Woo hoo! Finally! Enough boat jobs are done and our new sail has been returned to us (hopefully for the last time). George is tying up a few boat jobs, then we're off for our first sail. Additionally George is going to share some of the interesting bits about the new electronics package (radar, gps, AIS, charts, etc...) he installed this summer. Things are a lot more sophisticated onboard for this sail compared to our previous years on the Chesapeake Bay. ✅GET WEEKLY VIDEOS AND FUN IDEAS DELIVERED// JOIN THE NEWSLETTER HERE: pages.curiouscurries.com ✅ FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Instagram.com/kellykolson Instagram.com/mrgeorgecurrie #boatlife #onboardlifestyle #nomadiclife
The Lagoon Escapade Whitsundays 2022 is a wrap and what an event it was! Day 1: We watched as the last of the Lagoon Catamarans sailed into Cape Gloucester, when the last arrived the TMG Yachts team borrowed Bonnie G's tender to hand out the goodie bags before the cocktail party that evening. In hindsight maybe black tie wasn't the right move for boaties, RIP to the long dresses that got a bit salty arriving onshore. Nevertheless, everyone looked FABULOUS! After dinner, Gill hosted arguably the most difficult trivia quiz of the marine world, I think everyone in attendance well exceeded their average 13 laughs per day trying to solve some of these tricky questions. By the end of the night, it is safe to say both first-timers and veterans of the event had newfound besties. Day 2: Sustenance was a necessity for the cruise the Lagoons were about to endeavour upon, this called for muffins delivered by the TMG Yachts team. A series of lee ho's and gybe ho's around Middle Island and then back to Cape Gloucester Resort. The Lagoon gods knew that the Escapadees could take a bit of a sprinkling and as the afternoon came around we so did the clouds. Luckily the team were prepared with some inside games and you know what, we think they were even better than the outdoor games we have done in the past, here's to keeping things fresh and fun right? Full blog COMING SOON

We made it back to our boat! After visiting England, Ireland, Scotland and Turkey, we came back to Montenegro to meet up with Marco who'd been overseeing much needed boat repairs and upgrades. We're excited to have a back-up generator and our new underwater LED lights make for some beautiful moments at night on the water - you've got to see it! Kotor, Montenegro has become a must-visit place for us. The culture and beauty are unmatched and it's always hard saying goodbye when leaving a place you've fallen in love with. Make sure you stop in Kotor if you're in the area! We celebrated Owen's birthday this week as well. One of the greatest privileges of being a father is watching your child grow into their own person. Owen is learning so much and becoming quite the sailor. He's such a joy in the lives of our family! Onto Croatia next week! Stay tuned!
We sail from Tahiti to Moorea and come into a crowded anchorage. We explore the bay and dive with turtles. At night we see masses of a sticky yellow substance floating by the boat. Is this pollution? We sort the entire boat and our storage locker, we create more storage with a few last minute builds, we even sort out our AIS. We sail to Poole, remount the winches, rig the foresail, and then finally leave for France at 530am. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Follow our adventures. Instead of sailing across Biscay, we must go to France I was afraid of open water and we didn't want to end up in the raging storm. but it went well and it turned out that the weather forecast was correct.
On a solo sail from South Carolina to Maine I was overtaken by a massive squall system. The winds were in the 30's and waves were thankfully going with the Gulfstream current, so never got too big. It was an exciting ride and I hope you enjoy the video clip.

It's moments like these that make all the swearing, boat jobs, and stressful sails worth it. Enjoying the episodes? Becoming a Patron enables us to ensure the continuity of Slim & Soph - Sailing Nakama. A little goes a long way to keep this production alive. With very little free time between uni and the boat, Patreon enables us to focus on creating and posting videos rather than pouring beers at our local. Let's keep ticking nautical miles and boat jobs off! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=C6M8FAYZ5K2ZS All the mayhem of last week's wild sail was worth it to arrive at this uninhabited coral-fringed island in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. Yes, it is still pouring with rain, cloudy and very windy, but we must embrace it, so we've put on our multipurpose snorkels and goggles, and we battle the elements to explore this island we have to ourselves. We are surprised to wake to light winds and there is no time to waste. We jump straight into action and go for that longed-for spearfish. The boys collect themselves three coral trout, and it would be rude not to have a fire on the beach in between rain squalls to cook them up for dinner. There are still no signs of the weather easing, so we must press on further up the cape in the wet and wind. We are in for another quick sail. #vancofamily #voilierenfamille #vacancesenbateau
