In this video we are in the final stages of preparation for our upcoming g inspection and Buoy run. We had a easy storm with high winds the other night and it parted one of the two bow lines which hold Tradition to her mooring ball. Needles to say, we got lucky. So we improve upon our mooring lines and prepare our anchor and chain setup. The interior gets a good cleanup, and Skip repairs some termite damage in the plywood decking, that surfaced over the last couple years The boat is looking much better, and there is still a lot of work to do. After an arduous, cold, rough and poopy 12 day Atlantic crossing from the Azores with our rather little Thula, we had finally – after over 2 years, reached the European mainland again. Since then a pandemic had swept over the world and we had no clue what to expect. Would the French even let us in? Or would we be put on a quarantine quay as we were used to, being tested first? And why in the world were we suddenly denied French fries at the harbor take-away? After figuring out the procedures, swinging our lazy sailor arses on a bike let us explore a bit more of the surrounding beautiful ‘abers’, the estuaries that cut into the Breton countryside. But then…here a shark. There an elephant or a witch? And then – what is that in the distance? 17,000 pairs of feathered friends…the largest colony in France. Wow! We almost missed it. Find out what we were on the lookout for, first cruising the coast of legends turning into the lovely coppery-pink granite coast with lots of authentic Breton music we recorded on our paths. Black Gold Sands is a company that has been exploring for gold around the world for many years. They have used traditional techniques such as panning, sluicing, and drilling to find gold, but they have also been looking into new technologies that can help them map and locate gold deposits more efficiently. One of these technologies is the aerial magnetometer, which is a specialized magnetometer that is mounted on a drone or helicopter and used to map magnetic anomalies in the ground. The magnetometer works by measuring the strength and direction of the magnetic field, which can reveal the presence of certain minerals, including gold. Black Gold Sands recently traveled to Western Australia, near Mount Magnet, to test out an aerial magnetometer on their lease site. They flew a drone equipped with the magnetometer over the area and collected data on the magnetic field. Using this data and advanced GIS software, they were able to create a detailed map of the magnetic anomalies in the ground. After analyzing the map, they identified several areas with high potential for gold deposits. They then went out into the field and did some traditional prospecting, using metal detectors and other tools to search for gold. To their delight, they found several gold nuggets, just as they had hoped. The success of this test has convinced Black Gold Sands that aerial magnetometers could be a game-changer in the gold exploration industry. By using this technology, they can quickly and accurately map large areas and identify the most promising locations for further exploration. This can save them time and money, and help them focus their efforts on areas with the highest potential for success. Of course, using aerial magnetometers is not without its challenges. It requires specialized equipment, including a drone or helicopter capable of carrying the magnetometer, and skilled operators who can collect and analyze the data. However, Black Gold Sands believes that the potential benefits are well worth the investment. The company is now exploring other options for using aerial magnetometers, including partnering with other companies to share equipment and expertise, and exploring new areas where this technology could be useful. They are also looking into other technologies, such as ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic surveys, to complement their exploration efforts. With these new technologies, Black Gold Sands hopes to revolutionize the way that we find gold, and to continue to be at the forefront of gold exploration and mining around the world.
