Juni 2022: wir segeln mit einer Lagoon 421 mit Freunden ab Murter eine Runde mit hoher Highlight-Dichte, wie ich finde. Veli Rat - Wrack Michele - Sakarun Beach - Telescica Nationalpark - Mir See - Steilklippen von Dugi Otok - Lavernaka Bucht Lojena - Hakuna Matata Bar auf Vrgada. SA: Obwohl die Bora stark wehte, legten wir am Samstag ab um die Verhältnisse außerhalb der Marina zu testen. Der Wind stellte sich als perfekt für einen ersten langen Schlag am Samstag Richtung Norden heraus. Wie wir später erfuhren, verließen alle anderen Crews unseres Vercharterers erst am Montag den Hafen. Da waren wir dann schon im Norden von Dugi Otok. Aßen sehr lecker im Gorgonia Grill, vor dem wir ankerten um am nächsten Morgen früh zum Wrack Michele zu starten. Wir waren auch bis ca. 10 Uhr alleine da. Als von allen Seiten andere Yachten heran kamen, legten wir ab und motorten zum Sakarun Beach. Eigentlich wollten wir noch weiter, aber nachdem es dort so schön ist, beendeten wir den Segeltag und genossen den Tag in dieser karibischen Bucht. Am Dienstag starteten wir bei 25 kn Wind von achtern eine tolle Rauschefahrt Richtung Kornaten. Als wir, um zu reffen, die Motoren starteten, stellten wir fest, dass der linke Motor nicht mehr funktionierte. Der Keilriemen war ab. Beim Linken piepte von Beginn an der Motor. Das war sehr ärgerlich. Trotzdem badeten wir noch gemütlich auf dem Weg und nahmen die erste Boje in der Mir-Bucht. Der Weg hoch auf die Klippen ist immer sehr schön und die Aussicht von da oben atemberaubend. Mittwoch früh sahen wir Delphine in der Mir-Bucht und Mechaniker erneuerten den Keilriemen und zwickten den Signalton des anderen Motors ab. Erstmalig ruhig ging es in die Kornaten. Erst zu den Gedenkkreuzen, dann in die Bucht Lojena, wo einem die Fische fast aus der Hand fressen. Wir segelten noch ein bisschen und legten uns dann an eine Boje bei der Konoba Quattro. Wir hatten Lamm- und Fischpeka bestellt und diese war sehr gut und auch preislich sehr in Ordnung! Donnerstag motorten wir noch ganz an den südlichen Rand der Kornaten und konnten anschließend Segel setzten. Da wir kein Ziel hatten, ließen wir uns vom Wind nach Vrgada tragen. Die dortige Hakuna-Matata-Bar war auch ein echtes Highlight ;) Mit den Füßen im Sand kann man wunderbare Cocktails geniessen. Mit 127 sm ist das eine perfekte Runde, bei der es jeden Tag was Besonderes zu entdecken gibt. Davon sind wir 50 sm gesegelt. Direkt im Anschluss segelten wir mit einer Bavaria 38 von Murter nach Mali Losinj: Die Videos sind für Familie, Freunde und Interessierte. Like anything you study for, it’s super cool when you can put it into practice. I think that is the biggest part of facing your fears and shattering your glass ceiling. You never know what your limits are until you have the opportunity to test it and just like that your limits become less and you have a new bar to reach. We are so happy and thankful that we got to crew on this beautiful boat. We are no longer mystified by the over night watches and the great unknown of just bringing out in the ocean. We know it's been awhile since our last video but over the last couple of months we have had some big life changes (more on that in future videos) and really didn't have the time to edit. Steve installs aluminum steps on the Mizzen mast. We now have three steps. This will make it so much easier and safer when attaching the halyard to the sail. Clean up after completing a project is always essential and Karen uses our new cordless vacuum to suck up the aluminum shavings. It always pains us to drill holes in a mast. Isabella has a homemade watermaker with a blown out membrane cylinder.We worked on figuring out how it works. The motors power up but not sure if we want to fix it or buy a new one. Instead of centering them within the area, we've raised them all the way to the top, as close as we can get them to the deck. EP 214: Road tripping through the USA 🚗 | Adjusting to life back on land! We're back, sorry for being MIA for a while but a lot has been happening, from work, business opportunities, drivers licenses, credit scores and just adjusting to life back on land but also life back on land as immigrants to a new country. We've had to start our lives basically from scratch (which is oddly refreshing) well for me (Simone) at least. We recap back to exploring Michigan and the lake of Saugatuck, which by the way is freezing but beautiful! We headed off to Holland to experience some Dutch influence and drove back to Indiana with a pit stop to see some really cool planes (bonus for Ricky) Couple months later.. we headed down to Salt Lake City.. we've always loved it down here and experienced it on our honeymoon back in 2017. It is a state that just appeals so much to Ricky and I and both our hobbies and we definitely see it as a place we would love to raise our kids one day so we made the decision to move here. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. What happens when you don't have boat insurance? You need a Plan B. We scrambled. This week our video features the crossing of the Gulf Stream, provisioning in Palm Beach, then moving South where we hit a BIG storm near Fort Lauderdale. We finally got out of there, picked up our friend, Paul who was going to crew with us to Guatemala and set sail for the Florida Keys. But, then we heard our insurance company decided not to fulfill what they had promised to us for the past 5 months. That's no bueno. In this episode we cross the border into Portugal! But FIRST, one the way we stop at two of Spain's Galician National Marine Parks: Isla Ons and Isla Cies. As well as a quick stop in the town of Baiona just prior to departing Spain. Our first stop in Portugal is at Viana do Castelo, a beautiful coastal town with an ornate sanctuary basilica atop the hill overlooking the city. It's a long walk up the steps to get there, but it's worth it for the view. The lift was broken even if we wanted to use it, we couldn't! Speaking of broken...our fridge broke. No more cold beers! Regata Marejada 2022 Florianópolis - Itajaí A bordo do veleiro BIG RIDER saímos da praia de Jurere no norte da ilha em Florianopolis rumo a Itajaí. Nossa tripulação estava unida e preparada para uma boa navegada, foi uma ótima experiencia poder velejar em mar aberto junto a tantos outros veleiros. Em torno de 30 embarcações participaram da 3ª Regata Marina Itajaí Marejada ( https://icsc.com.br/etapas/regata-marejada-3/ ).
