We leave El Questro after a wonderful stay and make our way along outback roads with many water crossings. We pass the Pentecost River and check out the spectacular Pentecost Valley. Next, we head to the Durack River and stop for the famous tea and scones at Ellenbrae Station, but unfortunately, it is closed too! We find a hidden oasis in the bush, and Mavi gets to have a little fly. We find Aboriginal rock art, crocodiles and Wandjina. We pass by the Mount Barnett Roadhouse, but the campground is closed. We attempt to pull into the Birdwood Downs Station but that is closed too. We are traveling at an unusual time of year, near the end of the season, and it's difficult to find anything open! We cross the Barnett River and eventually find an amazing camp spot by the banks of the De Grey River. It's stunning and we have it all to ourselves. We continue on our road trip and pass through Marble Bar, Nullagine and the mining town of Tom Price. We make a turn to head south and are confronted with a road-closed sign. It’s a 300+ kilometre detour to go around! Thanks for watching. In his usual frank and honest way he gives his reasons why he believes there is no best place to sail in Croatia. It's completely subjective because it's all about what you want out of your sailing. So if I say for me. Okay so if I say it's for me, what is the best place to sell in Croatia. For Nick at 45 Degree Sailing and that's for Nick at 45 Degrees Sailing in a personal sense. Not in a business sense. I love the area between Dubrovnik and Šibenik. This set of islands from like Šolta, Brač, Hvar, Viz, Lastovo, Mljet, Korčula. This area and the Elafiti Islands which are down here. We're gonna be driving past them soon. I love that area to sail for me! I love it for me because there is a huge mix of conditions. I can get wind if I want it (man it's really bright the sun's just come out let's wind that down a little bit) A huge mix of conditions so if I want to find some wind I can find wind. If I want Islands there's a lot of islands and very inhabitable, very habitable and habited ...... oh my gosh! You know there are much more habited Islands so there is more going on there. And I like to be able to whip around one side, when this north wind's blowing, whip around the other side where the South one's blowing. So for me, the best place to sail in Croatia for Nick at 45 Degrees Sailing is between Šibenik and Dubrovnik. I love this area. Thursday, May 25, 2023 At 1541 UTC on Thursday, May 25, while racing in Leg 5 of The Ocean Race, 11th Hour Racing Team activated its Hazard Button to alert Race Control and the wider fleet they had hit something, suspected to be a marine mammal or megafauna. The Team was in the mid-North Atlantic Ocean at 52°N, 35°W - approximately 750 nautical miles [863 miles/1,389 km] off the coast of Newfoundland, sailing at 29 knots [33mph/54 kmph], in 28+ knots [32 mph/52 kmph] of wind speed - some of the fastest conditions yet seen in the race.
