An eclectic video today. I realised that I hadn't tested my sea anchor on Lulu my Drascombe Lugger, so after a nice coffee we set about see if it'll work with a bigger boat. I stop off for a camper van lunch today. Its colder so some nice hot soup is a nice treat. We let the rain pass and then venture back out on the lake for some Tiller Tamer testing. We are sailing in the Mediterranean and living on our sailboat since 2021. We embark on a passage from Croatia to Turkey. We plan to use the entire 2022 sailing season for this 1100 journey to explore 4 Mediterranean countries. Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, and Turkey. From Adriatic, through the Ionian to the Aegean. We share some beautiful anchorages, marinas, unspoiled islands, great sites, and expenses along the way. In this episode, we continue our passage through Cephalonia. We stop at the Island of Ithaca and later Zakinthos. We visit Port of Sami, Historic Pilos town in Navarino Bay. We set sail to the southern Peloponnese and Methoni and Kalamata on our way to Cyclades. We recently quit our high-tech jobs in California, bought a sailboat, and moved to the Mediterranean. We are just starting our adventure of sailing around the world and experiencing life on a sailboat. In this sailing vlog 2022, we will share our experiences as a sailing couple on YouTube who spends our first year sailing extensively throughout the Mediterranean coast. In diesem Video mussten wir uns nun doch mit der Problematik auseinandersetzen, ständig Wasser im Boot zu haben. Dem sind wir auf den Grund gegangen und kennen nun alle Ecken der Bruty. In This episode I get real and lay it all out on the table. This whole experience has been filled with growth and frustration. Learned alot about myself and what I am capable of . Trying to come up with a plan when there are limited options.

After a winter hiatus it’s good to be back on the water. There’s always a boat project to keep us busy. It’s a labor of love and totally worth it. Soon we will install the sail and go sailing. The dinghy is ready to put around and the floating “beach house” comes with a water view. Time to book our first fishing trip.

** NOW SOLD ** Windmaiden is a one owner Bavaria 40 Vision built 2010 and launched new in 2011. This is an easy to handle three cabin cruiser with in-mast furling, twin wheels and an electric drop-down swim platform all in a magic 40 foot package. Down below the accommodation and lounging spaces are well proportioned and practical. Being a Vision, loads of light can be welcomed in through the large windows and skylights plus the headroom is impressive. The ‘L’ shaped galley features two fridges (one with a freezer section). The head and shower is to starboard with new electric toilet. The saloon space is impressive and compares to larger vessels and the owners’ cabin is forward with a semi-island Queen bed. Instrumentation is by Raymarine and includes auto-pilot and large chart plotter in the cockpit. The cockpit lockers are big plus the large anchor locker offers additional wet storage. There a five self-tailing Lewmar winches. The stainless-steel BBQ is mounted on the pushpit. The bimini and dodger offer excellent protection plus there is an awning extending from the bimini. Windmaiden is powered by a Volvo 40 with only around 1277 hours.

We saved the best (worst???) for last! As our splash date was getting closer and closer, we were scrambling to finish everything on time. But we still had one of the biggest and most important jobs looming over us: replacing our transmission. It turns out to be a massive undertaking with lots of hiccups along the way, and spoiler alert, this won’t be the last time I have to replace the transmission (stay tuned for that gem in the weeks to come 😂) But as busy as we were, we were still able to squeeze in a very special event.
