Somehow the list is only growing longer! But a rainy Saturday in March can only be the best time to crack on and get things done. We spray our new anchor chain, we service the engine (thanks again Stuart!), we clean the boat and then enjoy the evening with our good friends Sophie and Yaz. 〰️〰️〰️〰️ Episode 20 I Chapter 1: Beginning Boat Life [UK] 〰️〰️〰️〰️ 👪 Join the Tribe on our *Patreon* https://www.patreon.com/teulutribe 👕Pick up some *Merch* https://www.teulutribe.com/ 📷 Find us over on *Instagram* https://www.instagram.com/teulutribe/ 💬 Connect with us on *Facebook* https://www.facebook.com/teulutribe/ 🛠️ Teulu’s always trying to break herself, our *Amazon Wishlist* is here https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2045NNIGRTMQT?ref_=wl_share ☕ Treat us to a *Cup of Tea* https://www.buymeacoffee.com/teulutribe 📧 *Business Enquires* teulutribe@gmail.com ☑️ *Subscribe* for a new video every Monday *About Our Boat* - Name pronunciation (Tay-Lee), its Welsh, feel free to call her Too-Loo/Te-a-lu/Teaugukug/Tulu - 1987 Colvic Victor Ketch - 40ft/12m - Two Cabins - Encapsulated Keel and Skeg-Hung Rudder - 13 Tonnes *About Us* We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane. However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on. We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit #sailing #boatlife

After visiting Tangier Island, we were due for some much needed provisioning and laundry, so we headed into Crisfield, MD. There, we stayed at Somers Cove Marina for a couple nights and borrowed their bikes to ride to the grocery and liquor store. After Crisfield, we headed 82 nautical miles north on the bay to Oxford, MD where we found a great anchorage to spend a few days. As the cloud rolled in so the breeze increased and the tide started to build. From the outset Sunday was billed as being a bit on the punchy side, at least for some. Matt Sheahan and Steve Ancsell describe how Day 2 played out.
Sometimes it's not always about crash and burn and big bow waves. Today, for us at Cowes Week the images that we were talking about over dinner after a long day on the water were of the XOD class on their long run against the tide on Day 3 of Cowes Week. Here's a taste of what we saw on a glorious summer afternoon.
When life knocks you down. Go sailing. Still lots of boat repair, but I also sail Ensenada Mexico and up to San Diego and the channel Islands. It's fun to have a taste of cruising life. Also a surprise announcement. Thanks for joining my on my adventure as I restore a hurricane damaged PDQ Antares 44 Catamaran. Come along as I learn about fiberglass repairs, and everything else I need to know to live my dream and cruise the world. Special Thanks to: @FiberglassFlorida @TotalBoat Mark and Kathryn on Serenity

The jury’s still out after taking this catamaran for a sail with our friends, Jordan & Randi from @LearningtheLines. After Kirk gets a long-awaited kiteboarding lesson from Jordan, we all hop aboard a Nautitech 40 Open for a weekend cruise out of Key West. A boisterous sail from Stock Island to Boca Grande Key leaves most of the crew green-faced, but Jordan turns the day around by delivering fresh snapper for dinner. We talk about the pros & cons of this particular catamaran, and everyone aboard agrees on its best and worst features. Join us as we test out two hulls in the Florida Keys! Surfing with the G.O.A.T. Kelly Slater!! A childhood dream come true! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, we have been anchored up behind an island near Macaroni's resort in the Mentawai islands, enjoying our time in paradise as a monster swell hits the islands. Yosh was out for his morning surf and blabbering away to someone random, when he turned and right there in front of him was his childhood hero. Kelly Slater. Continuing our journey south through the archipelago, Kelly is not done yet and wants to see Nandji in all her glory so the captain of his vessel decides to try and run us down!!! We safely arrive into the last village and port of call before heading off to our atoll destination. Trying to find the last few supplies before the great adventure into the middle of no where! The town has limited food supplies, except Durian! The most disgusting and stinky fruit going around!!! #sailing #sailingaroundtheworld #boatlife #tinyhome #offgrid #Indonesia Grab some Sailing Nandji merch and help support our channel https://sailingnandji-shop.com I recommend the coffee mug 👌 If you are enjoying our videos, sign up to Patreon to help support us, our production and the adventures. I tried to talk my friend out of sailing the route he suggested towards San Andres. My take on this was it would not be safe, and he would not have the margins on his side. Do not take me wrong, a sailor can never be blamed for a pirate attack. But it is for a fact this was not the best decision made, sailing through well-known dangerous waters. This is a very sad story that needed to be told to shine some light on Andreas Sipsakas who vanished at sea en route to San Andres. I do not have the blueprint nor do I try to solve this mystery. But with the information I have tried to share what I believe and from my perspective what could be the reason. I spent quite a lot of time with Andreas in Jamaica, and his dream was to sail from Jamaica to San Andres. We said see you later when I sailed to Columbia and he sailed to the Columbian island San Andres outside of Nicaragua. In this episode, I'm also putting some focus on piracy in the Caribbean, but also trying to share some thoughts and takeaways for sailors hopefully contributing to increase awareness and safety. Sometimes it's necessary to also focus on difficult topics as this is part of the reality as well. Always make sure to have the margins on your side! PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL IN YOUR COMMENTS Andreas and I had a lot in common, even trying to share our adventures on YouTube. Andreas was a very experienced sailor, and to my surprise, he had traveled a lot! I don't think there are many corners left on this planet he had not visited and he had even been in Nicaragua and Honduras before. Lots of piracy is never reported due to the stupid fact insurance rarely covers this. Therefore lots of reports are just theft. Episode #250 : Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures Hello Friends, On this weeks episode @kimberlywood-saltybutterfl262 and myself continue our exploration of Maui's anchorages and find ourselves in a dangerous situation at Molokini Crater with wind and seas pinning us into the small lee shore crescent shaped crater. Once out of this clutches we sailed hard on the wind back towards Maui and didn't like the look of "Big Beach" Anchorage so we continued on to the amazing La Perouse Bay. Some problems come up and we are out of the water again we have loads of jobs to do to get our boat running again. We fit new seacocks as the water line is a bit lower than we have expected. Better be safe than sorry! We refit the prop shaft and discover the Cutlass baring is loose. After three intense days of working in the yard again we are expecting to be in the water again by Thursday. And then off on our first voyage to Maidenhead. It was the right thing to do, just a few fixes after the sea trial and we will be much more confident. Another bill from the Boatyard that we were not expecting. Lifting the boat and splashing it again wasn't on the plans and it was very expensive. We then go in the water and on our first trip to Maidenhead problems free. A beautiful cruise first thing in the morning without stresses or problems! Follow our blog with our daily adventures on Facebook . We are really enjoying this life and sharing everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.
