It all started two weeks ago, when we had Colby, one of the marina's mechanics, come spend a day on the build to give us lessons in fairing and painting. Colby has his own boat in the work yard he's refinishing, and after seeing his painting skills a few months ago, we knew we could use some professional tips from him. (He's also the one who recommended Blue Dykem dye as a guide coat) Off camera, we spent the morning fairing out three walls of the master shower (Colby is camera shy) but what we were able to cover is us sanding down the surfaces and then using Colby's spray gun to apply a coat of our high build primer. This lesson has been EXTREMELY useful, and now Matt and I feel a lot more confident about quickly attacking other areas of the boat. One other project is taking our new honeycomb core, and laminate it ourselves to have extra material for building out shelves and other non-structural areas. We decided to replace our escape hatches while in the water in a marina. Our catamaran is a 1996 fountaine Pajot Venezia 42 and was not subjected to the recall of escape hatches. Rather, our escape hatches were just very old and at the end of their life! We purchased our escape hatches from Defender Marine. An easy and amazing day trip on the Rio Dulce is Agua Calientes, a freakishly hot waterfall that cascades into a coldwater river. Our first trip to the falls was a special one as we joined a group of cruisers to support a humanitarian project in the town of Agua Calientes. Like all Central American countries, trash dumping in the rivers and lakes is an issue. The children learned in school how important it was to keep their river clean and then they spent 5 hours picking up trash in the river. All of the participants were allowed to pick prizes, school supplies donated by the cruiser community. Without a pen and notebook, children are not allowed to attend school and these children could not afford these educational staples. When we left Trinidad we were escorted out of the Trinidad and Tobago waters by a beautiful pod of dolphins that played on the bow of the boat for a good 20 minutes. We had left Tobago in the morning because it always seems to take us longer than predicted to get anywhere. Well, this time that wasn’t the case. We were doing such good speed that we had to slow down, we didn’t want to arrive in Carriacou in the dark. We curled away some sails and settled in for the night, doing enough speed to get us there in the early morning / first light. We arrived is Carriacou around 8am and dropped the anchor in Tyrell bay, just in time for a huge squall to blow through. We checked into customs and immigration and walked the beautiful shores of Tyrell Bay. The water is bright and turquoise - everything you expect the Caribbean to be. Colben and Robin were very excited about the really good fishing off the back of the boat. Colben got a really nice size big eye trevelly. We picked up the anchor and headed around to Hillsborough, the main town in Carriacou. It is a tiny little place full of quirky character. After a few more days of putting the boat together, provisioning, dropping the rental car off, and FINALLY washing the boat, we are back on the move. And oh does it feel so good. All systems are go, and the exhaust performs beautifully during the 20 mile trip to Stuart, Florida. Here, we will stay for a week one anchor, working on the computer, and settling into this lifestyle once again. Cooking all of our own meals, watching the sunrises, sunsets, and with the full moon approaching, the nighttime sky is spectacular. Dans cette vidéo, nous poursuivons notre navigation dans le Maine (USA). Nous prolongeons notre séjour à Rockland, en raison d’un problème de débordement de la toilette de la cabine avant. Étonnamment, c’est une petite algue qui bloque le mécanisme de la toilette! Le capitaine répare notre toilette et nous repartons pour un 70 miles nautiques vers la ville de Portland, où les problèmes avec notre ancre CQR commencent. Nous chassons 2 fois en moins de 48 heures… mais nous sommes chanceux dans notre malchance. Nous faisons collision sur l’étrave d’un autre voilier sans bris heureusement, le dinghy amortissant le choc. À la veille de notre départ, nous passons une très mauvaise nuit à surveiller constamment notre localisation pour éviter de chasser à nouveau. Lezioni di Vela - Sicurezza Le Dotazioni - Episodio 05 Le dotazioni di sicurezza su una barca da crociera, vanno illustrate dallo skipper all'inizio di ogni navigazione. Nel quinto video-episodio di Scuola di VELA vediamo come in poco tempo si possa mostrarne la collocazione all'interno della barca. Le dotazioni di sicurezza obbligatorie Le dotazioni di sicurezza da avere a bordo, dipendono secondo la normativa italiana, dalla distanza di navigazione della costa. L'elenco completo è fornito dalla Guardia Costiera e puoi scaricare in pdf tabella aggiornata delle dotazioni di sicurezza valida nel 2023. Tra le dotazioni obbligatorie ci sono: Cinture di salvataggio, anche dette Giubbotti di Salvataggio, omologati, di misura adeguata al peso e alle dimensioni, per ogni persona imbarcata. Ogni salvagente deve avere un fischietto, e se si naviga di notte, è bene abbia una luce automatica. Dispositivi di segnalazione sonora Salvagente anulare con cima e boetta luminosa pronto a essere lanciato a mare. Boette fumogene, fuochi e razzi di segnalazione, in corso di validità e nel numero previsto in base alla distanza dalla costa. Zattera di salvataggio autogonfiabile, obbligatoria oltre le 6 miglia, di tipo oceanica oltre le 12miglia. VHF marino per navigazioni oltre le 6 miglia, (e relativa licenza in corso di validità, scade ogni 10 anni, e certificato Radiotelegrafista limitato RTF). Bussola e tabelle di deviazione oltre le 6 miglia, (tranne per i natanti che sono esonerati dalla tabella deviazioni fino a 12 miglia). Cassetta Pronto soccorso, Orologio, Barometro, Binocolo, Carte nautiche, strumenti carteggio, GPS, riflettore radar obbligatori oltre le 12miglia, Estintori e pompe di svuotamento ( CE hanno pompe) Nel video di oggi lo skipper mostra al proprio equipaggio la collocazione delle dotazioni di sicurezza, tirando fisicamente fuori dai gavoni i vari dispositivi e nominandoli per nome. E' un buon momento per l'equipaggio per fare domande. Le dotazioni di sicurezza accessorie Noterete nel video che oltre ad alcune dotazioni di sicurezza obbligatorie vengono anche mostrati alcuni segnali diurni e ricambi di rispetto che, pur non essendo obbligatori, fanno parte di quelle dotazioni di sicurezza accessorie che ogni buon marinaio porta sempre a bordo.Dotazioni di rispetto e accessorie sono ad esempio: Dispositivi per il recupero uomo a mare, come una scaletta di emergenza ausiliaria (le barche CE devono avere una scaletta di emergenza estraibile a poppa) Lampade frontali e torcia di profondità impermeabile, telo termico di emergenza Ricambi per motore, come cinghia e girante, Tanica di gasolio e acqua potabile pulita di emergenza, Coni turafalle, Cassetta attrezzi di base e per la riparazione delle vele, Rivelatori di fumo e monossodo di carbonio per la cabina Pompe di sentina manuali ausiliarie, cosi come spugne, sassola, secchio, etc.. Barra di rispetto, cime di rispetto e rimorchio, mezzo marinaio di rispetto etc... Un accueil et un réveillon inoubliable. Changement d'équipiers, plongée, plages et tortues. Samedi 31 décembre, 11h, Ikigaï est amarré. Ça y est, nous sommes de l'autre côté. 2208 miles nautiques (4090 km pour un terrien) et 18 jours de navigation, cet espace temps est tellement grand que lorsque l'on regarde derrière nous, la traversée que nous venons d'effectuer nous semble irréelle. Comme si, l'atlantique se posait là, il y avait un côté Est, un côté Ouest et aucune transition entre les deux. comme un cliqué de non retour. Nos amis Eddy et Nadiége nous ont réservé un accueil incroyable et nous avons pu réveillonner tous ensemble. Encore merci. Est ensuite arrivé le moment du départ de nos équipiers et l'arrivée des filles. En Martinique, les transports en commun sont relativement peu développés. Nous avons loué une voiture pour une semaine afin de pouvoir visiter l'île et ses plages. L'organisation est simple. Le matin est studieux, CNED pour les filles, formation Master 2 à distance pour Moufida et entretien du bateau pour moi. Als wir vor unserer Reise zu diesem Thema recherchierten waren die Ergebnisse unbefriedigend. Ein Thema wird bewusst ausgeklammert, welche Scheine und Zulassungen werden benötigt, den das variiert von Land zu Land. Hier sollte sich man an die Schifffahrtsbehörden im eigenen Land wenden, um die richtige Antwort zu bekommen. Als Österreicher habe ich vor der Reise extra das "Schiffsführerpatent 10m für Seen, Flüsse und Wasserstraßen bis 10m", umgangssprachlich auch "Donaupatent" genannt erworben. Dazu hatte ich auch unser nationales UKW Funkzeugnis und die erforderliche Betriebslizenz. Unser Schiff Squib hat den österreichischen Seebrief, erst nach unserer Reise habe ich erfahren, dass auch noch eine Binnenzulassung nötig gewesen wäre. Auf beiden Reisen wurde ich kein einziges Mal danach gefragt, anders hätte es sicher ausgesehen wäre es zu einem Unfall gekommen.
