#요트 #요트교육 #세일링 #sailing “글 읽어주세요~~” 겨울이 돌아왔네요. 추위를 많이 타는 세일러인 저는 방구석에서 다시 요트 이론을 정리 해봅니다. 5분의 짧은 영상을 만들면서 거의 3일이 걸렸어요. 세일의 모양에 대한 정리를 시작하는 대단원의 시작점이라 전체 방향을 제대로 잡고 시작해야 한다는 압박감 때문이겠지요. 사실 세일 트림에 대한 것은 작년부터 제작하려고 생각해 두었던 것 인 데도 막상 영상으로 제작하려고 하니 이것 저것 검토하고, 자료 찾고 , 확인하고, 결국 많은 시간을 들여 찾은 자료들에 대한 저작권을 고민하다 다~ 폐기하고 결국 제 영상들을 뒤지고 뒤져서 4년 전 영상까지 찾게 되었습니다. 사실 100퍼센트 만족스런 영상은 아니지만, 계속 이러다가는 결국 못 올리겠다 싶고, 시간을 더 들여도 완성작은 안 나올거야~ 라며 눈 딱 감고 올립니다. 일단 대단원의 막은 올렸고, 앞으로 세일 트림에 대한 내용들을 대단히 잘 만들려고 애쓰지 않고, (그럼 너무 오래 걸리니까) 할 수 있는 만큼해서 주기적으로 올려 보겠습니다. 영상에서 혹시 틀린 부분이나 의문이 있는 부분, 또는 공감하는 부분 또는 농담도 좋고~ 댓글 많이 부탁드립니다. 소통해요~ 감사합니다.

Episode 8: So many locks! How do we handle them in a sailboat? Food and water? Licenses and qualifications? What about the toilets, fuel and the big one - lock handling? This is part 2 of a 2 part "How" video. What do you need to know before cruising the canals and rivers of France in a sailboat? We had a thought - take a sailboat from Hull, England to the Mediterranean Sea through France, via Paris and some very small canals. Research material to prepare for this journey included websites, books, YouTube and Facebook. In all of this we found lots of information scattered across the different platforms, searching unsuccessfully for one pivot point providing a central star around which all the planets fell into reliable orbit. We finally got our engine repaired and set off for Pensacola Florida. It was a 5 day trip. We waiting so long to get going that even though we knew we'd have very little wind most of the time, we were anxious to get going. The Yanmar worked perfectly. We had 2 days of heavy fog but we got there. Thank God for radar! Enjoyed the town and the beach especially.

We renamed the boat! When we bought the boat, her name was Orion, we thought that name was too common for our liking. We wanted something more personal and easy to say and spell over the radio. We spent six months coming up with silly puns for the name, but none felt like the one. In December 2020 we suddenly lost our beloved sailor kitty, Mojo-Jojo, and to honor his life we knew Mojo was the perfect fit. Sailors are very superstitious and renaming a boat is known to be bad luck. A ritual is performed that includes making a deal with Poseidon to purge the old name and accept the new name into his ledger as well as appeasing the four wind gods to bless us with fair winds on our journeys. So here we are!

THE TRANSOM BUILD CONTINUES with even more sanding and fairing. We also de-core areas that we are going to place our hardware to support the transom. This part of the process is so important as this will determine the quality of the look once we paint.
