Our solar setup have always been different then the typical cruising sailboat. Most cruisers have fixed panels rigidly attached to an arch or bimini structure. Although this provides a secure support, it limits the amount of solar that can be harvested from the sun. With our setup we can tilt the panels to optimize our solar input. Cheguei em Mangue Seco — “a terra de Tieta” — ancorado no Rio Real, na última pontinha da Bahia antes de Sergipe. E aí começa o choque bom: o lugar que a gente imagina (novela, romance, memória) vs o lugar real (areia queimando o pé, vento, maré… e uma paz estranha). Neste episódio eu caminho pela vila, pelas dunas e pelo farol, e falo da história que pouca gente conhece: Mangue Seco surgiu em 1548 a partir de um naufrágio, e em 1930 uma maré excepcionalmente alta invadiu as ruas e “apagou” ainda mais a cidade. No meio disso tudo, vem uma cena que eu jamais esperaria: um café árabe servido com carinho… e a descoberta de que quem me atendeu é prima de segundo grau do Jorge Amado. E tem a parte que só a vida a bordo entrega: correnteza, vento e maré. De noite, uma das âncoras garrou, eu precisei recolher e jogar de novo — e quando entrou maré de sizígia, a correnteza aumentou e a coisa ficou séria. Também tem Pontal (o “porto do mundo” de Mangue Seco), canoas a vela tradicionais trabalhando de verdade, e uma reflexão que volta o tempo todo aqui: viver como quem tem roteiro, não agenda — não por causa do YouTube, mas por causa da vida mesmo. Am 11.09.25 starten wir von Paros aus der Bucht Ayliki Richtung Norden nach Syros. 27 sm. Dort legten wir in den Hafen Finikas an den Steg mit dem Heck zum Norden. Somit standen wir sehr gut in der kommenden Starkwindphase. Wir mieteten für mehrere Tage einen Roller und fuhren 4 Tage über die ganze Insel. Besuchten alle Stände und genossen die Hauptstadt Ermoupolis. Im Lidl gab es sogar einen günstigen Hochdruckreiniger fürs Schiff. Am 17.09.25 gehts weiter, mit tollem Wind und Wellen zum Kap Sounio und ankerten in der Bucht unter dem Poseidon Tempel 45,5 sm. Dort hatten wir die Nacht über 30 kn Wind, aber unser Anker hielt. Ich war trotzdem wach, weil Nachts um drei der Wind aufdrehte und um uns Ketten raus gelassen oder Anker eingeholt wurden. Auch die Yacht vor uns kam immer näher. Hätten wir nicht Kette gegeben, wären sie auf uns drauf gerummst. Keiner hats gemerkt auf deren Schiff ... Am nächsten Morgen legten wir mit ungutem Gefühl ab. Richtung Norden sollte der Wind und die Wellen abnehmen ... war recht wild der Ritt nach Ägina ;) Viel Spaß beim Ansehen. Die Videos sind für Familie, Freunde und Interessierte. Thomas Coville and his team on Sodebo Ultim 3 has smashed the Jules Verne Trophy Record set by Francis Joyon and his team on IDEC Sport. The record was held for a day under nine years. After navigating their way through Storm Ingrid to cross the Bay of Biscay, the team finish in the darkness on the morning of Sunday 25th January. IDEC Sport's time in 2016/17 was 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds. Sodebo Ultim 3's in 2025/26 was 40 days, 10 hours, 45 minutes and 50 seconds. Aux Lofoten, a bord de notre sprintern4x4 nous poursuivons la route toujours plus au nord en longeant la côte. Une piste nous tente, mais finissons coincés dans une ornière boueuse. Heureusement, le treuil installé par Man nous sort rapidement de là. Nous découvrons alors un spot de rêve, sauvage au bord du Boffjord ou nous passerons la nuit seule au monde entourée de la nature . Le Lendemain nous reprenons la route en sens inverse, rencontres animales, tétras, Elans. Passage par Laukvik puis cap vers le prochain ferry par la route côtiere magnifique jusqu'au prochain ferry, direction l'aventure suivante...

On quitte Jacaré pour explorer pas très loin, l’intérieur cette fois de l'état de Paraíba Des rencontres incroyables, comme Zé le Jeune , un monsieur de 90 ans et sa boisson miracle pour rendre les femmes heureuses 😏, quelques travaux sur Imagine, et surtout beaucoup de sourires. Le Brésil que les navigateurs ne prennent pas le temps de connaitre .

Returning from a surveillance mission, the French Navy flew over the Sodebo Ultim 3 in the Bay of Biscay and communicated via VHF radio with Frédéric Denis. A wonderful moment for the seven crew members who are expected to cross the finish line tomorrow morning, around 7:00 AM. Then this afternoon, Thomas Coville shared his final thoughts before heading to the finish line off Ushant. He reflected on the last 24 hours, particularly intense, spent in the heart of Storm Ingrid. The seven sailors faced truly hellish conditions: gusts exceeding 55 knots and waves of 8 to 10 meters. The crew is expected to cross the finish line tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM, according to the latest estimates.

Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 25 We’ve landed in Lombok ✨ Picked up the car and pointed it north, heading straight for the heart of the island. This leg of our journey takes us through Lombok’s remote centre — winding roads, lush rainforest, quiet villages, and landscapes that feel beautifully untouched. Our first stop was Tetebatu, where friendly locals welcomed us with warm smiles and not great English. We explored the Monkey Forest, wandered through emerald rice terraces, and discovered a magical hidden waterfall tucked deep in the jungle. Some of the roads we travelled definitely didn’t feel like they were made for a car… but we trusted Google Maps anyway 😅 With plenty of wrong turns and getting lost more than once, the adventure only got better. Along the way, we stumbled across a stunning blue lake that stopped us in our tracks. After days of rain, we continued on to Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls. The power of the water was incredible — thundering, alive, and absolutely beautiful. Nature at its wildest. With memories full and the road still calling, we set our sights west, ready for the next chapter of our Lombok journey. Diesmal segeln wir mal wieder größere Strecken, immer weiter nach Westen. Als erstes geht es von Sizilien rund 200 Seemeilen nach Sardinien und von dort knapp 550 Seemeilen nach Almerimar am spanischen Festland. Dabei geht einiges kaputt und ein Containerschiff nähert sich auf Kollisionskurs. Geht das gut? This time we are sailing longer distances again, further and further west. First, we sail around 200 nautical miles from Sicily to Sardinia and from there just about 550 nautical miles to Almerimar on the Spanish mainland. Some things break along the way and a container ship approaches on a collision course. Will everything turn out alright?
