Built off the 233 Formula with pod, this is the layout plenty of owners chased for good reason, extra deck space where it counts and the kind of ride that stays composed when the swell stands up. Following on from a blissful week of meeting new boat families & enjoying everyones company, things took a turn of events... Following this we move on to a popular tourist town Nydri, where we spent the following days swimming in the pool, eating out and some land time. Which also meant we made the most of being near a chandlery & ticked off a few things from the 'to do' list that we had put on the backburner while we were too busy enjoying ourselves.

We take the inflatable dinghy out into deep blue water chasing pelagic fish and end up landing multiple mahi mahi (dorado) before drifting into an insane reef full of sharks. The boys push through challenging conditions to hunt a black grouper, and the action doesn’t stop there — we even have a close encounter with a massive tiger shark back at the boat. From bluewater spearfishing to reef diving, this was one of the craziest days we’ve ever had fishing from a small inflatable boat. In this video: - Spearfishing mahi mahi (dorado) from a dinghy - Bluewater hunting with hand spears - Reef diving for black grouper - Close encounters with sharks (including a tiger shark) - Fishing and diving in the remote Bahamas If you’re into spearfishing, freediving, offshore fishing, or ocean adventures — this one’s for you.

In this episode, we return to Antigua to get our always ongoing projects completed in order to launch the boat. But things get off on the wrong foot when we discover that our huge LifePo4 house battery bank is completely flat; not even enough power to turn on the lights or fans. This sets me off on a mission to determine what happened and whether there’s a fix. We also have a set of corroded seacock levers to replace, and this proves to be another difficult, if not near-impossible task. And while all this is going on, Wendy tackles the rebuilding and re-lubrication of all of our winches. We present a slideshow of our bottom paint removal process and addition of new Sea Hawk Tuff-Stuff barrier coat and Islands 77+ bottom paint. #sailing yacht talisman, #sailing, #sailing YouTube, #boating, #top sailing, #oyster yachts, #oyster sailboats, #oyster 485, #offshore, #bluewater, #blue water, #sailing vlog, #sailing vblog, #sailing videos, #cruising, #monohull, #boat projects, #offshore how to, #boat life, #lifepo4, #lithium, #batteries, #seacock levers, #lewmar, #winch rebuild, #antigua, #jolly harbour, #Sea Hawk, #Islands 77+, #Tuff-Stuff

What we learned in Cuba right away is that people appreciate it, but do not just want hand-outs. They want to be able to practice their professions and to contribute despite the lack of materials arriving regularly on the island. We saw this with the first people that we met as we arrived in Cuban waters...we also met fellow sailors who had just been demasted. Thank you to all the patrons of this channel! What does it really take to cross an ocean—and why do people do it? In this inspiring story, the crew of the Excess 14 Pelican share their journey across the Pacific as part of the legendary Pacific Puddle Jump. From preparation to landfall in the Marquesas, this is more than a sailing story—it’s a life decision, a turning point, and a new way of living. Aboard their Excess Catamarans, they embraced performance, freedom, and connection to the sea—proving that a catamaran can deliver both comfort and true sailing sensations. Through Sail Tahiti and the Pacific Puddle Jump, their experience became part of a larger community of sailors chasing the same horizon—crossing oceans, sharing stories, and redefining what “home” can mean. This is the spirit of the Pacific Puddle Jump. 🌊 Real people. Real crossings. Real stories. If you’ve ever dreamed of sailing beyond the horizon—this is where it begins. @SailPacificCA @EXCESSCatamarans @SAILTAHITI #ExcessCatamarans #PacificPuddleJump #SailTahiti #SailingLife #OceanCrossing #LiveAboard #CatamaranLife #SailingAdventure #FrenchPolynesia
In this episode, I join Andy from @sailingsole , Mike, and captain Trevor aboard sv Shearwater as we sail from San Pedro, CA to Ensenada, Mexico. Although there is a chance of rain and possible thunderstorms in the forecast, we experience mild weather. Winds shift from the Northwest to Southwest, but there is enough West to keep us on a reach as we head South on the outside of the Los Coronados Islands in to Bahia de Todos Santos and Ensenada, Mexico. We depart one day after planned ARTEMIS/INTEGRITY splashdown and a SpaceX launch at Vandenberg.

The last ever job we did on the hardstand that we couldn't complete. Today we are revisiting the tiller arm setup and taking them to a trusted engineer shop to do a critical modification. It'll either improve their performance immensely or destroy them completely. We run through the work with Watson Marine Engineering, cutting a keyway into the internal bore of the tiller arms. That SHOULD be enough work for one episode...but we don’t have any time to waste because we are trying to get out of the marina ASAP, so it’s on to the next job! Commissioning our diesel tanks: we had some pickup plates fabricated so it's time to mount them too! Built to go far. In every detail. Five days before its world premiere, the Outremer 48 is already doing what it was designed for. Sailing. Not sitting at the dock. Not waiting for a boat show. Not performing for the camera. Just moving. Most catamarans are designed to stay. This one is designed to leave. This first footage is not a reveal. It’s a proof. • Short-handed sailing, under control • A protected cockpit designed for life at sea • 360° visibility to anticipate, not react • A boat that keeps going when conditions change Because performance is not about speed alone. It’s about range. It’s about timing. It’s about freedom. The ability to: Leave earlier Sail faster when it matters Avoid bad weather Stay offshore longer The Outremer 48 is not trying to impress at the dock. It’s built for sailors who plan to use their boat. For those who measure a boat by miles, not features. World Premiere International Multihull Show La Grande-Motte April 22–26, 2026 Outremer 40+ years building offshore catamarans 10M+ miles sailed worldwide Designed with sailors. Proven at sea. If your plan is to stay close to shore, this boat is not for you. If your plan is to cross oceans, it might be.

We live aboard our 66' steel triple masted sailboat year round in Alaska, and after a winter that felt like it would never let up, we finally had a sunny day at anchor! We had porpoises moving through, whales out in the distance, and the water went completely calm. After months of wind, snow, and wet decks, Scott was finally able to get up in the rigging and start replacing lines… something that’s been needing to happen for a long time. With the conditions as perfect as they were, I decide it’s a good day to face my fear of getting in the water for more than just a minute and going for a worthwhile swim. This experience definitely got in my head more than I expected, but I went for it anyway. It was time. This video has a lot of real-life banter back and forth through all of it… Scott’s commentary probably says more than we do.😂 And then at the end of the day, while paddle boarding back from an epic beach combing session, we are met with the most beautiful sunset we have seen yet in Southeast, Alaska This is just a day in our life. We don't script or plan any of our videos, just real, raw, authentic living..… and today this is just a full day at anchor on the Alaskan Gypsy! We hope you enjoy. -Audrey ⏱️ Chapters: 00:00 The Sun Finally Returns 00:45 Replacing Old Rigging (Life at Anchor) 02:10 “There’s a Whale…” 02:45 Preparing to Get in the Water 03:30 Fear Kicks In 04:45 First Step Into the Ocean 06:00 Commentary from the Boat 😂 08:30 Life at Anchor (Drying Out + Work Continues) 10:30 The Swim Turns Into a Moment 12:00 Finding a Rhythm in the Water 14:00 Letting Go of the Paddleboard 16:00 Fear vs Reality 18:00 “I Remember Why I Love This” 19:30 Back on Board 20:00 Climbing the Mast (Real Boat Life) 27:00 Not Everything Goes to Plan

Today, we're talking about a common trap in the sailing community: why so many people end up with the wrong first sailboat. It's not about a lack of research, but how the market lets you fall for an unsuitable project boat.
