Comme tous les ans, Largo 2 sort pour 1 mois afin de procéder à diverses vérifications et changement de certaines pièces. A cause du manque d'eau douce et la restriction toujours en cours, il est interdit d'utiliser le nettoyeur HP ou le jet d'eau (on voit tout de même certains qui se croient au dessus de tout qui le font !!!!! ). De ce fait, je ne vais pas faire un "gros" antifulling car de surcroît, il n'est pas vraiment sale. Par contre la carenne nécessite une attention particulière, dû à la Vilaine. Retour à l'eau, fin octobre.

We enjoyed Bluefield Lagoon and its friendly indigenous community so much that we winded up staying, even booking ourselves in for a guided tour of the local waterfall with one family, who volunteered their son, Fred to take us. We had fun exploring the jungle and swimming in the waterfall, narrowly escaping an onslaught from hundred of leaches!! Das Leben auf einem Boot besteht nicht nur aus Segeln, Sonne, Schwimmen und Cocktails. Nein, vielmehr geht es um Probleme, Probleme und Probleme. Da eine Schlechtwetterfront aufzieht und wir unseren Liegeplatz in Alghero auf Sardinien verlassen müssen, müssen wir einen neuen, bezahlbaren Hafen finden. Aber das ist noch unser kleinstes Problem. Kaum angekommen hört die Wasserpumpe nicht mehr auf zu rattern. Leck im System oder eine defekte Pumpe? Nach drei Stunden und Dutzenden Flüchen ist die neue Pumpe eingebaut, das Problem aber immer noch da. Zur Ablenkung beginnt es zu regnen. Nicht nur draußen, sondern auch unter Deck. Und dann haben wir auch noch Wasser im Motorraum. Das Rinnsal führt uns zum Wasserboiler, der anscheinend durchgerostet ist. Na prima. Als wäre das nicht genug Freizeitbeschäftigung, gibt es auch noch ein Problem mit der Bordelektrik. Die gute Nachricht ist, ein neues Wetterfenster für die Überfahrt auf die Balearen kündigt sich an. Die schlechte, wir müssen uns mit den Arbeiten sputen, um es nicht zu verpassen. Das kann ja heiter werden….

Op Terceira gaan we aan de slag met de schade die we opliepen tijdens de oversteek van Sint Maarten naar de Azoren. We maken afspraken met de haven en wat lokale vakmensen. De giek wordt gedemonteerd en we maken schoon. Na 11 maanden aan boord neemt Patrick afscheid en vliegt naar huis. De volgende dag vlieg ook ik naar huis om een maand later met Lars terug te komen. Samen fixen we aardig wat klussen en maken Eva klaar voor vertrek naar Nederland. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. It has been a really cold but quiet couple of weeks as far as wind is concerned. Today there's literally nothing blowing so the outboard is on and we go and find something to do on the lake!! It's still cold so I thought i'd test both pairs of gloves that I use to see which one is best (Links below). I don;t use the cheaper swim gloves much as they are super slippy and no good for holding onto lines. The Ora gloves, I originally bought for my RYA Powerboat Level 2 course and they're a nice pair of gloves. We then go and do some mooring practise on the Bala adventure centre jetty but have to be super careful in the shallow lake waters at the moment. There are rocks everywhere! Although I do faff about a bit, I decided to leave the whole video of the mooring in just to show you how easy it is to miss the jetty but also get back on track. I literally had only a few inches under the propeller so had to be really careful. On our sailboat, naturally, we have to live minimalistic. Any item has to be stored in a specific place. Living off grid or rather simple living at sea is therefore not always that easy and well, simple at all! This week on SV CUBA we continue to immerse ourselves in a foreign culture, spend time with the locals, try more of the delicious Tunisian food and deal with an unexpected emergency. On our trips to the streets of Monastir, we discover that in this part of the world some of the things are still done manually, such as the tradition of weaving fabrics and elaborate carpets. However, just shortly after we enjoy some great Tunisian food, we find ourselves in the emergency room of Monastir hospital. In the end, we had a very good experience with the medical care in Tunisia. And even though we paid for all the procedures ourselves, it only cost us a little more than 100 Euro. So we went about our preparations for the new sailing season, tackling some more projects . This means we have to figure out a way to store some of our things, so they are not getting in the way or destroyed when we are sailing. A funny thing happened on the way to Charleston, South Carolina. It all started innocently enough, with us motoring down the ICW. We managed to transition to some motorsailing for a while, heading from a swamp to the clear beginning of our seemingly endless time spent in marshland for most of the remainder of the trip. We again saw some dolphins in our anchorage, and Duke said "Well, we're on our way to Charleston" far too many times. We lost a cushion, but Virginia rescued it. Then it happened. While waiting for a bridge to open, we drifted to port and found ourselves in the mud. Then the tide went out... WAY OUT... and left us high and dry. We had to wait out the tide, and only became unstuck minutes before the final bridge opening of the night. This left us crossing the bay to Charleston in the dark. This version of Episode 56 includes minimal edits to video and audio. This is intended to allow us to roll out more videos weekly in order to encourage greater engagement with our audience, and also to allow us to catch up to current time a bit quicker. From 2004 to 2006, the company moved its production to La Rochelle. In 2008, they moved production inland to Rochefort. In 2011, working with Marc Lombard, they launched the first of the current range. The company was purchased by Bavaria Yachts in 2014 who invested in the production facilities, and in 2018, the brand, along with Bavaria who had run into financial difficulties, was purchased by Capital Management Partners, a private equity firm. We are, of course, talking about Nautitech and their 44 Open! Today we are going to 1. Review its specifications, pricing and layout against three similar new vessels. 2. Do a full tour asking, “What would Sylvia say?” 3. Naval Gaze at an innovation and/or adjustment that might make life aboard easier. 4. Have a look at the used market for 3-5 year old comparables 5. And finally give it a “Dave Score” and compare the result with all our previously reviewed yachts. Stating from our high vantage over Vancouver British Columbia, we fly across the Atlantic and across the continent to the home of last week’s yacht, the Catana Ocean Class 50 in Roussillon. From here we bounce over to the Atlantic coast of France and the Ship Yards of Nautitech in Rochefort.
