extra measurements on our part though, and hoping we got it right! Stay tuned as Matt cuts a big hole in the top of our deck, and we see if we can get the case in its proper place. Join us as we fly our Parasailor on our Leopard 45 catamaran to Eleuthera in the Bahamas. We take a day relaxing at the French Leave Resort in Governors Harbor, and stumble upon a farmer's market that was playing our son's band's music. (Nevertel! Check it out.) Our friends join us for a few days of the trip where we explore the Glass Bridge and the Queens Baths before making our way to Spanish Wells. We even saved a baby goat Emilie and Sam were such great boat guests - cleaning the bottom of the boat, taking fast showers, cooking, etc. So, it was really hard to play a practical joke on Sam. This video has a whole heap of information on how we set up our sails for a downwind Atlantic Ocean crossing. You will notice that we DO NOT have our asymmetric spinnaker attached to the bow pole. Instead, we have it attached to the windward bow. Curious to know in which situation would you run the kite from the windward bow and not the actual bow pole in the centre of the boat? Well, there is a very good reason for this so make sure you check out this video to find out why. We also start getting a lot of weed causing problems on the rudders and sail drives. In today's video we set sail from Big Galliot through the cut to Rat Cay. It was rough! But, once in the ocean, we were good to go. We had no issue going through Rat Cay Cut, a favorite cut given its orientation. It's usually quite safe and easy. Rat Cay is one of our favorite anchorages. We love it because typically we are the only boat and there is a beautiful beach. This time, it was even more special. We came upon an octopus living under our boat in a glass jar. We had so much fun visiting with him a few times a day. Another positive about Rat Cay is that it's an easy pick up of friends and family from the Georgetown Airport. We prefer it to the 15NM one way sail to Georgetown. Our FIRST family member, Brown's daughter, Marston, came to visit us on the boat! It was so much fun having her and our first stop was Pipe Creek, one of the most beautiful places in the Exumas. Deja Vu Beach and Shark Feeding! We finally make it back to Black Point. I love this place. It feels like I've always known it. This time we visit a beach on the ocean side. It's not much for swimming, but the view is stunning. Stopping near Lorraine's to pick up a delicious loaf of fresh coconut bread leads to a surprise. We watch some local fishermen fillet some nice Mahi Mahi and feed the local nurse sharks, led by a very cool looking albino. She's most definitely the boss! Our first sail of 2022 in very light and fluky winds along the west shore of Door County, Wisconsin. We are still working out the systems and learning the boat and how it handles. Living in bliss with friends, swimming in warm, crystal clear water, discovering new places and learning to live off the land. Join us for 48 hours of adventure scored with tasteful and beautiful music selection. Low tides reveal a tidal pool that becomes our private swimming pool. We explore beaches with no-one but us in sight, and visit the famous "Pig Beach" where the large pig inhabitants greet us in our dinghy by swimming out to us in search of food. Our second day brings us another beach to ourselves. We find conch for the first time and harvest a few that are within the legal size limits. Enjoying dinner with Trio to end our weekend, with homemade pizza and ceviche. In this weeks episode we set off for our next stop in Costa Rica, the gorgeous Osa Peninsula. This region is known as one of the most bio diverse areas in the entire world. However our alternator has other ideas. We don't know for sure what the issue is but we open the engine compartment and see the alternator red hot and smoking. We shut down the motor and swap to our spare alternator. Once back underway we are able to get some sail up and race our friend Max on Elixir. Once we arrive to Bahia Drake we set off to explore a river. The guide book states that the entrance is known as one of the best surf breaks in the area and caution is advised. We watched how the local boats crossed the bar in order to figure out how to enter. It's always an adventure! The RS Games are officially open! The sailor's hub was a hive of activity first thing yesterday morning with the RS21 Class and RS Feva Class registering. RS21 racing started yesterday afternoon with some real light and tricky conditions to challenge the teams. The fleet enjoyed a BBQ and beers on shore, which quickly soothed any frustrations away from the day on the water.
