The Annapolis sailboat show has more boats in the water than any other. It cleverly splits the motorboat show (happens the week before) with the sailboat show so the vendors stay but the boats all change over. It means there's plenty to see and actually there are also many other boats on docks nearby that you can be taken to see. For example Blue Water Yachts didn't have a boat there but they could take you to see a Hylas nearby which the new yachts are based on. But of course the Annapolis sailboat show isn't just about the boats! It's full on party time for the whole 5 days with events running every night. We even went to a party in a chandlers! So in this episode we have a look around a Garcia and hop aboard one of our patrons boats, a lovely passport 456. We will have a special extra video showing the whole tour and also looking at the amazing Passport 615 at the show. There will be lots of extra videos showing what we've seen at the show, including a tour of an Outbound, an Oyster and our favourite the Hylas (would love to see a new Blue Water Yacht) We also look around quite a few catamarans at the show with our friends Heidi and Franny who are looking to buy something in the 45-50 foot range. There will also be a special video showing more of the boats they looked at and the full tour of the amazing HH racing cat. We get a few tech bits in too as we look at re-rigging Fair Isle and of course we spend time catching up with friends and meeting the other Youtube channels that went along ( there were more than 50 channels, quite a party!) Vi befinner oss i närheten av Korsikas södra udde. Vi får se sköldpaddor, delfiner och valar

Eigentlich wollen wir nach Almerimar, um die Dilly-Dally fit für den Atlantik zu machen. Aber da der Autopilot auf der Fahrt entlang der spanischen Küste vollkommen seinen Dienst quittiert, laufen wir erstmal Cartagena an. Eine Entscheidung, die wir nicht bereuen. Es gibt Bootsausrüster, Handwerker und eine Bootswerft, die allem Anschein nach fachkundiges Personal hat. Zumindest hat der Elektriker, der an Bord kommt, direkt den Durchblick, was bei uns falsch läuft. Auch kann er den Motor unseres Autopiloten reparieren. Zudem bekommen wir endlich Ersatz für den auf Sardinien durchgerosteten Warmwasserboiler. Und wir entscheiden uns, die Batterien zu erneuern. Wir rüsten um auf Lithium. Die Zeit bis zum Umbau nutzen wir, um andere Arbeiten zu erledigen. Motorinspektion, Dichtungen ersetzen, Schläuche und Ventile tauschen, die Steuerungsdrähte checken. Die Liste scheint endlos lang.

Als de lichten op groen gaan is de havenmeester al naar huis. We verwachten chaos, maar dat loopt anders… We nemen de bus naar Gorey om daar Mont Orgueil Castle te bezoeken. The 2022 Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series Bitter End Yacht Club lay day serves up beach cat ripping and Mount Gay mixin'.

Sunday was an awesome day full of sailing and boat projects! Started the day by checking the impeller to make sure it was ok and in good shape. With the guidance of both my dad and Rich I was able to get it taken apart and put back together fairly easily. For me, this was a great accomplishment given I’m not the most mechanically sound person. Oh, and the impeller was in good shape. Next we backed the boat out and took her over to the fuel and pump out dock to top off the fuel as well as do a pump out. Let me just say, pump outs are pretty gross. I’ll just leave it at that lol. After that adventure, it was time to hit the open water and do some sailing. Once out on the water, Rich went full sailing instructor and school was in session. Along with our usual sailing exercises (tacking, keeping a straight course, not letting the sails luff, etc.) Rich taught me how to reef both the main sail and jib. We were actually having good strong puffs of wind so the reefing experiences came in handy. All in all it was once again a great day out on the boat. A lot of fun and learning as usual. Anytime I’m able to get the boat and sail it’s a great day. We were out on the water sailing for about 5 hours I believe. Big thank you to both my Dad and Rich for all their help and knowledge. Over the last year and a half they’ve taught me so much.

POV our home floats and we use the wind to move around. It's usually sideways and moving very slowly (rarely in the direction of our desired destination) but it's constantly.. MOVING. The original steering system on the Vision 444 was hydraulic, which did not provide the level of feedback James Turner sought to deliver. The steering system is now mechanical; created 100% in-house with a chain and high-tech rope system. At the back of the steering wheel is a sprocket and chain, which interfaces to Dyneema and then another high-tech rope material, goes through some sheaves to point the lines back to the transom area, then through an elaborate welded piece of kit that routes the forces to the rudder stocks. The Auto-Helm ram is now located just under the aft access hatch at the top of the starboard sugar scoop, up out of the way from the elements. Want more?
