For more information on the Nimbus 495 Flybridge for Sale with HMY Yachts, visit: https://www.hmy.com/yachts-for-sale/nimbus-495-flybridge-2025-2025-nimbus-495-flybridge/ Contact an HMY Nimbus Boats Product Specialists at (561) 768-5600 for any questions. The 495 Flybridge has been developed with the idea of being able to cover all imaginable needs today and in the future. A boat for longer voyages that exudes Scandinavian style and living that functions optimally in all waters, in warm and cold climates. With the Nimbus 495 Flybridge, they have scaled up all the characteristics that have become central to Nimbus’s identity so that we achieve more space for comfort, more Scandinavian function, and greater safety for those who wish to make their journey longer and experience more things. A functional and safe deck layout that makes it easy to move from boat to land, from foredeck to afterdeck, and from cabin to bathing platform has been the driving force in developing our biggest boat so far. Another key element is the extremely social saloon where you can socialize and mingle effortlessly and where they have, based on good Nordic tradition, ensured a clear and unobstructed view through large glass surfaces. The boat has a seamless connection between the saloon and the large afterdeck, which, together with a large, robust bathing platform turns the boat into a floating island. The aim behind the 495 Flybridge is not to create a design studio, but a floating home where all the solutions we have chosen have a well-thought-out function for making life on board so easy, comfortable, and safe that you feel embraced and want to live there – for a long time. That is why the core value of the Scandinavian home, “ombonat” (often translated as coziness), is also part of the DNA of the Nimbus 495 Flybridge. We sail to Porto to fuel up prior to a planned sail through Orca territory. The reports of sightings and actual attacks on sailboats is more frequent than I initially thought and Orcas.pt website and the Telegram chat group proved invaluable as we transited down the coast of Portugal. Based on most recent attacks inshore, we decided on an offshore route adjacent to the shipping lanes. This was also my preference as the tuna netting can be as dangerous as the Orca in disabling a sailboat. The weather was fair but sea state was rough and it was fairly uncomfortable on board due to the excessive rolling. Fog and mist led to zero visibility at night and the radar was an essential supplement to the AIS as the shipping navigation lights could not be seen. Once around Cape St Vincent, my excitement heightened as we approached the Strait of Gibraltar. Although predictwind forecasted fair winds through the strait, the winds were head on and increasing. As a result, the undulating swell led to increased slamming and Mark suggesting we do an about-face and head for Cadiz. It was the best decision ever. We found shelter, beer and rest, while another boat we were communicating with continued slamming into the Strait for an entire sleepless night. They were forced to seek shelter the next morning in Gibraltar as all crew were frustrated and exhausted. Our transit through the Strait was breathtaking as we hugged the southern coast of Spain with fair winds and a following sea. We sailed past Cape of Trafalgar and Tarifa and reflected on the history of the area as we floated above countless wrecks; a graveyard to ship and sailor. The Rock came into into view over lunch and we cooked up store bought frozen pizzas from Sweden. Not bad, but nothing tastes bad after 20+ days at sea. The transition from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean was noticeable with a gentle following current and a sense of accomplishment and relief. We made it. Dates of passage: June 22-26, 2024
Sailing life is all about smart solutions and marine resilience! 🌊⚓ This week, our sailors showcase an incredible piece of Italian marine engineering - the EaseSea Flipper. This ingenious winch handle is a game-changer for sailors everywhere. Unlike traditional winch handles that require complete removal when not in use, the EaseSea Flipper features a revolutionary folding mechanism. With a simple movement, it collapses onto itself, making storage and handling incredibly convenient. No more fumbling with separate storage or risking losing your winch handle overboard. It's a testament to Italian innovation in maritime design - compact, functional, and brilliantly simple. Their marina saga continues from the previous episode (Ep 42), with a full-blown confrontation to secure a better berthing spot. Battling less-than-ideal mooring conditions, our sailors prove that sometimes you need to stand your ground - maritime style! Just as the Blue Rigging team wraps up their boat work, an incoming storm adds that extra dash of maritime drama. Meanwhile, their feline first mate continues to oversee operations with characteristic cool. 🐱 Moisture challenges? Winch handle innovations? Marina negotiations? Yesterday we were questioning Charlie Dalin's northern course on MACIF Santé Prévoyance in the Vendée Globe, but he's continued to prove he's a master tactician, extending his lead over rivals, Sébastien Simon on Groupe Dubreuil in second place and Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA in third. We take a look at the latest tracker, the leaderboard at 0600 UTC, PredictWind options for Charlie Dalin and Sam Goodchild, who is in seventh place, a controversial post on the Boris Herrmann Racing Facebook page, and an update from Pip Hare in the Indian Ocean. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing

In the heart of the Caribbean Sea, our sailing family of seven faces the most intense leg of our journey yet. Tropical disturbances surround us, squalls behind and ahead, and the unpredictable Windward Passage becomes a trap of shifting winds. From eerie calm to overwhelming gusts, we find ourselves battling the worst squall we've ever experienced at sea. This is the raw reality of life aboard a sailboat-a mix of beauty, challenge, and the unknown. Will we find our way through, or will this be the storm that tests us beyond our limits? Join us as we navigate through chaos, courage, and the lessons the ocean has to teach. Magicmind | https://www.magicmind.com/MOTHERLOADSAILINGBF
The Nimbus 495 is the largest Nimbus I have had on the channel and she's also the new flagship for the Nimbus range. This boat is a slightly new direction for Nimbus when it comes to the size, capacity and number of features available onboard. Access more video content on boats I've filmed - https://www.patreon.com/dansboatlife Request a consult with Dan - https://www.dansboatlife.com/ This is an elegant design that will accomodate an entire family for a summer holiday in comfort and in true Nimbus fashion she's packed with loads of great solutions. Some of the technology is actually confusing at the beginning so I highly recommend you factor in extra time with your dealer to learn hom to operate the Volvo Dock Assist and driving with joystick as it is a completely different process to driving manualy and could lead to confusion around the dock if you haven't practised it first. In saying that the tech is so useful and such a leap forward that I highly recommend you get it. You can literally have a full 360 degree view of the vessel when parking now - just like a car! This is a long with a lot of information so it's intended for thos of you who are looking to do a deep dive as part of your research of the boat. And yes - I did forget to film the bunk bed cabin which can also be an office/study! We were pressed for time that day and I just forgot - sorry! Hope this is useful to you! Everyday's a school day! I bought "Sailing Essentials" by Steve Sleight for Josh on his first birthday spent together. Who would have known that 4 years later we're now sailing fulltime as novice cruisers, referencing to it often to hone our sailing skills and answer the never ending questions we have as we sail further into this world of fulltime cruising! We hope you enjoy this weeks episode as we make our way to Middle Percy Island on this long, southward passage home! We’re a little behind on our videos - we’re just having too much fun! So to connect with us in real time, you can find us on our new FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61551024568844 For ad-free and early release episodes, behind the scenes content and live updates, check out our Patreon! Your support allows us to continue to create videos and maintain our home, Innerbloom - keeping the adventure alive. Thank you! https://www.patreon.com/TheNewKidsOnTheDockhttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KNLJDGDXPAYAU ABOUT OUR BOAT:- Innerbloom. Previously named Nui. We took off a letter and added a few. Innerbloom is a homage to a song beloved by us from an Australian electronic band, Rufus Du Sol.- 1985 Joe Adams design. 35ft. Steel. Fin keel. Sloop rig. Around 12 tonnes.- Aft cabin, centre cockpit and a v-berth brimming with tools, equipment and vitamins for Sonya. ABOUT US: We are Josh (1996), Phoebe (1998) and Sonya (2022) who is our baby bearded dragon. We met in 2019 and 3 weeks later discovered our dream of sailing together having never stepped foot on a sailboat ourselves. Within this month of meeting we knew were undoubtedly madly in love, and that we wanted to continue this love story on the ocean. Our shared passion for nomadism, nature, minimalistic living and adventure fueled the fire of this insane dream of one day being able to sell all that we own to sail full time. In February 2020 we moved aboard our new floating home having purchased her only 6 months before sight unseen and proceeded to live in a trawler harbour for 2 years. Her previous owner lived on the hard stand for 10 years, so Innerbloom was set up for full time living - not cruising. We spent the next 2 years upgrading vital systems and electrics, treating rust and trying to learn as much as we could about sailing and sailboats whilst working full time. Josh worked at a sugar mill as an Electrician and instrumentation technician and Phoebe worked an online business and as a Librarian’s Assistant. In March of 2023 we set sail from our home port of Ballina, NSW, to embark on our first season of cruising up the East Coast of Queensland having only sailed Innerbloom a handful of times. It sounded insane…and it was! We were taking a chance on a dream having little to no control over its outcome. But we’re now at the tail end of our first season of sailing with no plans of stopping any time soon! We strive for transparency on our channel which means that we quite literally share all of the ebbs and floods of our novice sailing journey. It is our immense pleasure to share our story and adventures with you on the tube! So if you’re new here - hop aboard and be sure to hit subscribe to be notified of weekly videos.
