Sailing out of Albania and heading for Montenegro after an easy checkout process is always a bonus, and to make things even better we have good winds to take us there. Bar is where we head to as it is the nearest Port of Entry to Albania, and once we have completed formalities and obtained out Tourist Tax we are good to go explore. Heading up the coast we visit a few anchorages (Sutomore, Budva, Luštica Bay and Stradioti Island) before visiting the beautiful Porto Montenegro Marina and Tivat. Hiring a car and heading into the mountains we aim straight for the famous ‘Tara Canyon’ zip line, reputed to be the longest one in Europe….maybe! This week we made it to the tiny island of Malta: An ABSOLUTE MUST for sailors! Malta may be a haven for charter boats, but no cruiser should miss the absolutely stunning entrance of grand harbour Valletta. It is the most fortified city of all Europe and there are many sailing events held here. Though we didn’t do the check in process correctly, the Maltese authorities have been incredibly friendly and helped us every step of the way. The next day we were ready to explore the island but before that we got a visit from Transport Malta, the maritime police force of the island. With everything sorted, we take our dinghy over to the other side of Grand Harbour and make our way to the city centre of Valletta. Even though it is one of the smallest capital cities, Valletta boats some impressive architecture, history and numerous beautiful churches and cathedrals. It was also awarded as the cultural capitol of Europe. Besides that, Malta is a paradise for boats, with its many bays and coves. You will find the famous Blue Lagoon here on Comino Island and many famous movies have been filmed on the island of Gozo and Malta. There is something for everyone in Malta and we definitely fell in love with the island and its people. If you are looking for a sailing destination or if you are searching for an interesting country to visit, Malta should be on the top of your list. We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany, a sailing couple. We are living on a boat, our tiny house, creating a travel vlog as we sail around the world. We have almost zero sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. This Matatiki festival was organized by Marquesas people for Marquesas people. There was nothing organized to show tourist. Very pure and authentic, just a celebration of their traditional art and culture Haka performed by a group of tattoo professionals from all over the Marquesas. The did 3 days of tattooing and performed this as a group on Saturday night. No professional dancers but look at the serious energy, incredible homage to their traditions. Fantastic experience, the drums are hypnotizing, so is the women's voices and haka itself. Hard to do it justice with no professional recording equipment, we did the best we could. This week was doubling up, holes for a clamp. With tropical storm Nicole moving nearby, we added extra dock lines in preparation of some big blows. We have 1 5/8" stern rails. Matt's big push for the month of November is to get as many of our flush deck hatch molds in as possible. Once they've been glassed (and hopefully we'll cover that more in next week's episode), he has to measure and cut the space in the deck where they'll sit - and then get them bonded in. We do take a break from the work and get on a charter boat for the day, where we've spent the past few months trying to raise money for Fish For a Cure. On on the Chesapeake Bay, we try to catch the biggest rockfish of all the 70-some boats participating. And, we have a heck of a great day while trying. Then it's back to work, where I take over the screen and show some of the fairing I've been up to in the master hull. For weeks I've been tackling areas, trying to get them *just perfect* before receiving a tip that will now change everything. A simple blue dye to work as a guide coat. We hope you enjoy!
