Annapolis Yacht Club, September 24th. Racing continues for the second day with much different conditions. 3 on 3 & 2 on 2 team racing in J22s and match racing in J105s is the order of the day.

Racing began out of the Lavallette Yacht Club on the Barnegat Bay. A place famous for their strong winds, plethora of yacht clubs stringing the coastline and boardwalks. Meet the class. Get a tour of a boat and watch the racing from three angles.

The final day of racing saw similar windy conditions with a lot more shifts, which over 83 boats on a mile+ racecourse with 5 legs meant big drama and a new leader board by the end of the day. Meet the top 3 overall and experience the best New Jersey and the Lavallette Yacht Club have to offer.

Throwback to our first ever experience as sailors. We had a great Captain showing us the ropes! Shout out to Victor and his fantastic sailboat, our experience learning on Lake Pleasant in Arizona was great. We spent many lake days on our Chrysler 22 before deciding to beat the heat and move across the country. We had no idea the future we had in sailing but we were excited for (whatever it was) to come.

With the approach of Typhoon 14, Wahine and I sought shelter in Onomichi, a famous cycling town where we hoped to find a micro-climate where we would be protected from the severity of the storm despite the eye wall passing near. It was remarkable what a difference a few meters can make in a storm. Also, I was reminded that Typhoons in the end are unpredictable. [SUBTITLES TO COME SOON] Qué sensación tan rara después de tres semanas con compañía a bordo, la de encontrarnos los dos solos en Wayra! A pesar de haber pasado más de dos meses trabajando en el barco en seco dia y noche, la sensación de estar los dos solos ya navegando fue muy especial. También el hecho de saber que dependíamos de solo nosotros dos para todo, teniendo en cuenta que Daniela no tiene apenas experiencia, fue todo un reto. Pero lo llevamos muy bien y desde luego que lo necesitábamos ya que el objetivo final es dar la vuelta al mundo, aunque obviamente compartiendo la experiencia con una futura tripulación esporádica o fija, quién sabe.
