You may have noticed that the last few videos we've published have been of fairly low quality, but they have been published steadily at one per week. You may be wondering what we are doing, and why. Well, we have a mountain of content awaiting attention, and we haven't been able to spend any time lately editing that content into videos. During the very trip we are currently publishing, Virginia managed to get pregnant again, and we eventually introduced yet another "Sailing Channel Baby", a.k.a. "Viewer Repellant" into the world. We've been chasing two of them around since, and that just takes up TOO MUCH TIME. In the meantime, while taking a break from editing and publishing (and sailing, to some extent), we have watched our views slow down and our subscribers disappear. That sucks. I mean, it is not the end of the world, it is not IMPORTANT. It just kinda' sucks. We'd like to share this part of our lives, and so we'd like to grow our audience (or at least get some of them back). So, we are attempting ONE little tweak to try to game the YouTube algorithm just a tiny little bit. Since we know that publishing consistency is reasonably important, we have taken a reasonable pile of our content backlog and we are now publishing it with the most minimal of edits just to get it in a state where we can publish it... and we are rolling them out weekly. This is an experiment in toying with the algorithm, but also a means of just getting more caught up with present day. The low-effort videos will be revisited, and Duke will eventually take whatever steps he usually does to clean things up and make them at least 2% interesting... this stuff all takes time, but I know Duke can't live with these videos being "out there" unfinished for too long. So, enjoy our little experiment and look out for additional content to follow (lots of it), as well as better versions of these episodes (the publishing of which will likely upset some viewers, just as the low quality of the experimental ones will upset others... isn't being a content provider fun?)... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We can't produce quality inspirational content indefinitely without the support of our fans. We are faced with an open fire on the transom of a motorboat just 20 metres upwind of us and an anchorage and have to struggle to ensure the safety of our boat. Embers were flying up into the air towards us and we could not believe that anyone would do this on a boat! Later that night we are also faced with large swell in the anchorage and multiple boats dragging anchor in this poor holding site. There's so much to see in Pipe Creek, near Compass Cay, the Bahamas, that we spent day after day walking the sandbars and exploring the coral gardens. Je règle mon souci de VHF qui m'informe (bip) toutes les 10min "No signal perte GPS". En effet, lorsque la VHF à la fonction ASN, elle a besoin d'une localisation pour pouvoir envoyer notre position lors du déclanchement du bouton rouge Distress. Mon bateau est une coque polyester et je voulais une vhf autonome qui n'attendait pas le signal externe d'un traceur GPS. From the Lipari Islands we sailed to the north coast of Sicily. Now we are heading from Cefalu first to Palermo. The coast is breathtakingly beautiful, but our attention is mostly focused on the clouds in the mountains. The weather is still tense, thunderstorms are moving across the sea or rain is falling over the island. We spend three days in a small marina just outside the old town of Palermo. The city with its morbid charm casts a spell over us. Street art meets street food. We enjoy every minute in Palermo. But then we have to move on. In San Vito on the northwest coast of the island we spend three days instead of one. Not because the place has so much to offer, but the anchorage in front of the marina is safe. Thunderstorms keep coming up, which we definitely don't want on our crossing to Sardinia.

Von den Liparischen Inseln sind wir an die Nordküste Siziliens gesegelt. Jetzt geht es von Cefalu zunächst nach Palermo. Die Küste ist atemberaubend schön, und doch gilt unser Augenmerk meist den Wolken in den Bergen. Immer noch ist die Wetterlage angespannt, ziehen Gewitter über das Meer oder regnen sich über der Insel ab. Drei Tage verbringen wir in einer kleinen Marina direkt vor der Altstadt von Palermo. Die Stadt mit ihrem morbiden Charme zieht uns in ihren Bann. Streetart trifft auf Streetfood. Wir genießen jede Minute in Palermo. Aber dann müssen wir weiter. In San Vito an der Nordwestküste der Insel verbringen wir drei statt geplant einen Tag. Nicht weil der Ort so viel zu bieten hat, aber der Ankerplatz vor der Marina ist sicher. Denn es ziehen immer wieder Gewitter auf, die wir definitiv nicht auf unserer Überfahrt nach Sardinien haben wollen. Und so harren wir aus.
