** NOW SOLD ** Built in France in 2007 'Chat Eau Bleu' is an owners version Lagoon 420 in excellent condition. Incredibly well specified from the factory and currently berthed in Tasmania, this Lagoon 420 has only had two owners and has been beautifully kept and constantly upgraded. Powered twin Yanmar 39hp diesels with SD60 sail drives, an Onan 9kva genset she is fully airconditioned and has been fitted with a Marine Village water maker. With upgraded sailing instrumentation including AIS, and a very good and current cruising sail inventory including a furling CO, this Lagoon is an incredibly high volume and safe blue water cruising catamaran. Her volume is incredible and as the three cabin version, her entire port hull is dedicated to her owner. Her saloon is light filled and hosts a large L shaped galley and her starboard hull has two very good-sized cabins each with their ensuite. She is easily the highest volume 42' catamaran on the market.

What makes the 62m MONEIKOS special is that luxury notwithstanding she manages to emanate an intimate family atmosphere. Having only one owner and being always privately used since its delivery in 2006, MONEIKOS has been meticulously maintained throughout the years. The yacht is equipped with NAIAD DYNAMICS Zero Speed stabilisation system that reduces roll motion effect and results in a smoother and more enjoyable cruising experience.

While Ian may turn into a Hurricane soon, at this time it is a Tropic Storm. We live on the West Coast of Florida south of Tampa Bay, so we are starting to make our preparations for the storm. On this video, you will see some of what is going on in our area, some of our initial preparation for the storm and at the end some of the tools I monitor to help us prepare for the storm. After 30 years living in Florida and dealing with Hurricanes on both coasts of the state, I am very familiar with maintaining a fluid outlook. You prepare for what you know and adapt as the situation changes. That is our goal. Today we are doing some initial prep. Tomorrow we will make additional adjustments as required by the changing weather conditions.

Waking up at 4am because the keel is banging the ground is next to sinking a sailors worst nightmare. I woke up, hearing the wind roar, looked outside my hatch and had the mangrooves 20 meters to my right and trees from the beach hitting the back of the boat. I jumped out of bed screaming while running outside waking up the guys hoping we could save the boat from beaching completely. Despite several years of foiling behind us now, most of the world’s sailing records are still held by non-foiling boats. But if foiling boats are so much faster, how come they haven’t broken more records? In this video we are going to explore why. Foiling is when the hull of a boat is lifted out of the water by underwater wings called hydrofoils, like these International Moth dinghies which have been using full foiling since 2000. With the highest 10 second average for a Moth of 35.9 knots, it the fasted rated sailing dinghy in the world. The first larger boat to use full foiling was L’Hydroptere, a French Experimental trimaran. She broke the sailing speed record in 2009 with speeds of 52.86 KT over 500M, and 50.17 KT over a nautical mile. She did briefly reach 56.3 KT, but not for long enough to qualify as a record, and lost control and capsized shortly afterward. Since 2013 the America’s Cup and SailGP boats have also been full-foilers, but interestingly none of them have yet gone faster than L’Hydroptere. In 2017 Gitana 17 was launched. She is the first ocean-going maxi trimaran designed from the ground up for full foiling, but in the five years she’s been sailing, she still hasn’t broken IDEC Sport’s non-foiling around-the-world record. Some boats, like Alex Thomson’s 2016 Vendee Globe boat Hugo Boss are designed as partial-foilers, where the hull is still in the water much of the time, but the foils provide some lift and reduce pitching. In this footage Alex had broken his starboard foil off so his hull is fully in the water. But despite sailing 2/3 of the way around the world with a missing foil he still came in second, and ahead of foiling boats behind him. So what’s the deal with foiling boats. Why don’t foiling boats like Gitana 17 hold more World Records? It’s because there are lots of practical and physical limitations associated with foiling, which we will discuss in this video, not the least of which is cavitation at around 50 knots. We were on our way from Cape Canaveral to Beaufort, 470 miles further up the coast. We decided to sail directly there without stopping, which would take us 4 days. Beaufort is the last place to stop before cape Hateras, so we would wait there for a weather window to sail around the cape and straight to New York from there. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Mark Sinclair, the only Australian skipper in the 2022 Golden Globe Race, has decided to retire in Lanzarote. He was one of 16 sailors to cross the start line in Les Sables d’Olonne less than three weeks ago. Speaking from his Lello 34 masthead sloop, Coconut, he revealed he always planned to stop at the race’s second photo drop in Cape Town in order to attend his son’s wedding. This would have put him in the Chichester Class for entrants who make one stop. However, strong southwesterly headwinds in the Bay of Biscay meant his start was much slower than expected. When he returns to the boat he is planning to return to his home in South Australia via the Panama Canal and the South Pacific.

L’ACHM, L’association des Croiseurs Hauturiers de Mayotte organise sa traditionnelle régate amicale dans le magnifique lagon de Mayotte. Un vent idéal d’une dizaine de noeuds a permis a une quinzaine de bateaux de s’affronter sur un parcours quelque peu complexe pour les non initiés comme nous. Bref, que du bonheur et de l’amitié. Des apéros, un délicieux repas et une belle planche de prix ont terminé cette superbe journée. Et comme toujours dans la joie et la bonne humeur propre à Javerne.
